I think different springs shouldn't be a problem. Differing spring tension just helps resist raking/bumping. Unless you have a really really long driver pin and it requires a shorter spring so it doesn't get mangled in use.
I can’t be the only one of us loyal fans that wonders how in the absolute hell he ever gets those back together 😂 that’s gotta be even more impressive than watching him pick open even the most complex lock in under 5 mins!
LPL is a very meticulous picker and it is probably easier than it would seem to us mere mortals. Now, if he was to drop his tray, and didn't have a video to refer back to, that would be a challenge even for LPL !
@@walmartdog1142 Not really. You place the key pins in the plug and insert the key. If the pins aren't correct, you can tell. For the driver pins in the bible, it does require that you know where they go. But that's only the case when the driver pins aren't all the same (usually, they are).
Great tool! It seems like the springiness in the tool actually amplifies the "click", making it easier to see for viewers, and I can better visualize the amount of force you are applying to the pick compared to other videos. You might want to lock the white balance on the camera tho, colors changing wildly during pin inspection.
xBlueTornadox Well these are from a strong company, and I don't think this is advertised as their best model (they probably have a 6 pin version and almost certainly an electronically enhanced version).
I swear you sound exactly like my dentist when you are doing your lock picking thing. Except the only thing he is good at picking is the money out of my wallet.
I love how locksport has become a bit of an arms race. Lock companies started making locks that make standard picking nearly impossible, so lockpickers started making specialty picks to defeat them. It's the lock companies' turn to escalate the situation again.
@@anononomous That reminds me of the classic 1960s song, rolling in the wind. I love the lyrics. /How far can an anti-drilling ball bearing in a lock roll after the LockPickingLaywer guts the lock?/How far across the shop floor in the basement where locks go to die will it get? Will a strong gust of wind pick it up and blow it away? The answer my friend is blowing in the wind that is pushing the ball bearing along/
Your intro is perfect btw. The way you hit the same notes with the same words is as good as it gets. Did a professional tell you to do it that way or is it more natural talent?
It probably comes with his profession. When your job is to persuade people, speaking clearly, unambiguously and with a cadence that makes what you say stick in the minds of listeners is probably really helpful.
Wow, that really made short work of a pretty tough lock. Makes sense that the distributor for it is in New York. High security locks like Mul-T-Locks and Medecos seem to be more common in NYC based on the number of locksmith shops I have seen advertising them in their windows. Presumably there is probably a demand among locksmiths to be able to pick such locks as well.
It did, multiple times. Results from the use of auto white balance. Would be better to do the white balance once and then keep it. I think there is no change in lighting because it's indoors, so this should be fine.
Sadly when I had my stroke a real life white balance shift did not occur... Would've been much cooler than just the standard fare of garbled speech and droopy face imho. I'm about to take up this sport to help me with coordination among other skills.. So fingers crossed I can ever be as good as lpl or bb...
If you were impressed that novice could pick it in 15 minutes you're REALLY gonna be speechless when I pick it. It'll take me 15 years. Not to toot my own horn or anything 😎😎😎
@@wonderofu8073 OK, here's one. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gsxnn9XTbfc.html Better check this channel they have some more tools. Seems it's a French company that makes dimple picks and decoders.
@@wonderofu8073 Here's another strange one. Seems to be for car locks. The channel has more than one video on this. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hJaJRXpwIvs.html
I really want to see a collaboration between LockPickingLawyer and Steve1989MREInfo. The tone of the voice, way of presentation, signature phrases really hit the same vibe for me. "Alright, let's get this out onto a pinning tray. Darn nice!"
A job well done and fully explained. May i ask is this for sale to the General public, in your country, and in England. Also the current cost. All your vids are exceptional well done, bill.
i'm still flummoxed as to how you pick the outer pin first and then the inner pin. with a handheld pick, i would imagine lateral variation, but with this one, locked into the keyway like it is, it seems like all you have is depth and rotational variation. the rotation variation with this kind of pick could allow you to select lateral position of the tip of the pick, but it seems like it'd sweep up the inner pin (or at least risk it. anyway, nice picking. i will add that i think your prior grey metal tray was easier to focus on than this one (probably due to shininess/reflections) - your more recent videos seem to be slightly off on focus when you zoom into a closeup of the pins. when you have something up close but in your fingers, the focus is great. thanks!
