Sooo... RULES CHECK: *Wheel of Fate* doesn't have a Mana Cost associated with it. Any effect to provide it "Flashback" for said cost will not allow you to Cast it. So, *Recoup* is Fortune's best friend, but Wheel of Fate? Sadly no. -Patrick

Nice followup on Neheb. He really looks like a super fun Zombie Cattle and I think that being T1.5 with potential to grow really is pretty good, I feel you can pick this Deck up and tweak with it and this moreso then other Decks could be great for brewers. You guys mentioned Stax, but now I really wanna brew with that and imo. this makes it a much more appealing cEDH option to me then Niv Food chain.

I am always appreciative of any viable, mono-colored Commander. It’s rare we receive one that synergies perfectly with it’s piece of the color pie (Selvala), but Neheb does an excellent job and can keep up with the best of them. Even run away with a few games. -Patrick

This can be problematic. My vote: play even *more* aggressively. Neheb only has one speed, don’t let other’s change that. 🤘 -Neheb, 2020

I know this vid is a bit old, but do you think Neheb eternal would be an effective card in this? My thinking is that he keeps adding more and more mana throughout the extra combats/main phases. I'm building a spellslinger variant of it.

I love mono red and have been bouncing between Godo and old Neheb MLD lists for a long time. This seems like a really great deck to power up or down depending on which group I'm with at the time, because I have a cEDH group and an "everything, except we're friends and prefer 6-8 turn games" group. My neheb is soft banned from group #2. Somehow, new neheb is more fun to lose against. Haha.

Oh, Justin followed Shaper’s strategy... The most consistent build I’ve seen as of yet is Five-Colored Food Chain. Extremely resilient and tough to built. Here’s that list... tappedout.net/mtg-decks/food-chain-niv/ -Patrick

Thank you guys so much for your in-depth analysis. I had the pleasure of sleeving up the essence of your brew and got a few games in with it at my lgs today. I will say upfront that, regardless of cedh viability, this deck is such a blast to play. It's explosive, Neheb offers so much value, and their are so many puzzles to solve with what to play and what to discard. My games today confirmed your analysis that this deck desperately wants more wheels and more double-strike. His commander damage adds up so fast that every combat step matters. Stacking the double-strike with the extra combats is just insane and feels so satisfying. I have no solutions to the limitations of the deck, but I did want to ask: why do you not run Combat Celebrant and Dragon Mage? The former provides an extra combat step while the later provides a reoccuring wheel. Thanks again!
@LocalGameGroup
@LocalGameGroup 5 лет назад
I love the prospective advantage from the Dragon Mage, but he/she is rather slow... The Combat Celebrant rarely takes priority over other spells within his cmc range: he too is rather slower and can only commit to providing the additional combat once before a game is over (whether I’ve won or someone else at the point I’ve had him swing). The deck is looking to press the attack as quick aa it can, with as flush a hand as possible. It’s odd strategy that often leaves us passive for turns, but so long as Neheb sticks there’s a good chance we can annihilate the board. -Patrick
@lukef9720

This was a very in-depth view of the commander and the different directions a player can take with the deck, thanks! I opened a Neheb at WAR pre-release but I wasn't sure if it could be a commander (I'm somewhat new to MTG) so having this definitely showed I can do something with him. Coincidentally, I also bought the Aminatou EDH pre-con and was originally planning to make Yuriko the first deck I built. Now I'm conflicted since I don't know which one to build first. I would say that the biggest deciding factor for me is flexibility. Mainly, which one can I take to a cEDH scene and do well, while also being able to power it down and play in a less competitive meta without being hated off the table? I noticed with Yuriko, I become the archenemy since she does damage to the whole table. Does Neheb get hate as well or is he a little more under the radar? Which one do you believe is more competitive?
@LocalGameGroup
@LocalGameGroup 5 лет назад
Hmm, yeah, that’s a tricky question... I do love Yuriko. So, various factors come to mind, but to name just two: 1. Budgeting: Mono-Color - in particular, Red - is always more affordable to brew; 2. The game plans vary, but Neheb is easier to tune down (imo). With Neheb, you can have a tweaked, cEDH worthy list and be able to swap out a few of it’s core components to play a more casual table without hurting too much of your game plan. I think Neheb would be a safe route to go. Red’s inherent weakness against Enchantments may become a nuisance in longer games though. Either way, I’d make both lists! Haha, I’ve been wanting to brew Yuriko for some time, but I’m waiting for just a few more *Ninjas* to release first. Hope this helps. Be well and Happy Brewing! -Patrick

