I bought one of these a couple days ago. Practice, practice, practice....I’m no barista. Last night I brought it to a Good Friday gathering at a friends house. I made about 8 servings and in that short period I got pretty good at it. Everyone who tried it was very impressed and a couple are going to order them. It really is a cool little set up. Thank you for the review. Chances are pretty slim I would not have discovered it otherwise.
Thank you Tim for showing me this!!!! Besides my new motorcycle the Wacaco Nanopresso is my favorite piece of gear of 2019 for sure!!!!! I did not even drink coffee at all until you made me a shot in Valley of the Gods and now I use this thing every day weather i am moto camping, working or sitting at home on a day off!! Absolutely game changing gear and you made a great video!
Thanks for this. I picked one of these up after seeing you use it on one of your other videos. I took it camping this past week and loved it. Love the channel! lots of good info and very entertaining. Cheers.
Been using the nanopresso for about a year now. Was waiting the Nespresso kit to come out and it’s made it even better to use and easier to clean than the grounds.
I've had my nanopresso for a while now and I basically don't go anywhere without it, matched with my jetboil it's perfect for being out and about but even at home or work it's the best thing!
Wow .you did a lot of yapping ...finally something about the espresso maker..all that trouble for a little bit of coffee..I felt like I fell down the rabbit hole and Alice was 10 foot tall ,I was in miniature .. drinking miniature coffee from a miniature cup..
I use the handpresso. You pump it like a regular bike pump but the difference is that you actually have an indicator that’ll show you when you get to the 15bar needed for the best shot.
Hi Tim, being half Italian, I'm very particular about my espresso, and have yet to find a better way to make it than in a caffetierra made by mokapress. I've tried different types , but the hexagonal aluminum types seem to make the best, non bitter , creamy (crema) espresso ever. That being said, the pot takes up more room than your nanopress, but I don't travel without it. The time it takes to boil water on my camp stove , creates the perfect espresso, and satisfies my habit....I bleed caffeine.
Sorry for being a coffee-nerd, but the hexagonial alu coffee-makers (Moccamaster) makes mocca, not espresso. I own four of these myself and they all taste differently
Ha,ha, call it what you will, but 99% of the Italian households in Italy , and sicily, have them, and they all call it espresso. @phil, it is "short black" better known as corto .
I'm a Moka pot girl since I visited Argentina in the 90's. OMGosh. What smooooth coffee. It's amazing that each different type (espresso, Moka/mocca, drip, perc, French press) all have techniques for each person's palette. I do have a hand burr-grinder. Great hand grinder, too big for motocamping. Fabbo for tiny toyhauler. In the end, when camping, I've found that there's a "something-something" that is added to the next morning's breakfast and coffee that makes that morning's fare special. That no-rush-going-nowhere-soon type attitude that is relaxing. To all, enjoy your cuppa, no matter how you take it!
This is one of the better looking products I've seen in a packable size. I just use the typical instant currently but I might have to give this a try. I look forward to see how you like using this over time. Thanks for sharing.
I was impressed with the compactness and packable size too. I will keep you posted as I get more use out of it. Right now I am using it everyday at home, that's how much I am enjoying it.
I love my Wacaco Nanopresso. Just takes practice. I take fat free instant milk power, dark coco Hershey's and honey. I make 2 shots of coffee with the double expresso kit that you can order as an accessory, 1 cup of heated water mixed with instant milk, 1 TBSP of Coco and a TBSP of honey. Delish!!!! I practice this at home over and over until I figured out the correct mixure for what I liked. Keep the rubber side down!!! I have a collapsible stojo cup
Hi Tim, just a thought: After watching so many of your videos I've bought 2 pacsafes of different sizes, 2 sets of Packing cubes, and bought the pillow you suggested. GREAT tips brother. Ride safe, Much LR&H from Omaha.
I used the original Minipresso for backpacking trips for the last couple of years, bought the Nanopresso and a hand grinder this summer and it is even better!
