A “PERILOUS” Run Out In My Austin Allegro On Drive it Day 2024 

Great to see you and Agatha at a show! Drive it day is usually the first proper show that I do as well. Glad we had slightly better weather this year haha. That Princess was lovely, very rare too.👍

Good to see and hear Agatha again, that gearbox whine really does take you back to the 70’s and 80’s and even 90’s to some extent. I was suprised to see one or two non British cars like the Merc and Volvo and the Talbot, that means if I came over in my 2004 Citroen Dispatch van one day they wouldn’t mind! 😁 It does make you feel older when you see cars in a museum that you remember seeing everywhere on uk roads as a kid, I found it slightly ironic that a Princess wedge would get more attention than a Mk2 Jag, it goes to show how rare the Wedges are and how many people remember them in their Youth and on TV in Terry and June in the 70’s and 80’s. The A6 brought back some great memories, we used to leave the Old Talbot in Hilton on the bikes, head towards Derby and pick up the A6 at Allestree and head to Matlock on a Sunday. Really need to do the Great British Car Journey, might be time to get the Moggy back on the road. Chris.

Hi Rick, it's a great venue the Great British Car Journey, I actually became a member recently and I'll be going back to attend the Rover gathering that's on soon in my old Honda Civic.

Ice run out for drive it day Rick,has the knocking shut up yet ? Back when I had mine when I let it sit over winter the cv joint grease used to sink to the bottom of the joint and go hard when left over the cold winter months takes a bit of heat to get it moving around the joint again you might try a hot air gun on it but watch out for the cv gaiter.

Great trip, I’ve been there loads of times. You seem not too far from me, I’m in Nottingham. Hope the suspension noise is a simple fix.
