Kind of reminds me of my old chop, 93 inch Panhead, STD cases, four speed tranny in a rigid frame I build back in the nineties. Hasn't been on the road since the carnivorous clown circus began, bout time for it to fire back up. Always good to look at a chop!
Two belts for the primary is a good idea. Many times I've had some poor schmuck come to the shop for a busted primary belt. Scooter's stranded and the guy has a palm sized remnant of his grenaded belt for me to identify. I'll take a chain any day. Great bike!🤠👍
Thanks Charles, this may be hard to believe but those inch and 1/2 belts part no.BDL 37144 have been on there since 1994, 30 years same belts! The 3 inch pulleys are Primo, and I keep them adjusted to 5/8 of an inch. I had a flange machined for the inner side of the front pulley which makes them self aligning. I have a belt shroud I fabricated and can be seen in the Sturgis drag video but I've always liked the look of everything whirling around, just have to remember to tuck in my boot laces.
Hey Steven. Steve here, had a similar set up in 75. New XLCH , Ran a 16 in back 19 with a spool(no brake) on the front, 8 over tubes, cut the neck dropped it to bring the frame down where it looked right. Love the diversity out there it would be a boring world if we all liked exactly the the same thing. A few safety Nazis have thrown shade but I get mostly positive feedback.
When I was accumulating parts for the original build 30 years ago a friend donated the 21inch front wheel with the rotor already attached along with the banana caliper.
@@jimhmod Thanks, the paint on the Electraglide is called Charcoal Silver. Harley Davidson only offered it in 77 and 78 with only 500 examples being made.
My concerns about this bike are safety. It sits so low you can't lean it without scraping parts. I've seen the open primary on bikes but just don't know why you would want it & the potential danger there as well. Now for running with no front fender - everything you encounter on the road will either fly all over the bike or in your face. Not a good idea. I'm guessing you don't ride this very far or often but maybe I am mistaken? I've been riding for 53 yrs and have owned some choppers when I was in my 20's. Pans & Shovels. Then I watched people get hurt on them. I wouldn't even think about riding one now because they are way too dangerous & illegal in some states. I still ride but not on those things. Stay safe & good luck. Drivers are crazy out there & distracted. At least put some good brakes on it and a front fender.