Thanks for the video. I feel the same way about coffee when motocamping/traveling. I literally received my Stanley Coffee press yesterday and now I’m considering sending it back after watching this. What a great little espresso machine. Thanks for sharing!
Backcountry Adventure Motorsports don’t get rid of that press - it is awesome on so many levels. Not only does it make a great cup of coffee, and lots of it, (3 large cups - 6 small) but it’s a great cook pot and i have steamed vegetables with a little bit of water in the pot and the vegetables sitting in the press! Great with the steak!
Lolo Shortrider thanks. I do think I’ll keep it. I do have the smaller version of that with the 2 cups, without the press but figured could replace it with the press and for my stove and cups inside keeping it all compact. It is kind of a do all. thanks for the encouragement.
had my nanopresso for more than a year now and its always in my pack. Work, travel, it's nice to know you can grab a coffee anytime. You'll be surprised how many people are willing to give you hot water just to see how it works. I'd say you are running into a few problems because your grind is a little too fine, dial it back a couple of notches and you'll get a much more consistent result. If you're into a single shots I recommend the nanovessel, you can pump through half the water to warm the machine then pop in the coffee and get a really excellent espresso. A neat little trick also is to pump through enough water to make it pop and get the first trickle then wait 15 seconds to allow the coffee to suck up a bit more water before pumping out the rest of the shot.
Nanopresso is my new rubix cube lol It makes great coffee/espresso and it is fun as hell to do and play around with NO JOKE this is my favorite thing I got to learn from you Tim!
I love that I don’t like coffee, but I love tea. It’s so easy to bring a ziplock bag of black tea and have my morning caffeine/hot drink. I’ll bring some powdered creamer and sometimes a little sugar and it only requires my canteen cup and MSR stove. I’m glad you found a good product to make your journey that much more enjoyable
I need one of these! For a simple cup of coffee motorcycle camping I have been using a Primula Single Serve Coffee Brew Buddy. Packs super small, cheap and it does not break.
hi tim love ur vids.i have a minnipresso it is the older model of the nanopresso. my minnipresso takes the nepresso coffee pods . i find this is easer for me to carry on the bike.great product. peace to u tim keep making great vids!
As usual, great video sharing your experience without the illusion that you have to be an expert to try and duplicate your success. I'm sure this will save your viewers, many mistakes. :)
I bought this with the Nespresso capsule adapter! Works really well, and will be cleaner to carry on the bike! Thanks for the tip Tim! I too, need a good coffee on the road!
Thanks for the tutorial. I tried using one this morning for the first time and it was a bit disastrous! LOL I will have to try your recommendations to pump slower and not tamp too hard!
I'm glad you got the Wacaco, you will definitely be impressed with it. As you have a French press and you said you love cappuccino, I can recommend you to forth the milk with the French press. It's amazing!! Can't wait to see where you're heading to this year. Good luck, man! Much love from Romania.
I stand corrected, as oaklydoakly stated, they are made by bialetti, the model is mokapress, and comes in 2,3, and 6 cup models. I always have the 3 with me, as if no one else wants one, I'll "force myself" to have the whole pot! ☺
Neat product. I only get one cup of coffee a day so it has to be perfect. This would be good thing to try while camping instead of finding a gas station or McDonald's and hope they did a decent job making it.
Having a home espresso machine I make lots of coffees. If I had one of these I'd be making Americano's. Run your machine twice, then pour all the espresso in a theroms and fill with hotwater. Makes for a beauty mug o joe.
Thanks Tim. One of my joys is the search for the perfect cup of coffee when motorcycle camping. I have been going back and forth between French Press and Pour Over for a while. Looking forward to trying out the Wacaco!
Wowww! You've made me have a coffee right after seeing this video! What a great peace of gear. I love coffee in the morning, during morning, after lunch, always :) I'll look into The Nanopresso right now, thanks Tim.
