Oh, I should have mentioned how Miles' costume colors are kinda funny for this game specifically, because it's like, Oh no! Peter has been taken over by the evil black costume, now the only guy who can save him is the dude wearing a... primarily black costume😐
@@DoritoGOD2811 I think context is key here. Spider-Man has primarily worn red and blue in this continuity (as well as most others). So Peter switching to black suit signifies a change in character so to speak. Miles has been Spider-Man since Peter took a vacation in the last game, so I’d assume New York would be used to seeing him by now. TL;DR They’d know it’s not the colors that make Spider-Man good or not.
@@GlennOrSomething It’s not a literal thing Mr Dorito is complaining about, anyone with more than 2 brain cells can put together that Miles is a good guy, actually. But stories have themes and symbolism and shit, they are the super secret ingredient that makes good stories great. So thematically, the Black Suit is evil, it’s corruption, it’s the darkness within us all. Peter goes from a bright costume, to an all black one, before finally getting an all white one when he finishes his arc (not that he *has* much of a arc in this game). So black = the ultimate bad, and white/colour = the ultimate good in this story. So it’s kind of weird that Miles has a mostly black costume. You could argue that he has the Mr Negative revenge thing going on, if memory serves he gets his new costume *after* forging him. But Miles is still wearing his black costume, he is still following the darkness or whatever when he helps peter overcome his darkness. Really, he should have gotten his evolved suit, his white costume, during his battle with peter, since thats *his* final fight, thats when he should have overcome his darkness.
It's been confirmed the suit was designed independently of the Adidas sponsorship, the only role they played was the shoes, just like in MM where they added Adidas shoes to the Sportswear and Gift Suits.
the fact that the white Mysterio suit gets a blue set of wings makes it even more perplexing that the blue Brooklyn 99 suit keeps the red color. Still my favorite Miles suit in the game, I just try not to glide when it's equipped.
You know what I realized. There was a very easy opportunity for an explanation for the suit change at the end of the game, yet they didn't utilize it for some reason. When Peter shows up at the Mansion to save Miles from capture, we see Miles' suit is damaged. Later on in the game, his suit is miraculously fixed. That moment could have been the perfect excuse to have him get a new suit. They could have made it so Miles says that he's wearing an unfinished prototype of a suit he was making, and the damage to his main suit kinda left him with no choice but to have to switch to that suit.
@TheCursedCat1927 they didn't, the anti venom suit has a scripted suit damage scene during the venom fight and so does the evolved suit and I think during the Li fight it does too
fr though, i quite like the end and strike is a horrific mess and yet here we are, that's the power of different opinions. i'm never gonna watch the spider-man 1 video because i know i'm the only person on the planet who likes the velocity suit
i do like the kamen rider deluxe edition one though like he does, but yeah i like the brooklyn 2099 one probably the most out of miles' suits especially the default colour
For what you said about the red and black not working for Miles, your explamples were Kaine and Superior. I see it as the red and black being a way to say "I'm not Peter Parker"
I get that tbh. Personally for me the black and red feels more fitting for characters that have a bit of a more violent edge to them whereas Miles is a very lighthearted character mostly.
@@DoritoGOD2811I think red and black definitely works well for violent characters, but on the flip side, I think it represents Miles’s rebellion really well (at least in the spider-verse movies) Painting over a suit in black, blacking out the expectations he set for himself by looking at Peter’s suit, and using his red to declare himself as his own unique Spider-Man. (but also yes, red did not work for nightwing)
I feel like Miles hair style isn’t even the problem with the suit. Even though that style is overused i think it’s more so the cut of the mask making it awkward. Usually when a hero has there hair exposed like this their forehead is exposed and also their mouth is too. With miles trying to his his identity nothing should be shown to reveal his identity. But they really wanted his hair exposed when really his hair shouldn’t be exposed at all. I think to help this situation they could’ve given him a sweat band as it would’ve on brand. It would be a nice substitute for a forehead but also would be on brand although a little on the nose. Then it would’ve made him not look like an egg with hair. Also just no one else should have the kilmonger style. There are so many styles for locs. I think something like braided down locs would fit miles great. I think the best solution would’ve been to give him some sort substitute for hair. His hair isn’t long enough yet to for that sort of mask.Maybe instead of the smooth usual mask the spider man variants typically have he could’ve had something with more detail. I’m blanking on ideas but something that imitates hair like hobie’s Mohawk spikes. Something like electrical webs that look like locs or something.
