I saw this 86 in Elsies River and I remember thinking Ok 👌 that's just a cool looking 😎. But now I know it's not just cool looking... It's jas! High quality video to bru.
It would be nice to know how much the weight distribution changed after what is admittedly a very neat looking conversion because it looks like a lot of the weight has been shifted fore of the front shock towers which increases understeer, especially when you also have a staggered wheel and tyre combination. It looks and sounds great and probably works well in a straight line though which is the antithesis of this chassis design
So I did research on what the 2jz 86 guys do and got some advice locally after testing the suspension set up. 2jz is only 45kg heavier than the stock subaru motor(FA20) and I do get its weight is higher than a boxer but it's not anymore forward than the FA20. I have decent space in front of the motor still, check the engine bay shots so I have fully adjustable coilovers, more camber in front and made the front suspension softer and the back stiffer to bring the back end around easier reducing understeer 🙌🏻
It works just as well in corners like a stock 86 except I can go faster, the widebody helped alot with that 🔥 a big reason I love the 86 chassis it still keeps that stability in cornering, probably why it's the most popular car for an engine swop and in the drift world.
This is a mad convo to pick up guys i think on the limit here with the extra w8 it will most definitely not handle like a stock setup 86 thats a givern but it should make up for it in a str8 line. Its now at the point were its no longer the best at track but looks and sounds amazing.
@@chopwet not at all, the amount of money to turbo the FA20 compared to the power you gain and then on top of that the reliability issues wasn't worth it.
