How to video on the 1996+ CK1500-3500 Glove Box Light Bulb Replacement.
Couldn’t find a video so I decided to make one myself.
In this video I used a 194 LED Bulb I purchased from Amazon . com or O’Riley’s Autozone etc. but the same steps apply for replacing the normal bulb these trucks came with from the factory.
Tools Needed:
Flat Head Screw Driver
Pick / Poker
194 LED or Regular Bulb
Step 1. Remove Glove Box by pressing in on both top part of the tabs when the glove box is open. then remove the glove by by sliding it down and out.
Step 2. Once Glove Box is removed lay down under the Glove Box and get a Pick of any sort and a Flat Head Screw Driver ready.
Step 3. Take the Pick and push the 2 Metal Tabs in, prying it away from the retainer/housing
Step 4. Once the Top and Bottom 2 Metal Tabs are released, take your Flat Head Screw Driver and Pry in to the Top or Bottom Tabs that hold the Metal Shroud (The Tabs that hold the Aluminum Shroud cover for The Light Bulb)
Step 5. With a Flat Head pressed in to the tabs, you may begin prying and pulling it out of the Aluminum Shroud. you may noticed the resting tabs will begin to release, thus letting the Aluminum Housing come out. (With a little bit of prying with your hands and fingers it should come out)
Step 6. Once the housing is removed resort back to your Pick, and press your Pick in to the Open Space behind the Light Bulb.
Step 7. With the Pick behind the Light Bulb, use the Pick as a guide and push the Light bulb out of its secure Housing. (it may fall freely)
Step 8. Replace Bulb by pressing the new Bulb in to the Socket, thus holding it in place.
Step 9. Replace Aluminum Housing back in to the Glove Box Light Assembly
Step 10. Press the 2 Metal Tabs back in with a Pick so it is now secure. (enjoy!)