For your hair substitute idea, I think a headband with a raised knot would help add some depth and flow to his head. Something like a hachigane armor piece would conform to the head but also draw attention to it
I love the fact that Miles decided that an Alien Pandemic was the perfect time to make a new suit Next thing you know, there's probably gonna be a goblin pandemic in Marvel's Spider-Man 3, he's gonna make a new Suit
I have to disagree about the original suit not fitting Miles. I think the black and red is something, that as the black kid I used to be, saw as cool. Nothing was cooler than black and red growing up, even as a nerd I still have the urban upbringing that embraced those types of colors. It didn't feel "dark/edgy" necessarily; just cool. Idk how to put it but that's how I saw it
hate to be that guy man, but i don’t think you have to be black or urban to like the costume, i think this guy just got a bad opinion. i love that shii and im a rural ass white kid 🤣
I'm doing work RN and the motivation is really fading, your video appearing in my subscription feed is just everything I need. Nothing like people analysing fictional character's overly tight clothes just works for me
3:08 Personally, the black and red doesn’t seem super edgy with Miles. To me, black doesn’t always mean edgy. While Batman is dark and brooding, he still has compassion and is capable of comforting a child. And then look at Wolverine. He’s a character designed to skewer his enemies and is one of the most iconic aggressive characters made… and he’s in bright yellow and blue (not bashing on the design, I love the yellow and blue). It’s a fine line in costume design and how it works with characterization. There’s plenty of other examples out there, but these felt like the big ones. So Miles’s black and red just doesn’t feel edgy, especially with (as you said) the big friendly eyes. And it’s more made to stand apart from Peter’s like how 2099 flipped the colour scheme around to make it so uniquely not Peter. (Side note: I like the subtle zipper on the classic suits shoes, it still flows with the rest of the design and makes it look like it’s a shoe he can easily slip on as opposed to the soles of the costume boots being worn under his regular shoes) 21:07 I really wish we got a suit slot for the suit he wears underneath the sweater for the bodega cat suit. I’ve been a fan of this suit mainly because of the lenses. I love how massive and angular they are and I love how they look with the shutter effect. 23:17 A little unrelated, but this suit also feels like a factor for how MCU Peter takes a lot of cues from Miles. His homemade suit has the same kind of structure as this one. And looking at the concept art of Peter’s homemade suits, I really wish we got one of the ones that had the webbing and more of the classic structure. Because then Tony Stark is the one that creates most of the iconic classic structure that’s carried over to the other suits. It becomes less of Peter’s creation and more of Peter remixing someone else’s work. And while I’m not a fan of the trope of regular clothes that happen to have a slight nod to a comic costume colour scheme being a characters costume, I love the concept of these scrappy homemade suits. It’s fun seeing the evolution of the character through costumes and how they had to make do with this first draft of a costume. Someone who’s never made a costume with spandex before won’t know what to do, so they just slap together what they have on hand while they practice and put together a more refined suit. 24:42 I definitely share the same opinion with how weird it is to see a cartoon costume next to realistic models. Especially when the mask is off. 39:19 Honestly, if they kept this structure of the suit (seam lines and simpler design), and swapped in the classic red design, then it would have been the perfect classic Miles suit to stand next to Peter’s classic suit 42:00 I swear I remember a suit just like this in Spider-man Edge of Time. I think it was one of Miguel’s alternate suits And as a side note, I really wish all the Symbiote designs (for Miles and Peter) had a toggle to turn off the goopy effect. While I dig the goop and organic nature they were going for, I also wish we could see how these suits look without it, especially since the Symbiote can perfectly replicate fabric, so making a costume that doesn’t look like it’s made of living tar shouldn’t be impossible. Especially seeing the concept art of the black suit and Symbiote surge suit
For the Edge of Time suit, you're probably thinking of the "New Spider Armor" suit. Otherwise known as the Bulletproof suit, which the 2018 game had as the Spider Armor MK2.
