A very long, struggle filled video that is probably 5x longer than it should have been on how to install polyurethane bushings on the track bar on a 1999-2004 Ford Super Duty. If you like watching a feller struggle, there is plenty of entertainment for you in this video. Eventually the job does get done, though I almost broke my personal rule of keeping my channel PG-13.

Its like $20 for MOOG track bar front bushings, it's $50-$60 for the front track bar assembly with bushings installed. I think you convinced me to spend an extra $30-$40

I would! I have no intention of ever replacing just the bushings again. I'll buy the whole bar next time.

Piece of all thread, Large Washers, and nuts would work also.

Yes that would also work. Probably way better than the vice I was using 😂 Still not as easy as just buying the bar with bushings already installed though 😂

Awesome job bud. I have a similar steering wondering too. Mines a 02 F350 4wd so I' need to be checking this as well. Thanks for the video & LOL on the PG-13. When I went to put my Turbo back on after I rebuilt it, it definitely wasn't PG around my house for a few hours LOL. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya

Thank you. It seemed to have helped mine. If I didn't do quite a bit of editing all my videos would probably be rated R haha.

Just curious, would a band clamp help to squeeze it in? like a Ring compressor??

That's actually a pretty good idea. I'm sure it wouldn't eliminate all of the difficulty but it would likely help some. It would probably help get it started as long as you positioned the clamp in the right spot, then once it starts going in remove it. If I ever decide to put poly bushings in another one I'll be sure to try that out.

I use a radiator hose clamp to squeeze one side down to get it started into the arm. Seems to work ok. It’s worthy of mention that I bought a new track bar on eBay with bushings in it for under $40 shipped.

Basically using the hose clamp like a ring compressor for piston installation. I wish I'd have thought about that at the time. Exactly why I recommend just buying the bar 🤣 For the price of it, it's not worth the hassle replacing bushings.

Pretty much! I think I can honestly say I'll never do it this way again.
