I just bought a set of 4 for $59.75 on Amazon. They're about $240 ea. at the dealer but I suspect one manufacturer makes all of them. You don't need to drill out the rivet holding the mounting bracket. Just unplug the connector, as some wiring is too short to leave it connected and release the rod, and disconnect the rod being careful to not break the plastic clips holding it. Find something long and skinny and put it in the door resting on the pin on the side of the actuator and hit it with a hammer to drive the actuator out the bottom of the mounting bracket. Put a little KY on the rubber bushings, because you weren't using the KY for anything else anyway, and use your hand, TO HOLD THE ACTUATOR, and push it upwards into the mounting bracket. The KY will dry out in a few days, unlike grease, and not be slippery enough to easily come out under pressure from door lock operation. When you are finish you can use the KY and your hand anyway you want to. Hmm, I have to go now.
Just did my 96’ and worked great! Awesome information on keeping these trucks alive on the cheap Edit: Ok so went out today and wouldn’t unlock…luckily I left the panel off to do the window motor today. When I disconnected the actuator rod everything moved smooth, I tried cleaning and lubing any and all moving parts associated with the system and reattached the actuator rod, still no dice, was gonna pull the latch assembly out and inspect/deep clean and doing so I found it was the factory installed zip tie attached to the rod that goes up to the black nub that was causing the issue. Soon as I cut the zip tie free it all was working again. Tried at least 100 times to test and went 100/100. Time will tell but leaving the panel off for now till I’m confident enough it’s 100%. Not an issue with the mod at all, my original actuator was indeed bad after going back to retest it after this ordeal today.

So I did exactly what you did in the video but my problem is when I hit the lock/unlock all it does is spin the rod. Doesn't move it up and down. Any idea why?
If I understand you correctly when you hit the lock/unlock button the motor just spins the rod ? My first question is is does the rod look like it moves inward or outward? Second question is if you have followed all the directions and you can notice the rod screws inward and outward (and motor is completely installed) you may have a faulty motor.
@joenlizzy27 yes all it does is spin the rod. I installed it anyways and it doesn't do anything. I can hold the motor in my hand and hit the button and all it does is spin. I can manually pull up on the rod and push it in but it pulls/push pretty hard. I bought 2 motors one for each side and I didn't do anything to it, plugged it in and same thing it just spins.
@@austinpytleski7444 Ok so these actuators are screw type actuators wich are designed to " screw in and /screw out respectively depending on which direction is presed ie unlock or lock" that being said if they are just spinning in place with no up or down movement double check that all 3 bearings are seated and the rod should move freely in and out by hand. It may be possible that the motors you recieved are faulty or a bearing is not riding in one of the groves properly.
Not very far. you just need to make sure the rod goes in and out without binding. The actuator will push out the rod to the length needed after its insatlled.
