Super helpful! As a new player I picked up an enchanted falchion, looked it up on wiki and seen all the salt in comments. Videos like this inform new players in 1000 ways. Thank you.
I really enjoy your videos, I always learn something new when I watch one. I've played dark souls for a long time but i'm very new to pvp, and this build has been very fun! I hope you can make some more videos someday.
It seems you know what you're talking about. Would love to watch but I can't hear you. At max volume I have to hold it up to my ear, then I can't see the video. Idk if there is anyway you could make the audio of youself louder?
I think a good alternative for a low skill-floor playstyle would be to go with the Uchi instead. It doesn't have the nice 2hr1 that protects from bs but I think it's a much better weapon to learn using a full moveset and playing more defensively. I find it hard to poke when my opponent trades better when using a curved sword besides Queelaag's 2hr1 And yeah, getting spaced is also a huge problem, of course. Katanas deal much better with spear flippers or leo-halberds etc.
*thank you carving* im not really into dsr pvp and i hate the backstabs, but in ds3 i was pretty good. But in this game im being destroyed(i finished ds in 2013 and multiplayer never worked to me)and thism tips are very useful.
MugenMonkey link: mmdks.com/9v7g You can definitely change things here and there - 30 faith is not really that much worse, and you don't need WotG if you're not into it, so that's like 22 SL saved that you can invest into capping 40/40 vit/end or whatever else you want. I also use BSS instead of the Estoc because it's more fun, at the cost of not staying true to the original character.
You need to find the base Falchion, upgrade it to +5 at any blacksmith, then give the Large Ember to Andre (by the Undead Parish bonfire) to ascend it to +10, then take it to the Giant Blacksmith in Anor Londo to make it lightning.
The only hard boss to beat to get it is the 4 Kings. If you're having trouble with it at low level, consider using Pyromancies in some capacity - either Power Within, which only requires the 1 attunement slot, or Great Combustion/Black Flame, which requires an upgraded flame + crown of dusk + probably Bellowing Dragoncrest ring to be effective.
It's good, but I'm of the opinion that it is weaker than the other options. In terms of impact, I would consider the Hornet Ring and the Wolf Ring to be the best by far, with Havel's and Favor+Protection a notch below. The Dark Wood Grain ring doesn't make possible things that weren't already possible, if that makes sense - whereas significantly increasing poise, crit damage, or equip load can massively affect your build's power and efficacy.
Yeah those seem like really excellent options especially for a light build. I was planning out my first character and ended up settling on mugenmonkey.com/darksouls/613559 Do you happen to know if the thorn effect extends the poise timer? like if i black flame and hit thorns a couple times can i r1 for a stun 5 seconds after the black flame?
@@kristopherdonnelly5885 It also depends on the situation. Name is right that in a 1v1 at low levels, that extra poise makes things a lot easier to manage. But if you're fighting multiple opponents, nothing's more valuable than being able to run in, get a hornet backstab, and ninja flip away to safety. An extra 40 poise won't save you if you get mobbed by a host and 2 phantoms, they'll r1 spam you into oblivion. DWGR allows you to escape that situation when you otherwise wouldn't. However this is a beginner friendly build, and the extra i frames and recovery time probably won't be as useful to a new player as 40 poise would be.
i never thought a name could be this long I honestly don't think that spamming R1 with a twinked character will help newbies learn how to play the game
i never thought a name could be this long But it is supposed to be hard. Cheesing the game like this will not make you learn how to properly play it, nor will it make you acquire the required set of skills needed to be decently successful in PvP. Mind you, this is the point of view of someone who never cared for DS1 PvP in the old Gen and is just getting started with it
I don't think your point is unreasonable, but I do think that using a cheesy build can help you learn to play. My hope was that it will make it easy enough to win against other new players, but obviously would lose against people who know what they're doing, slowly showing why some things don't work and slowly giving people the means to improve. It would probably be better for everyone to just equip double katanas and grind it out, but it would discourage many people from even trying to begin with.
I believe those are the Dingy Gloves, though they don't provide any poise or meaningful resistances - just something I had around that didn't put me into mid-roll weight
Build is trash, it is gud for winning invasions but it teaches horrendous habits as not every weapon has a infinite stunlock, it also lacks a critical off hand weapon, it has poor poise optimization, u are using a head piece that could be mothers mask instead, not even a light armor to protect the bleed, overall a trash build