Something I thought you might find interesting is that Peter's Arachnid Rider Suit and Miles' S.T.R.I.K.E Suit were both designed by the same guy, Dave Rapoza. Both suits are also based on the suits that Kamen Rider 1 and Kamen Rider 2 wore in the 2005 movie Kamen Rider the First and its sequel Kamen Rider the Next, which were remakes of the original Kamen Rider show. I remember in your video going over Peter's first game suits you said you didn't like that the Arachnid Rider suit was cel-shaded since Kamen Rider is live-action but there is a possible reason for that; on his Twitter page, Dave Rapoza mentioned that the suit was also based on the Guyver and Evangelion anime series which is probably what led to it being cel-shaded. I doubt that'll change your opinion on the cel-shading but I do think it's good to know why it's like that. Also sorry to sound like stereotypical nerd but it's pronounced KAH-men Rider, not KAY-men Rider.
I’ve never been so hype for a video in so long… I haven’t felt this feeling since the early days of RU-vid 😂. Keep posting more content like this for me to binge watch too
I like the idea of Miles(s) shoes for his classic suit being water shoes. Gives a good explanation as to how he can wear his own shoes underneath his suit. Don’t know that zippers there though.
Regarding the Red Spectre suit, I can have a fun time with it if I pair it with the punk apocalypse suit for Pete. But for me to use those suits, I need to make it head Canon that they're elseworld Spidermen.
I actually liked the Absolute Carnage suit, specifically the Anti-Venom colors. Yeah though, the tendrils should have moved. That would have made it a 8.5 / 10 for me.
Well, you're in luck, cause Insomniac is finally releasing that KidSuper suits collab next week on the 18th, with some fan favorites returning as well, including the Into the Spider-Verse and Last Stand suits for Peter, and the Animated and Uptown Pride suits (aka the yellow Miles suit) for Miles respectively.
I wish we had gotten Falcon Miles from Heroes Reborn 2021 as well as an evil blue and red version from a Spider-Verse story who comes from an Earth where Aunt May becomes Carnage.
The Uptown Pride suit was a good suit but it has a controversal origin. The Uptown Pride suit was created in support of the Black Lives Matter movement since the Miles Morales game released around that time. However, many people did not wear the suit due to that fact. As a result, Insomniac probably didn't want to bring it back since they did not want to take a political stance
Insomniac didn't want to take a political stance? About BLM? What's so especially political about this that Insomniac would omit this exact costume from the game?
ignoring the fact that BLM is a civil rights movement, not a political stance, i think the decreased role of the cops in this game makes their stance pretty clear. some people not wearing a suit doesn't really matter.
I’m honestly relieved I’m not the only one who prefers the uptown pride skin for Miles. For some reason Yellow or even Blue fits Miles better, maybe because of his bio electric powers?
Honestly. No one has nearly as much of a problem with Red Spectre (I like both) although I feel they'd be better with no hair showing but that's just me.
Hot take, but the Evolved suit is actually one of my favorites in the game for miles. The only thing I dislike is the hair sticking out of the mask, if they fix that it’s a solid new design that the character really needed in my opinion
I think Miles’ suit being black and red was well explained in Spider Verse. Most black people’s favorite color duo is black and red, so it would make sense why Spider Verse Miles would spray paint the classic suit in those colors. Plus they match his Jordan’s. While yeah it looks a tad bit edgy, it’s worn for the unadulterated swagger of a black teen.
I'm curious that no one who's reviewed Miles' suits have mentioned that the Bodega Cat suit has much bigger eyes than most of the other ones. I love the big eyes, cat model is so creepy it knocks it down a few points for me
I feel miles’ suit works a lot better nowadays like u said he needs his own color palette and I think black and neon pink/purple works a lot better than black and red
I think another reason for miles' black suit design comes from the fact that black fits better w/ his skin-tone (doesn't make sense from a meta perspective, but when everyone acknowledges him as black, designs probably did the same, even in this game they did the same, given that token black hair style they gave him). It's probably one of the few colors that goes well w/ both a spider aesthetic and black skin. There are obviously other colors out there, but black is easy to work w/ and make cool
Personally the absolute carnage suits is one of my personal favorites to combo with Peter’s symbiote suit. I like the base Peter symbiote suit with the carnage color absolute carnage suit. I think it looks incredible. And orange venom powers, of course. I think it looks great. But that’s just my thoughts on it.
Now, I have found you saying stuff I don't quite agree with when it comes to some of the costumes, I found them ultimately fine, but you have now revealed that you are inhuman with sub-brick intelligence! The 10th anniversary suit is awesome, and the pink one is the best version!
