I have alopecia and I shaved my head, so I know exactly what she's talking about. But listening to her speak about it and knowing that I'm not alone makes me feel so much more confident and proud to be who I am. Marvelous speech! I hope others are able to listen to her message.

The trauma of losing all of one's hair should not be underestimated for everyone, particularly women and the young. I lost mine at age 13 years and I remain bald at age 64 years. It was a challenging journey particularly during adolescence. I would, in principle, love to have a bald girlfriend. Not because I need someone who looks similar to me but because IT REALLY DOES NOT MATTER. Leastways not for me. What I do find unattractive are wigs, particularly when worn by men. Bald is beautiful. Believe it! If you are comfortable with how you look others will sense it and be comfortable with you. Smile a lot. Be happy!

I met a girl who has Alopecia, she lives a reclusive life. She has isolated herself, quit her job, lost her marriage, lives with her parents hiding away from everyone. She is just an acquaintance and she is also reaching out but she really is having a hard time accepting her condition. but I myself am a recluse and asocial and I don't know how to help her. But this really helps and I wish she can live a brave life like you and not punish herself. I wish I could be of some help getting her back living a full life in the open
@MzClementine
@MzClementine 6 лет назад
Bha Ratha just by acknowledging this is a movement forward. Maybe you can find a reclusive connection within this person. I find in life that we need each other in so many ways. Take this video and share it with this person with an open heart and open arms for a hug. In life it take just one soul to make a huge difference in someone else’s life. Opening up and sharing our own insecurities and hardships showing that we too have roots that have set that don’t carry us in a healthy loving manner, showing our fragile hearts can move mountains of energy within each other. Who knows what fractal event you may unfold within this action. Who knows you may already have. I hope so. 😉 In all even the acquaintance friend can become a true friend. Seeing she needs so encouraging and love for herself is a brilliant light, reflect this onto her path for her. Help her move her mountains of blocked energy. 🤔💜✌🏻

I've alopecia aeriata and I've been undergoing treatment for almost 2 yrs.. I lost my hair when i was only a yr old.. the immunosuppressives have worsened my health conditions so that I've to discontinue it for a short period.. I've been wearing wig for my past yrs... I always felt bad abt my condition..this talk made me feel not to be ashamed abt this... I'm extremely thankful to Ms.Michelle, who is an inspiration for people like me.

As a young woman who has alopecia and goes about bald since 2 years this is such a wonderful encouragement to keep going! I have literally had zero bad experiences when it comes to people talking about or handling my situation. But of course, people stare -- and I see myself and above all, I see all the other young women. It's my day to day challenge and 90% of the time it's good. The very very devastating 10%... well, there's gonna be you, reminding me of what I'm doing and why. :)

What is the use of a woman who has beauty, but not true, will leave you when you need her the most, will not share with your suffering. Finding a partner is like friendship. You prefer to talk to a person who is sensible and happy to be with, than one who is arrogant and oppressive. Yes I do desire this so called beauty, but I would prefer more the beauty that lives inside, because If I were to choose between a kind woman but not beautiful, and a beautiful woman but not kind, I would go for the prior one.

My life in 11 minutes...I agree it is harder for woman, but the suffering is equally the same for man. I'll be 42 this week, so I just don't care what people think about me now - I have my family and true friends that will talk to me as a person - if they don't talk to me that is their issue not mine. Well done Michelle.

enjoyed your talk. when chemotherapy took my hair (with the help of my sister--in-laws scissors and a razor) I was not devastated, I was and am very happy to hum India Ire's song "I am not my hair". I was always seen as the woman with the "big or long"hair, so much so that I was thought to be wearing a wig or some other artifice. Living without the hair is not traumatic. It's taking its good old time growing back - in fact, I get a haircut every 3 months or so. Do I want my hair back? yes but, can I live without it - yes.

This was wonderful. Even if I wasn't experiencing my own journey, I would have related to the struggle around mainstream commodification of female beauty. As a 2 time organ transplant patient and being on immunosuppressants, my body is now ridding itself of this hair thing and om so sad. O AM, however, so.oncredobly blessed with these 2 awesome organs )kidney and pancreas) and determined to enjoy my body and my mlm life. I'm planning to shave soon and want to be in a mental and spiritual space of grounding and positi it. O am truly excited to enter this new phase. Thanks again.

Personally I think she’d be STUNNING without the eyebrows too. Maybe false eyelashes, maybe natural eyes, but wow! That’d be so gorgeous. Something fun she could do that I find fun is a beaded headdress similar to one Whitney Houston wore in a music video. So fun. I have a buzzed cut and it’s truly freeing. I wear wigs sometimes for fun but I’m keeping my short hair as is. Took me a long time to get here but I’m free now

I am late but i now came across this video in 2018. Am a brain tumor survivor i had a double dose of radiation and my hair grew out and was falling out and i decided to shave my head and wear wigs because i was ashamed of how i looked , this happened when i was six years of age i looked different and wanted to fit in. I was free from hospital at age 15 and didn't know what was the net step,i wore wigs up to this day but am glad i came across your video i can be me but my only fear is the scare on my head that everyone will see. It did heal that well and am short everyone is basically taller than me.I'm 21 years of age will be 22 within three days,well am glad i could share my story how i could hear back from you if i'm not to late.Much love..........

Hey Michelle, thought I'd let you know you tipped the decision for me to go bald for Leukaemia Foundation's Worlds Greatest Shave fundraiser. I know it's not Alopecia, but your vid resonated with how I felt losing my hair during chemo. I was going to fundraise another way, but decided to be bald and beautiful instead! Even though mine was a different journey, I feel solidarity with baldies - from alopecia, aging or chemo!
