Thank you very much! I have cleaned mine out with a garden hose before but I am definitely going to use the foam spray asap I need all the air I can get mine not cutting it.
Great video on getting that blower out. I got a cleaner for the evaporator coil and pan from a parts store. It kills all the mold in your entire system including vents. The can comes with a long tube you push into the drain tube. Shake the can then spray it all in. Wait 15 or 20 minutes then crank up and run A/C on low for 15-20 minutes. I couldn’t believe all the crud that came out plus the car has a fresh clean smell now.
Great video. I have a 98 C1500 getting ready to put the 3rd replacement fan in at 370k miles. When I replaced the heater core I dremeled the box for access. It's a daily driver not a show truck. Also if you spray the evaporater coils with 409 or such let sit, brush lightly, let sit then spray water thru the evap. The evap has the drain hose. Just don't go overboard with.the water. 😊
Hey man!!! I wanted to reach out and let you know I got a notification that you posted a comment on our latest video but when I clicked on it, it disappeared!!! The only part I could see before it went away was that you bought a DJI... lol. We wanted to thank you for watching and commenting so I figured I’d look you up and low and behold you have a channel!!! We appreciate your support, buddy!!! Kevin and Kristi
I was watching your video and noticed the fancy carrying case that you have for your drone. If you dont mind me asking where did you get the case from? I recently purchased a drone and wanted something robust to carry it in Great video btw Thanks
@@Slicpartna oh cool!!! You’re gonna have a lot of fun with the drone no doubt. We actually got the case at Harbor Freight. It’s the Apache brand and it’s the 2800 model. We just decided though to get the 4800 model because it’s a lot bigger and it should hold the drone plus all the GoPro stuff we carry also. We are really pleased with the quality so far and think Apache makes a quality case. It’s funny you asked that because we just got the new case today and are gonna feature it in an upcoming video. Lol
If your blower motor squeals or won't turn at All you may be able to fix the motor. There really isnt a bearing. The shaft rotates in a bushing. Take the motor apart and clean the shaft and oil the bushing. That could take care of the squeal. If the motor doesn't turn check the brushes to make sure they freely slide in their channel. I did both of these things and fixed my motor. Also take a small needle nose file to the armature to clean It up for better electrical contact. Just scratch it up a bit to get some shiny copper showing.
I agree that you can remove the heater core with the dash intact. But, everyone doing the evaporator either removes the dash or does a hack to cut out an opening. Then gluing or Gorilla taping the plastic back together. I'm still searching RU-vid though, so maybe my opinion will change.
@@utahyork3338there is another video where a guy removed the evap core without removing the dash nor damaging anything too much (to the point of needing gorilla glue/tape) but he does say and shows that it is a PITA 😭
Good video man. This made me want to replace my blower motor as well. Did you get an aftermarket blower? Is it still blowing as good as you show here? Thanks
Hey hey thanks for watching Yes it is a aftermarket market blower from rock auto and It does continue to blow great Let me know if you have any other questions
Thanks Man, I'm a Technician myself and drive a 91 GMC 1500. But I did go home Depot this morning to grab me the same Evap cleaner you used. Not bad for $7 & Works really good! 👍
I appreciate you for making this detailed vid. Just got my 96 burb blower motor out and I’m stunned how clogged my cooling fins are. When you are rinsing with water is there any danger of the crud getting stuck in the other side of those aluminum fins ? Or does it drain on the other side too ? Going to depot tomorrow to get the foaming cleaner. Thank you , just subbed Also what brand blower did you buy ?
Use a tooth brush to dislodge the crud, remove the debris as best as you can. I ordered the blower motor from rockauto I cant recall the brand. Let me know if you have any other questions Thanks for watching
Howdy there, great video What do u think would be my issue would be if I smell ac refrigeration on inside of my 97 k1500, ac freon doesn't stay in overnite even
@@danieldriscol4484 If you smell refrigerant inside the passenger area, then you might have something going on with the evaporator. I would suggest doing a leak search. You can add dye to the system or use refrigerant that has dye in it. To confirm if is the evaporator you will see the dye leak out of the condensate drain tube with the condensation. You will need a light that will pick up the UV Dye Do this at night, you will see the dye better Good luck Thanks for watching
That is correct, you dont have to rinse it off. The condensate that forms on the evaporator will rinse the cleaner off. I rinse mine of because there was some serious debris on my evaporator. Let me know if you have any other questions.
What’s up Slic. Man. I was doing some AC work on my 99 suburban and I was trying to take off the accumulator and the nut was so tight on there I twisted the line going into the evaporator and broke the line ! So now I gotta change out the damn evaporator 🤦♂️
Oh wow!! you got to be careful with the evap core. I recently recharged the a/c on the suburban. I didn't want to monkey up the evap. That would have caused the fur on my back to stand up. let me know if you have any questions
Cut out a square in the plastic housing to easily get to the evaporator and then rtv the piece back on. If u do it good enough itll be as good as factory.
Pretty good video; very helpful hopefully I can get the ac blower to come on without jumping it off to come on… Do you have any videos with ground problems ?
@@Slicpartna thanks I can’t get the windshield wiper to come on, radio and the ac is out.. I would have to hit a bump for them to pop on… good Mechanic are in short supply in New Orleans 🤦🏽♀️
@@Obs_sergealldayoh wow that isnt good!! You might have checked this already but you can check the ground from the battery to the engine block and to the body Make sure the bolts are tight
What could be the problem on why the high setting dont work on my chevy silverado 1995? I replaced the blower switch on the hvac but still dont work! Any help? Thanks
Hey love the suburban build I have a 99 that I really wanna ls swap soon I'd really like a run down on all the parts used to make yours work I'm a bit scared jumping into this project
Hey hey thanks watching the video It is pure enjoyment building this suburban. The swap isnt hard at all Have you decided on what size engine you want to use? I used some motor plates for the engine ICT makes good motor plates for swaps and Holley too might be pricey though I used psi conversions for the wiring harness but you can thin out your factory harness and repin it or you can send it out to have it done If you get a take out engine be sure to request the wiring harnes and computer too. Saves time on trying to source that stuff Let me know if you have any other questions
@@scottcampbell6275 I'm running schoenfeld headers I had to massaged them into place but they work, I think pacesetter make some headers that will work too Im running the stock transmission with no issues Let me know if you need more information
Crap i swapped my blower motor one screw suuuucked but i left it out haha. Pissed i missed the opportunity to do this cleaning when it was right There!! Its on my list now the low vents blow hard air but top vents are weak...hasnt been cleaned in 27 years i guarantee
Na, Remember the evaporator drips condensation in the air box You dont have to use as much water, the cleaner is a no rinse formula It will wash off as the a/c system is in use. Let me know if you have any other questions Thanks for watching
@@Slicpartna thanks for the quick response. I blew mine out with air earlier… I think water would’ve been better. I swear my box was half full of debris!
@@kmnremtp yea the air box will collect debris, the cowl cover doesnt do a good job of keeping that jazz out. I have to clean mine out again. Floating leaves, pine needles and such continues to collected in the air box. Thanks for watching Let me know if you have any other questions