So glad you're doing this. I could even use this at home. The espresso machine I really want is $600 so not really in the budget right now. Using my Aeropress which I love but it's not true espresso. The testing of a coffee device is the fun part. You get to drink a bunch of espresso while you're doing it. Cue Sylvester bouncing off the walls while drinking coffee....
I have been using this everyday at home since I got it. It's wonderful! Beats buying a $600 machine for sure. So simple to use too. Yes, through the process of dialing in my method I have been miraculously extra productive lately LOL.
Hey Tim, That looks like a cool press. We have been using the Aero Press for years now and love it. It is bigger though and would take up more room on the bike. I would love to see how your new press works. You are welcome to come and ride with us and stay here in Northeast Georgia. We are a couple of miles from the AT. Be safe. Mark & CC
Nice video! I love coffee in the mornings also. I’m not a huge Starbucks fan but I travel with the Columbia Via Instant. Nice small pouches and it’s actually just microground coffee. 100% Arabica beans.
Hi Tim, how about a review of the Jetboil Flash with the French Press (accessory for the Jetboil), that way you don't need additional pots and gas canisters etc. additional to that the Jetboil can be used for all other cooking. It certainly is the fastest way to boil water. Would be interesting to hear your view...
LOL I picked the color because it matches my stove and pot, but yeah I guess it looks a bit like KTM orange haha. They have other colors but no BMW blue unfortunately lol. Ride safe!
Tim, I still can't sleep after that amazing expresso ;) Thanks for the first expresso i have had in 10 years it was actually awesome. Hope you got out of the snow for the night and are enjoying an amazing adventure.
@@FTAAdventures WOW man at least you are getting it over with hopefully. I am looking to get on from your link in the nest week or so. Sounds like you may change up your route and go away from snow lol that sh.. sucks in my humble opinion =). i just finished editing another video for the 2nd site moto camping gear time to tag and bag i mean upload it here soon. And if you are going to be stuck in snow time to build a lean to or something you can have fire in or near, sorry to hear that I am sure its no fun to drive in as us Utah drivers know to well.
Great vid ……. thanks Tim. I've had my Nanopresso for about 18 months and I generally use it with the Nespresso pod adaptor (and Jetboil). The pods are quicker, much more convenient than using grounds and the coffee is consistently good. My only complaint is that with the adaptor installed, it no longer fits in the carry pouch …… a minor inconvenience.
I will check out that pod adapter, sounds very convenient! I am looking at Jetboils too actually, probably with the pan adapter. Thanks for the comment!
Hi Tim. I guess the purists might say that grinding your own and brewing is the only way, but I've found getting that process consistent is difficult. The pods also give you the chance to conveniently experiment with different blends. If my experience is anything to go by, you'll find yourself making coffees for your fellow campers. As regards the Jetboil; under their cup and pans they have (what they call) a "flux ring". It gives excellent protection from the wind and makes sure the heat is concentrated under the vessel - result: quicker heating / boil times. Happy travels
Hi Tim that’s an interesting gadget . $80 that’s a little heavy. I enjoy my French press I think I payed around $20 and I do grind my own coffee beans that makes a big difference. I didn’t know how anyone can drink instant coffee especially after drinking freshly ground coffee. 🙄 cheers Tim & ride safe . 🇨🇦
Hi Tim, another well done video. I do like coffee on a ride I have tried a French Press but I found it was a bit time consuming to clean. I also like a full cup of regular coffee. So my method is to use a number 2 filter over my 16 oz. Kleen Kanteen. The filter holder fits perfectly. I usually consume this as I break camp. Then I make a second serving that I will carry on the bike so that I can have coffee at some scenic turnout. If you want expresso would seem to be the way to go. Safe Travels
BTW This method does not make expresso. www.bing.com/shop/product?oid=3046455214&offerid=IUA0BO4a7VaBVLt0cClKRtjB22&storeid=291&blid=8315179607954&q=melitta%20coffee%20filter%20holders&originIGUID=6829C6A8CD854790B79AA1C57F6AAA54&form=LIASTR a@@FTAAdventures
Thanks Mike! I have been drinking so much coffee lately trying to get my method dialed in, man I love good coffee! The extra energy is a welcome bonus to that, I've been so busy lately getting ready for my trip! Ride safe my friend
Man, I love my coffee and not a fan of instant but by the time that coffee is ready to drink I could have ridden 40 miles to a good coffee shop and be that much further down the road. Very interesting though.