This is moderately upsetting to be honest. I really wanted to see this pan out and be great, but I think I'm still gonna build it. Maybe some cool cards will roll out of ikoria
@LocalGameGroup
@LocalGameGroup 4 года назад
I’ve won my fair share of games with Master Neheb: what were you hoping for though? Mono Red is the most difficult color to pilot. What the Deck needs is: more wheel effects, more protection and a few more cheap, Double Strike effects for Mana gain and Card Quality once rolling into Attacks (heck, a few more Extra Combats at non-absurd Costs would be great too). It’s definitely not as linear as Godo, but it’s a hell of a lot more fun to play and master.
@NateFromYellowfin
@NateFromYellowfin 4 года назад
@@LocalGameGroup yeah, I think I just in the end wanted it to pan out better than it did. I'm still building it seeing as it's a very interesting and fun looking build. It'll also be my first taste at cEDH so that's pretty fun.

@LocalGameGroup
@LocalGameGroup 4 года назад
@@NateFromYellowfin Here's my suggestion: try the Deck as it is, learn how it functions and these questions will begin to answer themselves, haha. It's mid-range Combo, play for Neheb to be swinging anywhere between Turn 3-5.
@insertphrasehere15
@insertphrasehere15 5 лет назад
It seems to me on a similar level to Zada in power level. It's strong but you can't really afford to play stax because it costs you too many of the cards that you need to keep in your hand to cycle with Neheb. I think Godo is better at cEDH mono red being more easily played as a heavier stax build with inevitability (combo in the command zone). Neheb is a bit less fragile (sort of), but it is actually easier to get locked out of your combo in this deck than in Godo, because how do you get relentless back from Grave if they Nature's claim it? Artifacts are much easier, so Helm is a bit easier to get back, even if the combo is higher in mana cost. I'd consider running Defense Grid as a protection card to cast Pre-Combat.
@LocalGameGroup
@LocalGameGroup 5 лет назад
I have a Defense Grid in the wings if it comes down to it, yeah. Generally speaking, it’s a fast-paced, “now or never” kinda deck. Def. Grid is one less card to drop & draw/ramp from. We’ll hold a Bolt Bend for those instances instead. Although, Grid is an excellent side option. Still, loving this deck. Far more fun to pilot than Godo. -Patrick

Quick heads up, Recoup DOES NOT work with Wheel of Fate because it doesn't have a cost. If there is no mana cost for the spell, flashback can't give it, it won't say "Oh, it's 0 now". Summarized from the Gatherer of Wheel of Fate.

I still think alhammarret's is still an auto include. If you have almost any stax card on the field along with this you're almost guaranteed a win by triggering neheb. The only time I think it wouldn't be included is if you set it up so that you will be able to wheel up to a larger hand size guaranteed every time you go under 5 cards in hand
@IlluminatiHottie
@IlluminatiHottie 5 лет назад
I also think you should consider a reshuffle effect, it would hopefully let you keep going through the deck and give you better odds to hit extra combat if you've already gone through a few of them
@LocalGameGroup
@LocalGameGroup 5 лет назад
I cannot tell you how many times Neheb has fallen on his face because of that one card. We don’t speak of (whispers) *alhammarrett’s archive* ... Anymore. To be blunt, it’s garbage in this build. *Mask of Memories* does more to fuel our hand for *Aggravated Assault* and for less (actually cast-able/useable on that same turn). Only if I did use (whispers) *archive* ... Would I consider a reshuffle. I have never decked myself, nor found a need to reshuffle. Again, *Recoup, Past in Flames & Finale* are all here to help us replay those effects: reshuffling and crossing our fingers is not the plan. Also, it’s important to note, with the various +Atk’s, Double Strikes, Extra Combats/Turns, we often only need 2-to-3 hits on one Player to destroy them. As we’ve concluded: this list needs more gas by way of Extra Combats, Double Strike Effects and mana efficient Wheels. As it stands, it performs well enough to hold it’s own. Which! Will be showcased very soon. -Patrick
