@@mrpinkwood8463if this was real the a10 would have lost it wing and engine the only aircraft that is durable enough to withstand a 20mm burst is the su 25
@@Arcanus31 played war thunder like once. i learned from videos that a10 is functional even with 1 wing "It is designed to be able to fly with one engine, half of the tail, one elevator, and half of a wing missing."
@@war1775-mx9gy It's one of the easiest to kill planes in the US' arsenal, which is why the Air Force will send something that isn't an A-10 any chance it gets (which is way more often than not), and why they're looking to retire it. A-10 needs an inch and a half thick titanium tub to boost the chances of pilot survival when they get shot down, because it's not a question of "if" when the enemy has working anti air or it's a contested air space.
@@reaperreaper5098 yes, losing 6 planes and 2 pilots for 8000 sorties, 20 aircraft hit by SAM's and ground fire that returned to base, all during the first Gulf war against the densest air-defense coverage in modern history... it's SO easy to shoot down. Fucking braindead keyboard warrior
@@FishbedMyBeloved well I’ve never heard or seen any a10s dogfighting irl. I will say that anybody would agree that the a10 irl wouldn’t be suitable for dogfighting but it still ain’t a bad option for ata. It could carry aim9Ls to battle only, would just have to worry about being hit by the gun with all those flares dumping.
Fairchild-Republic had a long history building flying AFVs. The old joke was that no matter how long the Air Force built the runway, Republic would build a plane that needed every inch
@@Fulcrum205 must have come from the glorious thunderchief, it's the price you have to pay to make something go mach jesus on the deck with 1950s technology.
the survivability of the a10 is one of its greatest assets, reminds me of the pilot who got light up over baghdad and she realized the aircraft was unflyable and still managed to glide for long enough to be out of enemy reach
plus, people always seem to forget, its one of the most maneuverable planes we have. (it doesnt pull the G's that fighters pull, it doesnt have the turn rate that fighters have, but it has a single advantage. airspeed. it can pull a surprising amount of Gs at speeds low enough to stall out a fighter, which allows it to pull a tighter circle) theres an A10 with kill marks for both an F22 and an F16 painted on its side
@AmelpsXett ha.. hahaha.. hahahaha.... no. against SAMs and AAA. small arms are a joke to it. its designed to take hits from missiles and large caliber anti air guns and keep flying. small arms do precisely not a god damned thing😂
@@outkast937 lmao against SAM it's cooked 9 times out of 1 and it may survive 1 and 2 hits from large caliber AA but thats it It's not designed to survive anti air guns. No plane is designed for that because of simple physics And small arms fire isn't a joke but a real threat. It's a joke to the pilot's safety though, but with caviats
Eh, with seven barrels running correctly, The engines don't. Yeah, the starter for the engines hit whenever the "Boom Button" is released. Look that shit up. Merica.
@@Lightally16 yessir. The a-10 is a 30 mm Gatling gun with a plane built around it. The f35 is a super computer with a plane built around it. The f22 is a missle bay with a plane built around it. Literally.

