So, today we are out and about walking in the cathedral city of Gloucester, which is located in the county of Gloucestershire, England. Gloucester is situated on the River Severn and lies between the Cotswolds and the Forest of Dean. Gloucester is also a port which is linked to the Severn Estuary via the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal. Gloucester's population stands at around 132,000 (2021).
Gloucester is richly steeped in history which dates back as far as the Roman era. Gloucester cathedral is a major attraction for the city. King Edward II is buried there as well as Walter de Lacy.
Surprisingly this is our first visit to Gloucester, we will be walking some more in the city over the coming months and exploring more indepth.
There is just one hidden OAAW logo in this video, see if you can spot the walker.
The audio is not the best on this video on this video as unknown to me, the audio recorder had defaulted to Auto-level, which means the audio sounds like it is going up & down at times, it's not terrible but most definitely not a method I would usually use. Also, it might be worth mentioning that I currently have a bad cold, hence sniffles can occasionally be heard.

Gloucester! Oh you! The Christmas fun of window display gazing. What a treat! You are SO KIND! Perfect weather, wet and windy! Gratitude for the Cathedral details, she's impressive indeed! DING DONG so is her voice! And dripping icicle lights, must get some! (80' worth, of blues, can you see me porch?) First of those I ever saw were draping several tulip trees at our local public garden during Christmas aways back. I was awestruck. Now to see them again. 😳. Thanks, Sir🕶️, for the Gloucester glimpse, she's quite different from Cheltenham. And no worries of audio issues, I couldn't tell, to me it sounded like the rise and fall of wind (you must admit there is a nagging perfectionist inside ya. Me I prefer the 🧬crooked smiles, one ear higher than the other....) Here, some ☘️💉💊🩹💖 for your 🤧, so you can show us more Gloucester and Cotswold. Merry🎄and🥂!

Considering Cheltenham and Gloucester are only 10 miles apart they couldn't be more different from each other, both have their own unique identities (in a nice way of course). Have you looked online at any of the pictures taken inside the cathedral? It is incredible! Have I seen your porch? Nope, but I can definitely visualise it tho, and yes maybe you could get some draping icicles to finish dressing it for Christmas 🎄😉 (icy blue ones). Thanks for walking with me today. A shiny and wet morning walk. Liked the overhead Christmas lights, and how well lit up was the Eastgate Shopping Centre. Hmm 😒 a certain logo on the pedestrian overpass. Nice walk!! Enjoyed the Beatrix Potter window shopping. 🙂 Have been to her Hilltop home in the Lake District. Nice to see the Nativity scene lights. Almost needed to put on a cardigan watching this walk with the wind blowing and wet streets. 😀 Thank you for this.

This is a wonderful video. Absolutely stunning. Much as I love nature views, the sight of streets, still wet from the rain, reflecting the streetlights and the gleaming shop windows. Absolutely marvellous. The thing is, and I think this is true, cities never get dull. They can be pleasant or unpleasant, ugly or beautiful but there is a magic in them, especially when you film at that strange time of the morning where those streets are deserted. I know that the views of Cotswold villages will always be the bread and butter of the channel but it is so nice to have this variety. Thanks for this. And a special thank you for making a video when you have a cold. This is dedication.

I'm sorry to hear you have a bad cold, though selfishly I'm loving the blustery wind in the first alley you went into, OAAW. And the Beatrix Potter store! You know, personally, books like the tales of Peter Rabbit and other English children's books draw it's readers to visit places like the Cotswolds and the English countryside. In my opinion, they do more for to drive tourism than any other advertisement could. Gloucester is an interesting place..home of Robert Raikes (of Sunday School fame), John Stafford Smith (composer of the Star Spangled Banner), George Whitefield (preacher and abolitionist), and Frank Whittle (who was the subject of a documentary on the jet engine just recently). I can't wait to see more of Gloucester. Thanks for taking us on your walk, OAAW. I hope you get to feeling beter and have a great week ahead!

Ah, thank you Michael. I have had this cold for nearly two weeks, just can’t seem to shake it off. Apparently there is a ‘Super cold’ going around here in the Shire which can last for up to four weeks. Anyway, I am pleased you enjoyed this impromptu visit to Gloucester, it really was a spur of the moment decision. I do agree, because when I think of the tales of Peter Rabbit it does conjure up thoughts of scenes here in the Cotswolds. Also, similarly Gloucester has some very gothic architecture which gives me Harry Potter vibes. I am hoping to launch a new channel on the 1st Jan (already given you a teaser a while ago in a previous comment ;) which is a spin off from this channel and has the familiar branding colours that you are probably used to by now. Remember the ‘RV’ channel, well I ended up scrapping it as it was a non-starter! Michael, I hope you are all well. Thank you so very much for your kind contribution, which was timed perfectly btw! A very nice walk in Gloucester, in the rain. This city seems very interesting to me and worth discovering. Lots of nice stores and nice decorations. The cathedral is splendid. A very beautiful tree to finish but made ugly by the advertisements at the base; Shame. But I prefer Cheltenham!!. thank you Friend OAAW for this beautiful walk 😀😀😀😀😀

Though I never tire of the countryside walks, this was an interesting change, for you to do the Christmas light walk through the town. When I saw the Beatrix Potter store, I was wishing that I could be there and go inside to shop, as those books and the animal characters from them are truly enchanting! Thank you for allowing us to at least peek through the window at the charming display! (I spotted Peter Rabbit, and Mrs. Tiggywinkle! :). It was interesting to view the various buildings and shops, and to see the festive decorations/lights that had been put up to commemorate the holiday season. You were very dedicated to traipse around in the wet weather and wind to make this video while fighting a head cold! Hopefully by the time this got posted and viewed by others you were starting to feel some better. Thanks for the nice walk.

Although the main focus of this channel is the Cotswold villages, it is good to mix things up now and again as it could all become a bit too predictable perhaps. @@OutandaboutWalking As my dad was in England during the WWII years and saw many towns and villages (though probably not necessarily in the Cotswold area; I believe that Coggeshall was the area that he was stationed in for the duration of his service there), I do enjoy seeing the town scenes occasionally, too….feel as if I am walking in his footsteps, and viewing similar things to what he saw so long ago (things that were, of course, later related to me in his stories). If he were alive today, I would definitely be sharing the OAAW channel with him. : ) I hope you feel better soon. (I find that supplements with zinc, vitamin C and other good vitamins do tend to shorten bothersome colds when they inevitably appear).
