Thanks for the video on removing the steering box. I do have a question though. Since my pitman arm is loose on the steering link, would it be easier if I remove the pitman arm still bolted to the steering box?
When a shop basically tells ya you have to replace everything in frontend , ya may want to find a new frontend repair shop. This is like a shop that tells ya they had to replace your battery , battery cables , starter and alternator to fix a charging issue replace basically everything in the charge start system.Thats guessing and part swapping instead of really figuring out what is the real culprit that is causing problem.Maybe its just to drive up repair costs but the likely hood everything in frontend is bad all way to include the steering gearbox to the control arms and tie rods, is very very very rare unless you just never maintain or service your vehicles until everything is worn out.the steering box can be adjusted to remove some play and usually is not replaced.Just hear how customers say oh everything had to be replaced to fix a problem that required really only one worn part was causing. If you Don't maintain your vehicles and abuse them yea i can see the complete frontend steering system needed all replaced but this is very very very unlikely it all needs replaced to fix a steering issue.IMO this is only done to boost repair costs or done only when rebuilding a entire vehicle.Likely this needed a minor steering box adjustment to tighten up steering and a idler arm then a alignment unless this is like i stated a abused or poorly maintained vehicle.