You'd be surprised, they pack a hell of a punch. Stronger than a cup of drip/instant coffee. I tried drinking 5 and I thought I might have heart palpitations. Got a lot done though!
Cool little press, Tim. I need my coffee in the morning as well and usually drink a couple 20 ounce cups. Not sure if this will suit my needs, but I'm going to check out the double. As usual, Great video!
Hi... i notice that you don't have /shop/fortytimesaround on amazon page UK.... s there some reason whuy its not there.... p.s. greath videos, tips, reviews on your RU-vid page... love it... safe journey to you....
Hey Tim, I am taking your advice to make as much extra money as possible before taking a trip. I deliver pizza part time and I have taken any extra shifts as possible. I am off today but they needed help so I am going in just to make some extra money. My first big trip means a lot to me. You my friend are making an impact. Thank you. Going to your Pay pal.
@@FTAAdventures Tim Thank you for your encouragement. I set out to the west coast from Georgia last week of March. So excited. Really happy to have you in my corner.
Alan, it is complicated and it's a project, for me I like it because it gives me something to occupy myself around camp in the morning. Not always though, sometimes I am in a rush to get on the road. Thanks for the comment Alan!
That's pretty cool... but I'm not sure why they picked bright orange... I dont know why but the color just seems odd for a coffee press. Great video and review though Tim.
I've been doing a lot of coffee videos lately, comparing instants while out on the trail, and now I'm going to be comparing a few different options for brewing. I just ordered the Nanopress and am really looking forward to giving this a go! I looked but couldn't find your video where you did a comparison on instants, can you point me to it?
I think I took that video down, sometimes I filter out some of the older ones that I'm not super excited about. Bustello makes good instant and Stsrbucks via is also strong and tasty.
LOL I'm the guy that goes into those fancy coffee stores and confuses them and orders a RBC, Regular Black Coffee. As much as I find this product interesting to watch, I'm of the heat water and instant coffee and go type, although I do sometimes bring a can of flavored along. needless to say I'm no expert or connoisseur (and I had to look that up lol)
Nothing wrong with an RBC! I like convenience too, and I do use instant sometimes. This is a fun treat once in a while though (although I have been using it everyday at home since I got it). Ride safe!
@@FTAAdventures I do live it up once in awhile, I'll get the French Vanilla or Mocha Latte at the gas station and sometimes I go wild I'll put a bit of Mocha Latte in the cup with my regular coffee. And I just came out of the gas station with that combo. LOL You know If someone likes a certain thing to take camping with them, who is it really bothering? I must be getting old, I think I'm getting to that stage I think I have the answers but no one is asking the questions. The truth is I would probably bring a coffee maker with me camping if I had the room and a way to power it, but I got so much stuff with me now as it is, although I see online there are coffee makers powered by power tool batteries and even one powered by a propane gas cannister.
