Fondant is different than gum paste so you will not get the same result. You cannot roll out fondant as thin as gum paste and it's not as flexible. You can practice with fondant but you will not get the same results ☺️

Thank you so much for your sweet comment! I believe each flower would take about 15 minutes, they are used to be placed on cakes but very rarely to be eaten. The gum paste itself is made from sugar and others ingredients of course so it's like a sugary paste. The flowers dry so I believe it's not so pleasant to eat (the texture). Hope this helps ☺️☺️

It’s not about the money, it’s about how passionate you are about creating such beautiful artwork. Money is just a plus. Cake decorating is an art form, and it’s all about the happiness honestly. I totally agree! I'm only now discovering I seem to have this passion and internal desire to create beauty, whether it's through cakes or nail art. The satisfaction I get from it cannot be described. I've truly never experienced that before in my life. I can understand how many people feel lost in life because they do miss that feeling of fulfilment without understanding that they miss it. I know I was like that!

Young lady. I done seen a lot of Rose tutorials (even the awesome Kara KAkE Couture) but this is by far THE best one I have seen. The Best. I’ve practiced and made 4 in the last 2 weeks. While they weren’t bad at all for my first time-your video reiterated what I was telling myself...”don’t over think this”. It’s a flower and in nature all flowers are beautifully with different ‘characteristics’. And this is true even...in their own family groups. That rose is just beautiful and with nothing but simplistic procedural application. So often we watch others and try and recreate THEIR creativity not trusting our own. I had my idea to make it pretty as I envision my rose to look. But I was determined to go by the ‘book’. I am doing this again tonight and I am SO excited about it. Watching you I did realize one of my errors which created a ‘slight bulk’ at the base and that’s-not turning my petals slightly as I inserted them in the ‘inside’ of the last’. Hope that made sense. This was an awesome-AWESOME instruction. Just....awesome. 🙏🏾❤️🙇🏽‍♀️

@ButtercutBakery

Hi! Add cornstarch to the surface and the gum paste when working. Also, humid weather doesn’t help the paste dry but definitely don’t place it in an airtight container before it fully dries! You can place it in the oven and put the oven light on while the oven is off, some people found this to be a good way to dry fondant ☺️

Hi Wani! Drying it upside down so that the petals don't fall and the reason I kept on adding white gum paste is to have that ombré effect, otherwise you can absolutely use the same colour throughout the whole process!

Really best ever .my home made remain bit wet like sticky wt to do to make these 🌹.can we directly place fondant essents on whipped Cream cake , they won't lose their shape or colour ?

Hi! I use gum paste to make roses, I don't use fondant because it's you can't get the same result and fondant doesn't dry. When these are completely dry they will not leak on your whipped cream ☺️

may I ask if you guys know the reason why gumpaste melts? I was working on my flower, and waiting for it to dry but it just melted.

Very nice... But my question is after doing all this effort, does customer prefer to eat this sugar paste flower?
@ButtercutBakery

Usually they’re not meant to be eaten although edible… but these add more value than real flowers, they are more expensive ☺️

Absolutely! The most important thing is to keep it away from humidity and light!

Hi Jane, i started with a coloured gum paste and added white to the original one I started with for each row of petals to create that ombree effect 😊

Hi Abena! Thank you so much for your comment. I think it's called a fondant ball tool, you can search for fondant tools and it'll definitely show! x

How much would you charge for cake with sugar flower decoration..?
@ButtercutBakery
@ButtercutBakery 3 года назад
When I used to sell cakes I’d sell the flowers separately so price the cake alone regularly and then each flower alone. For the flowers, it depends on how much time it takes you to finish one but they usually range between 8-15$ i would say (of course the location differs). Hope this helps x

what can I do if I struggle to get my last petals to stick when making a big rose? x
@ButtercutBakery
@ButtercutBakery 11 месяцев назад
If water is not doing the trick, try searching for edible glue, they’re cheap and usually easy to find. You can also try and see if it can be made at home ☺️

I personally just cut it down but you can remove it if you prefer. It really depends how you’re gonna use the flower ☺️☺️

Maybe the edges of a rolling pin if you have the white plastic one like in the video

Is "gum paste" much different than fondant? And just so I know, because I REALLY want to try this, getting the petals to "stick" on with out smashing... I imagine that's a bit more difficult than this implies right?
@ButtercutBakery
@ButtercutBakery 13 дней назад
Hi Sarah! Yes it’s quite different because gum paste is more flexible so you can roll it out way thinner without it breaking or tearing. It also dries faster and harder, some fondant brands (most) don’t dry hard. So when it comes to making flowers it will not be the same outcome. You can make some using fondant but they’ll be thicker and not as detailed. I never had issues with petals sticking with water, if you ever do try searching for an edible glue. Hope this helps 🥰