What’s funny is he made a 50 minute video explaining why HE didn’t like the suits. You said 1 sentence about two suits saying nothing about them but “they look good I thinks” so you really shouldn’t be saying he has no intelligence. Edit: my bad you wrote 1 sentence about 1 suit.
@amusedapple4933 (A) I wasn't trying to get into a debate/ didn't care to really explain (B) I'm being really unserious about this. I do believe what I said about the suit, but I'm being a little over the top, literally calling him "inhuman" as more of joke to be like HEY you don't share my opinion you a dumbie (C) Nuh uh
to each their own, and i appreciate the video, but being so intensely and steadfastly against anything that looks home-made or streetwear or thrown together is kind of antithetical to liking spider man. that's part of both guy's character. both miles and peter are defined in large part by being regular people. they aren't funded by the govt like captain america, they arent billionaires like iron man, they arent part of some larger team like the fantastic 4. both these characters are supposed to be making due with the bare minimum, with what they have on-hand. looking cool or sleek or well equipped is supposed to come second to just covering the basics (yes, miles and peter are partners, but peter's a guys who canonically struggles to make rent, so it's not like he can fund some wacky shit). it's intrinsically tied to story themes and characterization that both of these guys would be using hoodies or t shirts or whatever instead of some unknown, space-age, carbon fiber rubber that you see on ridiculous suits like the STRIKE suit or 2099.
41:35 this suit reminds me of that meme with that animation when one guy has a big booty and three other guys follows him and the song called ballin' plays.
Putting a finger over the hair of the final suit and Ironically the shoes that are the main point of the skin makes it look 100 times better imo. If they had just got rid of the hair window, put the hood up and add spandex covering his feet with that little sole pad they have on various other suits it would improve the suit by "miles"(dont shoot me) obviously because its advertising they couldnt but id argue the advertising was a bad idea in general and should have never been a topic for discussion
All the characters in these games feel lacking in personality. They tried to make them more realistic and that means more generic visuals and writing for some reason Also the sporty looks like the 2099 costume, the red spectre, and of course his adidas suit feel too much like he’s just going to play soccer or go jogging. It feels less “super” imo
For the section where you talk about Miles "Iconic suit", I've always had a theory that miles would be a character in the avengers game, and peter parker was advertised as exclusive to sony. But the game never got off the ground enough to get that plan out.
This entire game when I played it, especially compared to old spidey games, is super on rails and holding your hand instead of letting you just be Spider-Man it sucks
personally i like to think the red and black as a choice of miles going “this looks hella cool” rather than me trying to look into it in depth, just seems like his forte yk
17:48 I think this is my favorite costume for miles. That and the Brooklyn uptown pride suit from the first game (which was butchered in this one). I kinda like miles with a gold and black suit instead of red and black. Makes him stand out more IMO.
Imo when it comes to exposed hair it should either be accompanied by a hood or it should be a half mask so it dosen't look so weird. It kinda makes his mask look like foreskin when the hair comes out all the way at the very top
This guy just slaps facts every time. With the new final mission adidas suit. I think he's really really spot on. this color scheme is actually great but it sucks because why is there hair plus miles is definitely a nike guy
Nahh Miles has blatant just tennis shoes incorporated into his costume, his hair is exposed which (outside of hollywood) is a pretty unique hairstyle so ANYONE would be able to pick him out, I like the other color variant that doesnt have the blue
Since you liked Tokusatsu, I think you should check out the Kamen Rider series, it has a lot of unique costume designs, interesting stories, and cool fight choreography
The part that sucks about the Evolved suit. Is that it's almost a great suit. They're clearly taking a lot of inspiration from spider-gwen featured in TSV movies. And that suit is fire. However just so many dumb design choices completely ruined it.
Personally I felt pretty indifferent to Miles up till like 2018. Then Into the Spider-Verse actually made me quite like him for a time. In 2020 then his solo game came out and I enjoyed myself, but some narrative decisions and weird wordings towards the end of the game made me start throwing the character weird looks (which was only brought more to the forefront by the dumbass points some people made due to the air trick iteration), and now Across the Spider-Verse and Marvel's Spider-Man 2 have both made me start to actively resent him. Curious to see how it'll continue from here on out, but somehow I ain't sensing any good coming from Beyond the Spider-Verse. Interesting point about the red and black btw. I always thought it was a dope look, so I guess I saw no reason to ever really question it
