please start interviewing the owners before you drive their cars. We would like a build breakdown and everything straight from the owners mouth. C’mon it’ll only take about a few minutes, I don’t want to change your formula but never be afraid to try something new! Note: if the owner wants to be on camera of course
David I have made so many replicas with the same mods on forza including your cars you've driven including the black eg with a violent turbo. That one got stuck into the sand dunes on that track long track similar to nurburgring because I put a b18c5 turbo 600 hp going 200 +
Back in '04, I helped a classmate with his sleeper build of a 90s Accord in our high school's shop class. The first weekend after we completed it, he made the evening news for evading the police after a street race.
Exactly. I have way more fun window shopping for a beat up Honda or some piece of junk that you can actually buy on a whim and build over a few months rather than hoping one day maybe I'll win the lottery and have a twin turbo Viper or whatever 🤷🏻
@@ultraneightnot just that there are hundreds of videos of BMW's, Hellcats, mustangs, lambos it's much more refreshing seeing these builds still getting done.
@@ultraneightno it’s bcuz u can have fun with 350whp on any road any light unlike over 1000whp car that needs long roads cuz u run out real quick u really can’t use 1000 anywhere
@@DrivenFilmsPhotography sleeper accord still beautiful bro bro it was your cb7 that got me to buy mine thank you for that btw best car ive ever owned!
Such a refreshing video...to the few of us that were car enthusiast long before Fast and Furious, the group that had boxes of D-Sport mags and Super Street subscriptions this feels so good for the soul ,no huge financial hype, no 1000whp or no good build ,Just a good 350whp build using what you have and enjoying it.Great job David reminds me of why I subscribed to you channel many years ago.
David you did a amazing job with this video bro. Definitely glad we got to hang out and vibe. Glad you enjoyed tbe car as well man! Look forward to letting you rip future builds 🫡
As both of you guys being my favorite RU-vid car guys, I smiled when I saw the thumbnail under David's channel and recognized the CB7. Much love and rock on!
My first Honda was a CB7 H22a turbo swapped. Bought it for like $900 bucks. Had some problems but once fixed it made 330 HP... Fun car when you was only 18 year old.
I've waited 10 years for you to make this video. This CB7 was purchased brand new and kept it in the family. It's still on the road at 250K miles. Same powertrain.
Damn this brings me back! I went to a vocational school from 98'-02', and I can't tell you how many dudes I knew in auto shop that built the ugliest shit boxes that flew, just like this one! Everyone had a sleeper, and the auto body shop had nice, clean cars that were slow. That was one of the good things about going to a vocational school. A lot of us had bad ass rides that moved! This is like watching my childhood. Thanks for doing this.
I was messing with mine one day and they started to work perfectly! For about 30 seconds until I started to hear the seatbelt alarm them I had to turn them back off lol
@@EddySpaghetty I believe you can still get Honda to do the repair for free since it's a safety item. They did mine back around 2010, no charge and a free full inspection! I'd call your local dealer and find out 😎 🤙
I had a 1990 accord just like this but it was green. I absolutely loved that car. All i did was exhaust and an intake it was a blast. All those 80s and early 90s japanese 5 speed cars are so fun and visceral. Mine did wicked burnouts until smoke was pouring in through the ac vents lol Lots of great memories with that car as a teenager
I had 2 of them, one of which had an H22A swap b4 it was totaled.. I still have a soft spoy for that Accord Body style. He is a God amongst men for 350 in that..
Accords in general are underappreciated we had a 94 CD5 that had 300+k miles on it before it finally died. That car started my love for hondas now im looking for a CD7 wagon for a daily
I had a 92 ex accord 25 years ago. I had planned to turbo it but I had a disagreement with a light pole. I'd buy another in a heart beat if I could find a good deal. Great cars they were🎉
I had one of these back in high school and I remember it fondly. The F22 engine had enough torque to just dump the clutch at a stop and get going without stalling. The Civics I had afterwards needed revved a little to overcome inertia. I was young and dumb and slapped a Apex exhaust that was found lying in the street on it. Probably sounded like shit but I love it. Subwoofers, a touchscreen radio, and pink HID headlights rounded off what I did to that poor thing. It kept going for easily a decade after I finally sold it.
I currently have a f23a1 swapped 1993 Honda Accord, same color and interior color as that one! It's such a fun car. Turboing it like this is my current plan. Glad to hear it's such a blast.
I have a 1990 JDM Accord (CB6) 2.0si Exclusive Coupe with a big Holset turbo in my garage! Owned it for 9 years now and don't think ill ever get rid of it.
About ten years ago I built 271 whp 89 Shelby Daytona. 3,800 all in including the car. It ran constant 12.70's on street tires ( I was afraid to run slicks) and did 45,000 trouble free miles before I sold it where I made 1,200$. I would get another turbo Mopar but the cars and parts are getting expensive and hard to come by.
I have a neighbor with a black and gold 85 Daytona that's in excellent condition...it hasn't moved an inch in the seven and a half years I've lived next to him.
