Great vid. Thanks. I've been finding what works for me is to capture combos with the cab for the most accurate capture of the amp, but capture just the amp if im capturing a head. I think that's the most versatile since im not interested in trying different speakers in my clean combos ( i mainly capture vintage rigs), but i like trying different speakers on overdriven/distorted heads. I like to make IRs of sll my cabs using my usually elaborate multi mic setups so i can mix and match IR mic positions specific to the sound I'm going for.
I think people should keep in mind that an IR is „just“ an EQ curve… so I think when TONEX does the heavy lifting you just end up with a different „starting point“ for you custom IRs… the captured feel and character of the amp properly stays the same.
not just an EQ curve. IRs are both frequency and amplitude dependent. The response will vary for any given input frequency and any given amplitude, giving something more like a 3-dimensional matrix than a 2-d curve
I’m new to the ToneX pedal. The manual lacks much as far as getting around the controls/knobs. Can you recommend a good video or instructions somewhere? Thx!
I just bought it and I fed that the presets are really noise? Is it like that? Also when I try to use the standalone software it sounds terrible but when I use it inside of the das it sounds better. Why?
Hello, could you help me with a question? I have captured my amp and I want to save the file on my pc or on a flash drive, but it has been saved in Tonex as a tone model, not as a preset and I cannot export it. Could you tell me how I can export my own capture to my hard drive? I would also like to know if there is a difference in capturing in Advanced mode or in Default mode
I did stomp capture of my OD pedal but how do I put it front of an already existing amp model? There is no place in ToneX Software for OD pedal (only noise gate & compressor)?
Jason- Great video series and as a new Tonex owner, I really appreciate the info. While trying to do my first capture, I keep getting a “Error while processing training files. Training will now stop" error and have no clue what's wrong. Mac OS Ventura, Axe i/o interface. Have you ever heard of this error?
Jason, I don’t understand why (when doing an amp capture) when I get my input signal perfect, I make sure it’s the same as plugging into the amp, then start the capture and it plays the internal riffs, they are SO much louder than the signal I set. Am I supposed to be playing the internal sounds and dialing in the amp to that and then start the capture?
Hey Jason - great content on your channel ... i got a question ... at the moment i am thinking of getting a dual rectifier - today i saw the tonex pedal online and wonder if it might be a good idea to overthink my amp plan. I need an amp to play bandrehearsals - i got a mesa 4x12 cab and now i am considering to pair it with the tonex and a Harley Benton GPA-100 and turn off the cabsim... do you think this would be a good idea? I cant find so much on this topic - most videos are about recording or playing directly into a pa system ... thanks for answering - best regards...
Please help, I have created toneX presets that I would like to use in Amplitube for a live recording .. One of the presets has a mix of amp and cabs that are from different tone models and are interchangeable in toneX .. but I cannot for the life of me replicate this mix of an amp from one tone model and a cab from a different tone model in amplitude .. can some one help please ?
Dang. Sure wish I could get the thing to work. Spent hundreds on stuff and all I get after hours and hours of trying to figure this stuff out is "Warning! Error while processing training files. Training will now stop. Please check input and output levels" And support never bothered to answer my last question I sent them last week so that's a waste of time !@#$%! Guess I'll figure it out some day but don't currently have much good to say about it right now other than I still love the Tonex pedal itself
