Great idea! However, the challenge is unscrewing it from the tree. The ball joint comes lose from the hanger bolt, even when i used a stop nut tight... Maybe permanent loc tite ?

I see the same problem!

I’m guilty to I’ve done that tat hundreds of times. Thanks for the tips I think I will use the second one. I used a tripod with a ball head and seems to work fairly well by the raccoons knock it over very often.

Cool mount. I use a very similar ball mount for my selfie stick and cell phone to do all my videos. Works great. Glad you have found this hack yourself. Awesome. Have a great day.

THIS IS ABSOLUTELY THE BEST IDEA! :) I've been involved with trail camera companies for years and this is the most simple/affordable application EVER! Better than ANY OTHER MOUNT METHOD EVER .... THANKS! HIGHLY recommend this mini ball head application for anyone looking for sensible mounting options in any scenario ... !

I have watched all your trail cam videos and learn a lot from them. I like the idea of this ball head set-up but have a concern about the range of motion when you pull the ball up into that 90 degree slot. Doesn’t that limit how much you can tilt the camera from side to side? Thank you for all the tips! Bill DeWitt, MI.

Yes I’m guilty of using sticks 😂 But my solution was two washers welded to the bolts. After the case broke on a ball one similar to yours

@@HuntingFarmerOfficial I will have to do a little video of the ones I make cos mounting trail cams can be a pain as you know, it’s a cheap & simple solution & you can just screw the mount to a tree or building, gate post or wherever & leave it there, I have about 11 in different places & the two other parts live on my two cams, just unscrew the bolt in the mount & pop it through the washer in the cam, all angles are easy to adjust & very strong not like the die cast that breaks when you tighten the bolt, & I airbrush them to match where the live, sometimes I can’t find em 😂😂

At the start I thought you had been watching us setup our cameras 🙂 I really like this mount, we will have to give it a go, thanks. I think we might struggle to find 1/4-20 hanger bolts, everything over here is metric but I am sure we can find a different fixing
@HuntingFarmerOfficial
@HuntingFarmerOfficial Год назад
Haha. Thanks for watching. I’ve always been surprised the camera manufacturers cater to us and not have metric fittings on the cameras 😁

Are you using the ball head to screw in the hanger bolt? Have you had any difficulty getting the bolt started when screwing into the tree? I am just wondering if using the ball head as a handle to screw in the bolt if it might apply to much pressure on the ball head?

Very cool buddy! I'm going to get a few of those for sure! I think I might weld a lag bolt to a short 1/4 inch bolt so I can screw into the tree with a wrench! Thanks for sharing my friend!

These seem like a great idea but they have a major problem. When you try to unscrew them from the tree the ball head unscrews from the hanger bolt leaving the hanger bolt in the tree! I haven’t figured out a way to keep that from happening. I have to carry a pair of vise grips with me to get the hanger bolts out of the tree!
@HuntingFarmerOfficial
@HuntingFarmerOfficial 19 дней назад
I have had that happen a time or two as well. Not ideal but I still love the flexibility it provides at a reasonable price 👍

Great tips Dave, this should be very helpful for so many… me included. We use ball heads that are mounted on top of our Trail Camera Mounting Stick and Tree Mounted Screws-In Mounts. However, they are made of steel and require constant maintenance and oiling because the ball heads rust/corrode. I could simply leave our metal ones permanently and operate positions in mount these on top and use these to control the camera angles. This could help me by making it possible not to have to carry cans of WD-40 into the field and removing the mounts from the field for maintenance. These will also be great on top of our camera mounting sticks. Will just screw these on to the camera mounts on the sticks and use this device to control the movement and angles of the cameras. Thank you sir, I’ll be putting dozens of these to good use in the field. Aho! ✋🏼 George Silver Hawk