Cb7 is wonderful, cd5 is the real gem. Good looking, nicer interior, seats 5 with luggage, reliable, and fast as f boi when you g-swap it. I miss mine. I bought a fit to replace it and it was a mistake.
8:04 i remember making a pull with my 91 EF hatch with a full bottle @ 1,200 PSI and a 100 horse shot pill setup. It made 167 horses on the GROUND. I waxed ALL Mustang GT's...ALL Nissan 350Z's...ALL Hyundai V6 Tiburon's. It was good times back then 😂😂 She's retired now, just a weekend cruiser.
I know we have all of these safety regulations but I still wish that the new Accord had proportions like that. For a design that hit the streets around 35 years ago, it has aged quite gracefully.
I had a ‘93 Accord EX coupe 4 years ago. I’ve always loved this body style! Only had 137k and I was the third owner. Man I miss that car. As far as reliability I think it might be the best engine Honda ever made. I wanted to do a motor swap but it never happened. This car is awesome!
Have a cb7 accord coupe with an h22 and absolutely love it. Amazing video and awesome seeing drivenfilms cb7 after finding his channel couple months ago.
I bought a beat up cb7 and only had it for a few months. Swapped with an H22 it was fun while it lasted. Most rememberable thing about the car was the huge dash.
These are my favorite kind of builds, much prefer seeing what someone is capable of doing with a lot of knowledge and little bit of money versus the other way around.
Reminds me of my 82 Supra build back in the day. It was legit a junk yard car I bought for $700, slapped a turbo manifold and turbo from a 7M on the old 5M, and custom exhaust with a stock look. Dyno'd out at 376hp to the wheels. Back then most people my age didn't even know WTF it was but I was smoking Mustangs and Camaros all damn day lol
The owner is a cool dude. I have a somewhat similar build. Built h22a1 no swap in my 93 prelude vtec. Gt35 turbo that cost 280 $... e85 ,stage 2 cams, jdm lsd and thr exterior is completely stock besides a mugen front bumper that looks oem +... twin disc clutch
I just bought a Base model Rsx for 450$, its auto and im gonna manual swap it on my driveway because i dont have a garage or much tools. But im going to try to make some power out of the base model K20, with a ebay turbo. Does anyone have any tips or ideas so i can make reliable power with it??
If it’s the k20a3 then maybe build up the head , otherwise ep3 trans for budget and maybe upgrade injectors. If you blow it up worse case you go to the yard and pick another one up. Personally I would maybe try for a k24a2 out of a TSX then send it but the k20a3 isn’t bad either for getting into things. If you also don’t want to do much to the engine then go with a decent suspension and maybe wider tires , GOODLUCK with the build tho fr 🫡
That car had double wishbone suspension. It handles better than even the 9th gen Coupes. The 10th and 11th gen Accords dont really matter anymore. But to handle better than the legendary 9th gen coupes is INSANE!
I had a 91 honda accord and swapped a jdm motor in it and it was pretty quick for a stock motor. Wish I could have turbo charged it. My first car ever was a 89 honda accord lxi. I loved that car so much. Had the pop up lights and everything
I was waiting in this one!!! Great video as usual bro! I LOVE the cb7. It was my 1st car and it’ll always be my favorite Honda. I’ve owned 3 of them. ❤
That is a 1993 Honda Accord which did initially ship with an F22 and power steering. CB7's usually are swapped with an H22 from a Prelude, and usually in a two door. The F23 really is basically the F22 architecture, and as such, isn't really built for FI. Now, I will say for $200, I think the builder is withholding some parts from the build price: The turbo itself was probably $200... along with over $1000 for other parts around the turbo (be they bought or fabricated) and tuning. Regardless, a 350whp F23? Unless the block is built, I cannot see this engine surviving too many WOT pulls. That said, I had one of these when I was younger, so I definitely appreciate the build.
Love it! I love the 90s accords. They drove nice. And I really feel the original point of “hot rodding” a car is to be faster than the richer guy’s car for less money. If you spend BMW money on your Honda or 911 money on your BMW then you’ve missed the point.
Got offer my grandmas old cb7 when she bought a new accord when i totaled my Ranger. Flipped it. Passed the and got a new edge mustang the year it came out. 28 with a gt new edge. I was a tire burner. 15:08
Yeah man, 200hp is a fun time in that era car. I was thinking about finding a CRX or DelSol to do an NA build, but now I have a family. I decided a Volvo 240 was a better grocery-getter.
One of my favorite cars from back in the day they used to do the runs with the gorilla box out back. Shouts to the OGs who couldn't afford an Acura joint.
15 years and 6 different cars since i owned a Cb7 and i still regret selling it. crazy reliability from those f motors.. bring back pop-out quarter glass
I used to have a 6th gen with the f23a1 i had dreams for that car....i moved on it had too many mileswhole car was falling apart except for the engine im a nc miata guy now This video definitely spoke to an older version of myself
If he needs the heater on to keep it cool, he likely just needs better ductwork and maybe a front air damnright behind the radiator to help make a low pressure area right behind the radiator to keep it cool. Could also be cheap junk fans if it’s getting hot at idle…. The cheap fans rarely (if ever) have the cfm of the stock fans.