Considering we're getting more and more means to break these systems, i think it's a good decision that i have essentially turned my lock into a safe combination door. Mul-T-lock + geared rotor and a combination mechanism. Rotate left and right until the combinations are set and then open the doors. Feeling better about my paranoia.
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TLZ3zFuW_tU.html here's a video of him picking the same style lock the normal way, it takes him about 3 minutes.
You say the "Rotapik" made short work of the lock, when in fact it was _you_ who made short work of the lock. There's an old saying LPL... "You can have all the tools but you've got to have the know-how." That's it right there Boom!💥💨😲💨😀
Small movements of the pick with very precise placement. Essentially he centers the pick on the pin to hit the inner pin, rests it on the edge of the pin to hit the outer pin.
@@roysammons2445 You'll notice when he's doing the outer pins, he's not on the markings, but offset a bit. He's right on the markings when doing the inner pins.
Naly you don’t even need to know which you are on. The pick wire tip is shaped in such a way that it pushed both at the same time but can also reach inside the outer pin to get the inner when it’s time.
I wonder why LPL is so into picking... maybe he was *picked* on when he was a kid? Ahhh, to heck with all that, look at him now... he has really *unlocked* his full potential! [PUN SAFETY THRESHOLD REACHED]
*I know it goes against everything most have ever been taught But deliberately doing a poor job of installing a deadbolt lock set so that it takes two hands to get in. One hand to turn the key and the other hand to lift or push or pull on the knob/door to eliminate the side load on the bolt. Since most lock picks are thin and rather easy to bend and can not be used to strong arm a bolt open such as a key would. and Adding dificulty since the lock picker is not familiar with the intricacy of the installation* *In other words , you don't want that dead bolt to be butter smooth. You want just a little bit of a wrestling match xD*
Blocked User the core will turn/pick before it retracts the bolt meaning you can pick he lock then remove the tool and use a flat screwdriver. Have done that a few times =]
GxAxV I see what you mean and you are right , once the core breaks free and starts to turn you slip in the screwdriver and play with the physics of the installation. I think it still adds a level of difficulty that makes it a little more involved and physical than just the pick. You need to keep tension on that screwdriver and not slip off while trying to figure out how to unload the tension on the bolt. Not as easy as some might think but it really is probably more common to see a sketch installation than a butter smooth one out on the street. Thanks for pointing that out.
To be fair, he said the picker he gave the tool to not only had never tackled a mul-t-lok, but had also never attempted a dimple core either. This man had zero experience with the base version OR the upgraded version and picked it in only 15 mins, first try. That honestly IS impressive.
As much as the key-shaped tensioner limits the pick's use depending on what attachments you have, it definitely looks like it'd solve all but the worst shaky-hand issues by keeping the pick centered. If I worked as a locksmith instead of picking as a hobby, I'd probably love such a specific tool. I treat locks like puzzles though, and a tool that's too good can make it harder to have fun.
I just got my first lock pick set yesterday because of your channel and I was wondering are you using the pick as a lever to lift the pins up, or are you rotating the pick to lift the pins up?
Is there a video where you describe your terms? Click, binding tightly, false set, etc. I'd love to know exactly what they mean and see what's happening when each occurs. Thanks!
Would I be right in saying the Lockwood MT5+ profile the VPIL uses (843 - Oakleigh factory exclusive) is one of the instances where you'd need that additional key guide? 🤔
Because of you and your channel I’ve purchased a locking pick set from banggood! It should arrive early next week! So glad your videos ended up in my recommendations!
Fact of the matter is, just because a Mul T Lock can be picked doesn't mean it will be. Most would-be low level theifs who see a lock lick this would move on.
Could I trick a regular locksmith into thinking iv got a mul-t-lock if I change the internals but keep the front part that says “multi lock” so they start picking for multi lock & can’t work out why they can’t pick it because it’s actually a yale or something ? Sorry I’m not clued up with the names of the lock stuff.