Quality Coffee for a motorbike trip? .. Vietnamese traditional coffee hand press method, really much better than espresso (for my point of view), i think you can feel better the flavor of the coffee grains. Also it packs more caffeine (if you choose the right one) and the double filter will cost you around 1 dollar in Vietnam... maybe 5 in US??. Thinks to know about this method, is that 1 to 2 drops per second max is the right way to go, and yes, it takes some time to have it done, lets say.. 5 to 8 minutes for a small cup... also flavor constancy takes a lot of practice. The most important is to wash the filter properly after use,(hot hot water or dishwasher soap required. otherwise the filter holes will get stuck with the oils of the coffee and will not pass well the next time... Get one filter, and some Trung Nguyen premium blend (to start with something over average) and if you feel that you want more complexity go to the Legendee/sang tao/N8 and enjoy a very complex and strong as hell coffee ( too much for my nerves, two shots will bring my body to an uncomfortable oscillating blood pressure). remember that is Robusta coffee grain, meaning it has always a bitter flavor, but prepared in a good way, will finish with a pleasant sweet flavor at your throat. prepared with too much water, and it will be just bitter, to little water or cold, and it will be thick and not with the right texture, better watch some videos and research about it. Enjoy :)
hi Tim, great little gadget, but unfortunately as an Englishman, im a tea drinker.and I have to take tea bags. great vid again. ps. surprised you bought it as you are keen on colour coding with. lime green and grey..lol
Hi dan james! I enjoy tea as well, but I do love my coffee. LOL I know, everything is green and grey but I am using orange for my kitchen setup, matches my cooking pot haha.
ah yes I forgot about that. that x pot from sea to su@@FTAAdventuresemit is pretty good stuff. I use mine even for the occasional day trip. especial the folding kettle
Good video as usual but that thing looks like a lot to deal with, instant coffee or instant espresso has to be way easier, all I have to do is get the right amount of water/coffee mix right for flavor.
You won't get much of cream layer from bialetti type coffee makers as it is low pressure, however it is good to know that you will get much more coffeine from low pressure CM than from typical high pressure CM like in coffee shops. I would consider nanopresso somewhere in between. also fun fact, the espresso made with high pressure CM has the least content of caffeine out of most of possible ways to make an aspresso:)
Jetboil, it's so much faster and easier. I've been using the same one now for about 10 yrs. All I ever use it for is boiling water, so it never gets dirty EVER.
I am looking at Jetboils too, I would want the pan adapter with it though, so I have the option to fry and cook other things too. Good to see you have had luck with one for extended period of time, that is very good to know.
I just bought nanopresso....but why we got pounch rather than this hard case....my friend just bought the minipresso.....also no hard case and sticker.....?..maybe only USA with that hard case
That so many languages are included in the "instructions" makes the point the world doesn't turn on petroleum...……. nah... it's all about caffeine. At home I make my two morning daily lattes as I love really good coffee too. Would encourage all to check out "Cowboy Kent Rollins" vid on making "cowboy coffee". Good stuff, simple especially in a campfire setting. It's not expresso or a latte, but bold and a good morning kick start which every motorcycle camping enthusiast can appreciate.
I'm old school working class English so I just use boiled water over instant coffee and add milk & sugar, whala, my perfect brew; I know I know, I'm destroying what any coffee connoisseur would regard as decent/good coffee - but hey, then again you guys over the pond tend to destroy the English Language and get away with it!! lol :) I will admit I'm not so neolithic that I don't appreciate a good coffee at a specialised retailer like Costa now and again. Great vlog yet again Tim, thanx for the heads-up.
Hi Tim, I have been watching your videos for a while now (about 1 year), and with all due respect, it feels like your channel is slowly but surely turning into a shopping channel... No offense, if you can make money with it, more power to you, just sharing my very humble and respectful POV, maybe just make a few more riding videos, just saying. Cheers!
Pump is incredibly sturdy, the whole thing is very well put together. I don't see replacement parts, but they do have a warranty so I am sure you can get it fixed if it breaks. I don't see anything that looks like a weak point on it.
Hey Tim, what a painful path for a tiny cup of expresso! Let`s stick to the old fashion way, just boil some water + instant tablespoon of coffee and done deal!
I do like a good coffee but that’s a lot of faffing around just to get a single shot. Would rather grind and use a filter which would be a lot quicker.. Great vid though 😀
