English subtitles are available. I bought a box containing materials from World War Two that surprised me. This is a dedication to a man whom I never met.
It boggles my mind as well 😢 Good on you for honouring this gentleman's wartime legacy. These irreplaceable mementos are clearly safe in your hands my friend 🇵🇱❤
You're welcome. Throwing away a piece of family history only deprives future generations their history. I done a decent thing. A man doing God's work during a war can't be all that bad. I done something that his family should be doing.
Absolutely beautiful video. Your kindness knows no limitations. To do this for someone you never met, to preserve his past and who he was, is such a respectful and beautiful gesture. God bless you my friend.
Thank you for your kind words. When I discovered that this is not World War Two memorabilia, I had to pay respect to this man. His family didn't so a stranger had to do it.
qdc, how good of you to buy this box! What an amazing piece of history and what an awesome story. Thank you for posting this video. Love the tribute you made to this person too. Thank you for being an inspiration! I always look forward to your videos. Take care and happy modeling.
Thank you for watching my video. Throwing away a piece of family history only deprives future generations their history. I just done a decent thing. A man doing God's work during a war can't be all that bad. I done something that his family should be doing. That's all.
@@qdc748a I completely agree. I couldn't imagine throwing away my Granddad's WW2 things. They mean too much to me as he died when I was very young. How I wish I could ask him questions instead of asking questions about him, talk to him instead of talking about him, learn from him instead of learning about him. What you did was absolutely the right thing and it shows that you are a fantastic human being. Proud to call you my RU-vid friend.
There's nothing I can say, that other people haven't already said in other comments... so all I'm going to say is that I'm proud to be your friend. This is a very special thing to do... and I love the title of the video. . :)
Greetings from Oxford UK.....How wonderful of you to share this wonderful life with us. As a young child I remember spending time chatting to my school janitor who had come to the UK during the war years. He would tell us boys of his experience in fighting in Europe and I always felt a sense of sorry that he was not able (like so many brave Polish people) to return to a their homeland at wars' end. Ingat and salamat po for sharing
Absolutely great video, you be proud of what you did. I basely did that with my only brother that was K.I.A. during WWII. He was a whole generation older. Dad never talked about, I did have little information, and from that I was able to fine a lot about him.
For me, as I'm from Poland and I'm watching your videos for a while, this is a truly interesting treasure. It tells a story very similar to many others. This man, a catholic priest, possibly was also a priest in pre war polish army, cause a lot of our troops managed to flee the country, after the defeat in September 1939, thru the Romania or Hungary to France and then to UK. Later in war he had to be in Second Polish Corp, because the date in one of his English translations matches with the time when the Corp was moved to Palestine. The rest o the story which you told is accurate and highly probable. However, I would like to point out, just to be clear, that after the war Poland was not a part of USSR. In theory we were independent, but of course under huge influence and a supervision of soviets and with communist government. All in all, it's good that you have those things, cause they are in good hands ^^
Wow. I want to thank you for verifying what I thought are mostly true. I didn't know that Poland wasn't part of the USSR after the war. All this information saddens me a little. I'm sad because his family and relatives didn't want these treasures. He kept all these treasures for a good reason. I'm sure he wanted his treasures to be passed on to other family members. If was alive today, I'm sure he wouldn't want these items sold at a yard sale in a museum. Thank you again for this valuable information. Take care. 😊😊
A very interesting video. Indeed as you mentioned these textbooks refer to chemistry. As a viewer from Poland i'd love to thank you for paying tribute to my countryman. Cheers!
A beautiful story about a phase in the life of a man who gave himself to a war. Shame on those who delivered their memories in a cardboard box. His attitude in preserving this legacy to the world is very touching. Allow me to thank you for this tribute to someone also unknown to me, but who you brought very close to our hearts.
Great Story! I wonder if the poor guy had PTSD? undiagnosed at that time and being to Polish Proud to ask for help. Just a thought. Hey QDC nice change up caught me by surprise! Loved it.
He may. In anyone's viewpoint, throwing away a piece of family history only deprives future generations. Without knowing the past, living in the present and future is less fulfilling. Anyway, thanks for watching. I honestly appreciate it. 😀😀
One of your most impressive videos! My father served in the Royal Air Force for twenty two years. He didn't do anything bad ( as far as I know!) but when he died last year, my sister proceeded to dispose of all his memorabilia, paper work and the manuscript of the biography he was writing without consulting any other members of the family. Sad. I am not sure I would necessarily agree with your theory regarding the gentleman in your box of delights; some people just don't get it.
Throwing away family history just because you don't care. That's sad indeed. What a terrible reason to throw family history away! I hope this is not true with this family.
Great display. Too bad families don't want things like this for future generations - especially when it displays so nicely. Sad really, so thanks for what you did!
You're welcome. In anyone's viewpoint, throwing away a piece of family history only deprives future generations their history. Thanks for watching. I appreciate it..
One more thing, I understand your thought about maybe he did something bad but from what I've experienced with the way so many people are today they simply could care less about the past or preserving any of it. They are only concerned with their own concerns and little or nothing else.
That's so sad! Throwing away family history just because you don't care. If you don't know your past, how can you go into the future? What a terrible reason to throw family history away! I hope this is not true with this family.
That shadow box was a fitting tribute to an Allied hero, Q. The fact that this man was honored with a medal from the Battle of Monte Casino is a true testament to his courage, dedication and commitment to the cause in such an important moment in World War II history. Remember, as a Chaplin he was in the heat of Hell on Earth action and would have been UNARMED, remarkable! I’m actually glad that the box found its way into your possession. You’re the right guy to be the caretaker of his fascinating personal mementos and important story and you showed the respect he deserves. Well done son.
Thank you for your kind words. I just done the right thing. I think many people would do the same thing if they were in my shoes. Maybe one day these will go back to his great grandchildren. Thank you again.
Excellent video! I admire you for your dedication in creating the display. Not sure about your theory of him doing something 'horrible' though... I've helped a number of people move or clean out houses and the sorts of things they abandon can be startling. Maybe he went on to do even greater things and these were the least of his memories... and his family kept the best of it?
I don't know. These object were very important to him because he framed them and medals spoke a lot about him during the war. He kept them for a very good reason. I doubt he wanted these family heirlooms sold at a yard sale.
Such a shame that one mans treasured possessions are seen as disposable by some , great news that there are people like you to save them and memorialise his story .
After seeing the chaplain's badge, the printed painting of St. Francis of Assisi-Mother Mary-Mother Mary with Jesus-St. Anthony of Padua, the great possibility that the stuff you bought in the yard sale was from a catholic priest chaplain and he didn't have a family (wife or kids). Could be his congregation friends who sold his stuff after he passed away.
well me hope you can find a good home fore em a nuther musem or arcive frome that unit may be the cards are a butch of saint cards seen some like that at my grndmas bak when ajnd siied the box whas not filed with ca lol we all know how cats like boxes see nest vid as post bit of rush nest time