So frustrated with my E11, been trying for 12+ years to pick it, never set one pin. I jte to think how many hours, all different picks, Multipicks, Goso, homebrew, nothing changes the dead response. Everything springy, apart from maybe pin 1 occassionally disappearing beyond the keyway ceiling, but there’s zero give in the core, as with other Mul T lock interactive euros or ovals. I’ve picked an E14 and a C8, both held out for a long time, but one day, 5 binder, with successive clicks and core give, then clunk, deep falsey and tickle of one or two inner pins and open. Any ideas before i dissolve it in acid, would be welcome.😭😭😭😭🤷♂️😆♥️♥️♥️
Please do a face reveal... you are obviously a SERIOUSLY skilled picker... you don't talk much about law thou... but I think I found your identity... P.T.? Put a face behind the skill?? I'm not going to out you... at least promise for when you hit 1,000,000???
I'm just leaving the store called the wind so I can save in Fort lauderdale. The owner and another old longtime employee laughed at me, and derided me for believing "all that fake crap on youtube." Specifically the Lock Picking Lawyer. They were referencing the MTL 800 lock if they consider one. I see other guy sitting on RU-vid but I don't know that. Has the LPL picked an MTL 800 on camera?
Mick Dundee: "That's not a cutaway - THIS is a cutaway!" drive.google.com/open?id=12TUQk7AR7M0axC_AQDIsnNq5LRTI6iSQ LPL, if you're interested in seeing my others.... leave me a reply. I even have an MTL classic with the outer pins cutaway on 4 sides to reveal the the internal pins.
LPL's skills are impressive, and probably far surpass anyone who even claims "expert" lockpicker status. However, I know there are locks that exist out there I've heard even by multi and medeco that far exceed any standard security protocol in their latest models. I for one would like to see LPL actually seriously challenged by something. His ego would probably never let him publish a video where he's defeated by something - but how about at least something that truly gives him a difficult time?
For someone who knows nothing about lock picking and just watches these videos for the cool factor, seeing a tool like that was really nice because I felt like I was being taught how to pick rather than just shown how someone else does it.
It cost me about 300$ to buy this Mul-T-Lock Interactive key lock and now your telling me i'm not secure!! :-( Can you suggest me a pick proof door lock please? Thank you!
I am the head locksmith at Columbia University all we use is Mul-T-Lock interactive. This pick is made useless it would seem by the addition of side pins and/or back pins to the plug. I have every intention on getting this pick to try it out. In an institution picks are basically obsolete and everything is masterkeyed with no reason to pick for lockouts.
It's essentially a spring loaded bit in the key that will engage a key pin that is especially high. This key pin won't engage a flat key at all, and you need the spring in the key so that the key can get past the warding. This helps with impressioning and key replication attacks (foil impressioning attacks are a low-tech and effective method of defeating many dimple locks), but just acts as another regular pin for picking. Look at this PDF on page 13 for way more detail. www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=www.lockpickingforensics.com/articles/mul_t_lock.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwj6y8H7suvlAhUSIqwKHWQXBhwQFjAEegQIAxAB&usg=AOvVaw1ZrvT0gYPz6D4Nc7dVVJiP&cshid=1573792991364
Even with the cut-away I still don't get what I am looking at. Also, this presentation does not make clear to me how the tip of this instrument makes it possible to address outer - and inner pins separately. LPL leaves a hole lot of talking points unaddressed in this one.
Search for lockpickinglawyer multilock. There are PLENTY. And instead of waiting around for someone to hand it to you, you could've seen ALL of his multilock vids by now lmfao All by taking less time to search than it took to ask for someone to provide it to you. Lazy much? 🤣🤣🤣 Seriously. Type 2 words in search and theres your vid. Instead, you felt like typing out an entire sentence and waiting around for a few days would get you what you want 😂 wow. Notice there's no link? Go find it yourself.
I know this a like 6 months old, not sure why I didn't ask this before on other videos, but can you explain the term "false set"? Is that a good thing or bad thing, what does it mean?
would like to see the keyway more clearly. I have a dimple lock with a rectangle keyway and no warding. When you try to wrench it rests against the first pin. Soon as you set that pin the tension wrench is loose. So I am watching carefully for dimple and keyway on them.
I miss these gutting videos, recently u seem to just make shorter and shorter videos so i actually lost interest it’s not the gutting in self that made me lose interest but it seem like u just wanna make a video as fast as possible and call it a day, I don’t know if there is anything in ur personal life that makes u limited to make videos but if u want us here u probably should put more love in ur videos