Tbf if this pilot didnt screw himself over by flying in front of a still moving aircraft (why?) The a10 would have had no chance The only real reason its good irl is because it was used against countries without proper air defense
Actually it won't I've been to an air race where a a-10 flew without a wing and both it's engines destroyed. When I say "it flew" meant it flew long enough to land and get repaired @@supremegreaser2399
I saw a video with a guy from the navy, or maybe the airforce, talking about training. He said that they'd have to dogfight A-10's because of their slow speed and tight turn radius. Even with superior jets, people often lose the first time.
If a plane in front of you waves their wings either to dodge a stalling spin or avoid hitting you - Climb! Climb into a loop and slow your guns onto the target. They’re likely to try and get guns or a radar lock on you before they lose control, and crash. If they’re still airborne, it ain’t over. He killed you with the two-turn, got his guns to fire.
Yeah I was thinking the Hornet reverse his turn right into that. You can see he solved all the angels problems for the Hog. Do not reverse a turn. Especially not to try to slow down with something like an A-10.
Used to this treatment, play the SU-25 and one of the missions you have is to dogfight 2 A-10s. Many of my frogfoots have gone down in flames because of them
Air force: we'll make our jets fly too fast and too high for them to get shot down, use state of the art tech to scramble signals and jam radar. It will cost trillions but it will be worth every cent! Also Air Force: make it fly slower than fuck, use a depleted uranium bath tub as the cockpit, give it double everything, bladder the fuel tanks, build hydraulic and manual redundant systems, and put it all around this giant gatlin gun that also uses depleted uranium, and dont tell congress how cheap it is to build because they will try to retire it 50 years after service, even though it has 150 years of life left to go.
The Air Force brass really, really hate Close Air Support. It makes them subservient to the Army. Although advanced military studies show that effective CAS and BAI are the 2 most important roles for airpower The A-10 was created to screw the Army out of the Comanche program.
Jfc. The wing story only happened once and only part of its wing was sheared off, not its entire wing. The aircraft wasn’t designed to fly with a single wing. Also ALL aircraft are designed to fly with only 1 operational engine, that’s not a feat.
I feel Emile's death line after getting stabbed but as he's killing the elite in Halo Reach would be perfect for this Warthog: "I'm ready! How 'bout you?!"
Always be prepared for any aircraft that flys exceptionally stable at slow speeds to bleed speed and get behind you as their first reaction. He can fly slower than you and turn well at those slow speeds and hes smart to use it that way
The a-10 is a flying gun with a tanks worth of armour and twin turbines it takes WAAAAYYYYYY more than some mini brrrts to knock it out let alone “kill” one!
Fun fact, A10's have combat records of getting hit with missiles and still being fine. They said here's a gun, make it fly, and they for some ungodly reason made it a tank of the air we can't get rid of XD
Anytime I try to use multi-player it goes like into it but I can't do anything and the graphics get really bad sometimes the map just vanishes? Anyone else have this problem or have a solution?
You need some higher ended parts like mabye a better ram and and GPU. I’m not certified in any of this but I do know enough to talk. Also, if your PC has a lot of storage space taken up it can affect it too. A lot of times your PC will actually use the leftover storage in case your ram overloads, which is what it sounds like to me
@@Crustaceannationrepresentative Scissor maneuver. Idea is to bleed speed without giving a clear, steady shot. Only useful for dogfighting with guns. If successful, the attacker will overshoot you, and now you're in a position to fire back. If unsuccessful, you've hopefully evaded long enough for a friendly to come up and engage your attacker.
Armor piercing ammo is actually the worst ammo to take down another aircraft, as they pierce cleanly through the airframe and don't deform it Imagine poking holes into a kite
@@zezoo2107 You just saw with your own two eyes it getting shot down by an F-18. Any plane is able to take down the A-10 with guns, its most definitely not “muh flying tank”.

@@Tabs_Originalyou should've climbed out above him where he couldn't follow. Diving let's him use gravity to put his nose back on you. Basic BFM dude...
You don’t follow through like that, once you ensure contact you break and reassess your situation before re-engaging, no one with combat knowledge would spiral an aircraft they have a keen advantage over To add the A-10 cannot fight against anything in the air, it’s too slow and heavy to react in combat situations, it was purely designed to neutralize ground threats your hornet can easily make that thing disappear from 3 miles away on a simple radar guided or heat seeker and once that smoke is flying there is literally nothing the A-10 can possibly do
This was a guns only scenario. The a-10 is a surprisingly hard fight if you take it 1 circle. It can put its flaps down and rate inside just about anything. I obviously didn't make the best choice here, lol

Thing is built to be hit by multiple rockets and still be able to land safely, it can lose wings, engines, etc. Due to its incredibly slow speed, and the roll it fulfills.
I really don't understand why the people make that stupid mistake. Just go vertical an avoid flying right out in front and dying, it's really not hard.
This is what happens when you give us Florida men a lab coat and the US Defence budget, we make things that are scarier than anything airborne since the Cretaceous period
Sigh. All the Soyhog fanboys in the comments. The only reason the F-18 got downed was because of pilot error. If the F-18 didn’t cross in front of the A-10, it would be a different story.
