Thank you for this. I need to replace wheel cylinders on my Dodge and I really don't want to struggle with the shoes. I've only ever worked on disk brakes prior to this.
I would change the brake shoes since there is brake fluid all over the cylinder and that contraption looks mighty iffy for just changing brake cylinders. Jacks are more secure in my opinion.
What contraption are you referring to? If you’re referring to the lift that is made of solid steel weighing over 1000lbs on its own and has a weight capacity quadruple that of a jack stand, then you might want to do a little more research. Look up Rotary car lifts. They’re damn near considered the best lift manufacturers.
