Today we check in to the mini cabin in the woods to button up a few things! Installed a door handle, some sanding, some staining, and dug out a couple little stumps that I kept tripping over!

Mini cabin looks great. I built a 8x6 this summer. It’s fully insulated has steel siding and roof, 5 gun windows and 2 bow windows. I call it my sniper shack, my wife and granddaughter call it their she-shed. Shot a big buck out of it yesterday morning so it was well worth all the work!

Just a couple of points on the mini cabin door - usually have the ledged and braced side of the door internally, if facing externally the projections tend to hold rainwater, another minor point on the door is that the top brace is running the wrong way, they rise from the hinge ....to support the outer door edge. Otherwise looks good!

Mike I been watching some RU-vid Videos on the Little Buddy Heaters, and most of the videos recommend that you buy a filter for your conversion to a Propane tank with hose to catch any debris and prolong the life of your heater. Please check them out yourself, so you don’t get caught off guard in your your outdoor cabin in the woods without any heat.

When my pop passed I inherited a little Ryobi trim router. Came with one of those bargain basement tool sets they offer. I gotta tell ya, for little jobs like rounding the edges of a railing or any lumber its slick as ....! Takes the splinters outta the picture and gives a nice finished edge. Just an idea. Thank for all the great content and your time!

Way back in the day my dad built a cabin down on some land that he rented. He had a friend that worked on the railroad and somehow he had a wooden box car dropped off at the site and took it apart and used the wood for the cabin. 1 room, kitchen, dining area, bed room, living room all in 1 room. The cabin was about 20x30. The sofa was a pull out bed and then there was another roll around bed that folded in half, oil heater and LP for the stove. No running water and an old ice chest to keep things cool. No electricity so we had lanterns for the night time. Those were the good old days

Ever think of replenishing certain wooded areas with specialty trees like Walnuts, Orchard trees up at the old orchard area [specific kinds of apple trees.. maybe a couple of pear trees?]. Talk to an arborist about what trees need specific kinds of protection from the wild goats errr... deer. :-))

**Heater issue**. I built a similar cabin for my friend in upstate NY. Very similar except on 24’ high posts. He has wrecked 2 heaters running them off 100# propane cylinders. He claims they died because they are “junk”. Truth is the directions say if you are using anything other than 1# cylinders you must use their filter. Little bits of rust from the 100# tank clogged the tubes on the heaters.

Good morning Mike, man that tall blind looks great. That door turned out super cool !! Those windows turned out great as well. Enjoyed watching everything especially how slick it was removing those stumps and at the right time too. Are you going to use the backpack leaf blower to clear a walk-in trail? I use to take a rake to the woods before squirrel season, found a stand of hickory’s but they always heard me coming and clearing the trail helped me fill my bag. Be safe and good luck hunting. Hope your youngest will hunt this muzzle loading season. Thanks for sharing with us.👍👍👍👍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Good morning from the western Ozarks. Good hunting season here for opening weekend. Six tagged, 3 of them really big, a fourth a big body/smaller rack 9. Two meat animals. Next door neighbor shot a really big 9 just after it crossed from our land to his. I’m back to fence row clearing today. Severe clear (aviation term) out today. 39 when I woke up. 55-60 for high expected. Gonna be great. Mini Cabin looks good. Hi to OWTM Hunter! I would have grabbed a ten foot chain and a grapple hook out of the Ranger and yanked those little buggers out. Woulda been done before he got back to the house for the tractor. Everything has a chain, some hooks and some rope in the back somewhere. Even my Ford Focus car. You just never know when you will need them. If you do not have timber around then substitute tow straps for the chain. Cleaner storage for straps usually.

When I worked in the power station you ALWAYS locked the padlock in the open hasp when you went in. It only took one time someone locked me in to learn this trick. It wasn't enough taking the lock with you, they would put a bolt or something in the hasp. Good laugh Ha Ha - sometimes they waited until someone else let you out. Good thing these were open cages so you could pass the key out and trust they didn't walk away. [ by the way I was their foreman ] cabin looks great take care

Yes, the chocolate color trim is way better. I was hoping for a more challenging stump. The backhoes on a series 1 tractor is great for trenches, bushes and holes to big to do by hand, but is tricky when it comes stumps. Particularly when you get to trees with a 6” diameter. Sometimes the root ball can be too much for it, but you don’t know till you start digging.

Mike - Great video. I'm amazed at how steady the camera is when you come down the trail in the side-by-side. Nice to see the mini-cabin again in a video. I'm thinking a second railing may make those steps kinda narrow when you're carrying things up or down. But it would provide a bit more safety when you bring Ty out. With two railings he may fall down the steps, but he won't fall off the side. Blessings to you, Melissa, and the family. Hi to Hunter, Hannah, and Eva.

When you run that hose to your heater, I recommended using an inline filter. You might be surprised how much trash and waxy substances come out of those hoses and tanks - all of which can stop up a catalytic heater.
