You have given me hope. I'm having the same problem with rear body mounts. Seems overwhelming but now I have some sort of reference to go by

Glad I️ could help! I️ was dreading the project but once I️ got into it and got a plan it wasn’t terrible

Hats off to you, that was a lot of painful work. When you started cutting into the body panels I was feeling your pain. It turned out great though and looked really solid! Awesome work!

Workshop & Wilderness Adventures thanks! I think overall it took me about a month or month and a half of nights here and there to finish. Definitely was a very relieving project to finish. Eventually I’d like to get a new frame and tub and do something similar to what you did as rust preventative.

@@jtmoffroad Wow that's a lot of work but good on you for keeping the jeep alive. I would definitely recommend the Dinitrol 3125 cavity wax and hose for inside the panels and frame and Tetroseal on the outer, I swear by that stuff so much I order it from the UK and get it sent here to sweden. I will do a video on the stuff if your interested.
@jtmoffroad
@jtmoffroad 5 лет назад
I saw you use and praise that stuff in your videos. When you used the torch and scraper to get the tetroseal off the frame, my jaw dropped. I couldn’t believe seeing shiny metal under neath. I’m about to be building a Chevy avalanche and really want to protect the frame like you did. I looked the stuff up and I’m going to see how to get it over here. I’ve never ordered anything over seas! My buddy who introduced me to your channel is going through another Cherokee build and he’s got a very similar build in mind to what you did. He’s sold on the tetroseal and dinitrol as well. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to do a video on the stuff sometime. I’ve seen you use it in your videos but it would be a great video by itself to show what you do and talk about longevity and what not.

@@jtmoffroad Yeah it's great stuff, can be messy and a extremely annoying if you put it on before needing to weld, but if you do the work then put the stuff on your done for many many years. Especially if you thin the first few coats down with thinners and then follow up with a couple of thick coats. I will make a video on the stuff and show how its holding up on the jeep.

Reminds me of doing the BL on my 99 TJ. I also had to cut access holes. What a nightmare.

I'm thinking of just drilling straight through and using all thread when I replace my mounts. Just using solid plastic round with the all thread through nutted on each end and cut off

Excellent video how to replace the body mounts. I'm doing a YJ and did the same thing. lots of welding, fitting, cutting and grinding. Making it up as i go along...

Thanks! Yea that’s the nice thing about having a fun vehicle to play with. Just have fun with it, if you can call all that work fun... haha! What year do you have and what do you have planned for it?!

Great content man! Love your channel. But, I do have a quick question. Why didn’t you just pump the gas strait into the truck instead of into the other tank and then the truck? Lol just curious
@jtmoffroad
@jtmoffroad 5 лет назад
I appreciate the compliment and watching my vids!! Honestly I think I was gonna put it in that tank and let it sit but then after the fact I decided I was gonna put it in my truck

@SoggyCilantro

could you do a video that shows how you did the vents/holes in the side of your hood I love the way that looks. I am about to tackle a body lift on mine but I got lucky no broken bolts at all
@jtmoffroad
@jtmoffroad 7 лет назад
Shawn Wicker yea I can do that! Won't be very soon but I'll get to it. Won't be able to recreate it but I'll show what I did. Not professional methods by any means haha.

3 bolts broke on my 95 when i did my body lift. both the mounts under the seats, and one rear by the driver tail light.

Blah that still sucks! How did you go about taking care of that

same way you did, with a cut off wheel, and a welder to stitch it back up

Someone had the floors off when they did the body lift on my 95 yj and used nuts on top so, you guessed it, they all spun. 11 holes in the body later... Body mounts suck
@jtmoffroad
@jtmoffroad 6 лет назад
Ugh that’s terrible! They definitely should have had a better design
@adamj8989
@adamj8989 5 лет назад
I'm back to this video because I'm about to tackle this. What did you do with the mounts under the floor that broke? Did you run the broken bolts out from the top?
@jtmoffroad
@jtmoffroad 5 лет назад
I cut the floor open to pull the rest of the nut and bolt out that broke. Welded in new steel and welded a new nut in and welded it back shut. Does that answer your question?

Good luck man!!! I hope you have better luck than I did. How bads the rust on yours?
@adamj8989
@adamj8989 5 лет назад
@@jtmoffroad It's got rust, but it's a 95 so it's not as bad as some I've seen. I have to take the tank out to repair a spot on that gas tank crossmember, which it looks like you already have. I figured if I have to go that far, might as well do the body lift at the same time.

I’ve use a torch till they are pretty much glowing, then the first thing I do is slightly tighten them followed by backing them out.
@jtmoffroad
@jtmoffroad 5 лет назад
I need to get a better torch so I can actually get bolts red hot. Some of those bolts were too far gone though but def would have helped for a good majority of them

Shit man makes me glad I live in texas. Almost zero rust here, best thing I ever did was a 1" body lift. It allows you to clean out all the mud from under body along with washing out frame and drilling drain holes.
@jtmoffroad
@jtmoffroad 6 лет назад
That’s one of my favorite perks of the body lift being able to spray out the top of the frame better
