964 LED upgrade! How to convert your 911 headlights to LED (and how NOT to)

The short answer is: Buy 930 headlights and convert those. And then you can do everything I’ve done in this video. Here I’m attempting a conversion with my 964 H4 headlights with a Bi-LED projector found in a very popular headlight for the 911. Of course I also find out what I should have done instead. Hope you enjoy!.

You'd be surprised to see how similar 911 headlight buckets/parts/bezels are to old type 1 beetles, might even be able to share parts to further bring down costs

Very inspiring video! I'm been trying to understand the difference between the 930 and the 964 regarding the inner bucket: I have a 1970 911. Do you think I'd run inte the same problem as you did?

The bulbs heading the lends can be solved by shorting the threads on the light mount.

We’re you able to make the high beam flashers work? Mine work fine when the ignition and the light switch is on (both high and low) but with the light switch off, the „flash to pass“ does not work. When I plug the halogen H4 bulb back into the plug, it works as it always has. Any comments on this?

thanks for the posting this, i'm a long time 964 owner and have modified everything on my c2 except the headlights. £200 is cheap enough that i'm gonna do this even though i dont usually drive the car at night! Do you mind sharing what clear lenses you used, and will they be ok for the 930 headlights you need to use? cheers.

They were Hella clear lenses I bought off rose passion, they are actually meant for a 930 headlight housing, I'll add the link to the description!

The clear lenses are not that clear, I have them too, but on a Merc 1113. I wish you could buy quality polycarbonate or acrylic lenses for these. But great build! Couldn’t uou just trim the bucket some more?

Nice video, just subscribed to your channel! I didn't know that you can now buy entire Bi-LED projectors that just fit in place of an H4 bulb, I will look into getting a set for my 88 Carrera 3.2. Just FYI I am pretty sure the 930 headlights are the same as the ones from any regular G-body 911, this will make it much easier to find a cheap used set, everything with a 930 reference has a special price tag.... Could you be so kind and share the model for the shrouds, e.g. on Printables as that has STEP file support ? Then I will print them myself vs. buying the plastic ones from Aliexpress. LG aus Wien!
