That was DEEP, deserves way more views. Huge litmus test here when the busted system will try to turn this into RU-vid KIDS. The scenes showing children is going to be the issue. The bot will see children and no matter what you say in relation to the video being made for 'adult' fans the AI will win. I'm noticing the system is becoming stricter over time. Dude, Thomas Wooden Railway was the first toy brand of Thomas that I ever had. Hell, I still remember the first train set that I got from that brand, which was the Water Tower figure 8 set that was released in 2004 and discontinued in 2010.

My childhood. I grew up with this train store nearby, mostly model train hobbist stuff but they had a whole section filled with Tomas wooden railway sets. I had alot of these including that bee covered james and the golden tomas you showed off. I didnt know any of the later stuff, i stopped playing with em when I got pokemon diamond other DS games. but this is a huge nostalgia trip.

I really like your editing, not only do you find all sorts of TWR images and footage, but you also throw in little blink-and-you-miss-it jokes like the illustration from Thomas Goes Fishing when you hiss. And, you are the first RU-vidr (besides like, idk, Vsauce) I've ever seen to put all your sources in the description !!! Truly, a groundbreaking innovation.

I played the shit out of wooden railway as a kid. I still have most of mine. It brings a smile to my face when remembering good times with them…

Awesome little documentary! I really appreciate hearing about the history the the TWR and it makes me very nostalgic. I just came across this video while I was trying to find a similar video about the history of the Brio wooden trains which aren't available yet. Thank you for making the Thomas one however!

Out of all the Thomas and Friends toy lines Thomas Wooden Railway is my favorite. It's a treat to watch videos talking the history of this beloved toy line. And even though it went off the rails (heh) in 2018, it's making a comeback.

This was a fun history video. Since Thomas Wooden Railway is turning 30 years old at the end of the year and with the release of Wooden Railway 2, maybe I’ll also do a history video on it soon.

Love most of the Thomas and friends wooden railway trains, rolling stock (coaches and cars), other vehicles and cranes up to Frieda, Gina, Vinnie, Ashima, Yong Bao (fully coloured wood train) and Hugo (including a take n play Rex, an ertl jock and mail van and another diesel 199 in for Bear) (while I also mainly just like the 2004 Thomas with the stripes, the 2002 Edward, Henry, Gordon, James and Percy with the stripes, the 2002 Donald and Douglas with plastic coal, the 2002 Bertie with the magnet, the 2003 Terence and Lady, the 2005 Diesel, the 2006 Oliver and the 2008 Peter Sam with of course the special funnel and the rest of them that became wooden trains are fine either way before their computerized redesigns), followed by the destinations: deluxe roundhouse and turntable, Boulder mountain, Sodor bay bridge, arch viaduct, elevated track foundation and ascending risers, the super cruiser (Stephano) and rolling gantry crane.

Gonna be honest, growing up, I never had the wooden set growing up, I only had the metal die-cast magnetic trains, and the battery operated mechanic ones. I was never as close to the wooden ones because all of my attachment was to the two types that I grew up with

I had alot of the ERTL Die Casts but for some reason the only Wooden Railway toy I owned was Neil (Who only appeared in the RWS)

Wooden trains in general are the best toy to ever exist.

Woody railway was best and it was my childhood they added some railway series characters and most of them are rare

I hope to one day have kids of my own but knowing how bad some kids entertainment is (I’m shocked, but not surprised, that my niece RELIES on Peppa Pig!), I feel I need to be REALLY careful what toys, books, movies, TV shows and games I give them. I urged my parents and brother to, if they want to get my niece/their granddaughter/his daughter into Thomas, they need to show her the classic series and stay away from All Engines Go, they were rather ignorant and thought AEG (which I don’t know if my niece has seen as of yet) was “Thomas for today’s kids”, ignorant that even today’s kids would love classic Thomas as much as we do/did! My Mom actually asked me if I “actually watched” AEG, and I told her I saw the initial trailer and storyboards for 2 episodes, and HATED what I saw! You can’t just assume kids today would watch anything! One of my favorite cartoons, at least from recent years, is Bluey, and although my niece lost interest initially, I’m glad she got into it eventually! Despite my position that kids deserve better than Peppa Pig, Cocomelon et al, my Mom told me, a few hours after my niece was born almost 2 years ago, that if I were to have kids of my own, I would not be able to raise them in a “1980s bubble”!
