The song of this movie are masterpieces. Whole album is full of absolute gems. Hats off to everyone involved with this movie. Kamaal Amrohi, Meena Kumari, Ghulam Mohammad, Naushad, Lata Mangeshkar 🙏♥️
Wow what an accurate appraisal of this masterpiece. I agree that the exquisite and deeply moving poetry is most likely inspired by Sufism. The loud noise at the end is the sound of a steam engine whistling. In this scene it symbolises her love for a man whom she met on a train.
The Little Note That Was Placed Between Her Exposed Toe And The Index One , By An Unknown Admirer , While She Was Sleeping On One Of The Lower Bunk Of The Train , Running Away From The Life Of A Nautch Girl , Read DO NOT WALK BARE FEET LEST THEY BECOME DIRTY . That Was The Irony And Ethos Combined In The Depiction Of The Song . The Train Whistle Was Reminiscent Of It .
I can see you were about to cry by watching the song. This song and this movie take you in an awe. That's it. Indeed this is the best song in Bollywood history. Serene, calm, poetic, classically stylized. It is also the best Indian movie ever after Mughal e Aazam.
A classic poster, a classic film and a beautiful filmed song. I dont agree with the 100 selected songs. Only about 10 are truly worthy to be in this list and this song is definitely one of the few timeless jewels from India. I love your channel and your a fabulous person whose reactions I just enjoy so much.
This is a masterpiece of Indian cinema. The movie was a huge hit but only after the death of Meena Kumari did people saw it and realised it's greatness. And it's music was such that even today a majority of people in India consider it the finest musical album ever created. Two trivia facts which I know about the film are : 1. This movie did not get the best music award in the Filmfare awards of that year (They had some vote counting system back then) and in protest an actor named Pran (India's first and widely feared villain -only in films not actually 😂) didn't receive his award for the best supporting actor for Beimaan (1972). And second the whole cast and crew of this film was in Gujarat (where I live) and they were going to shoot some scenes in a jungle. But unfortunately their cars either had a engine failure or had a flat and they were left stranded in a jungle at midnight with nowhere to go and they had also lost their way. To make matters worse they were caught by a very famous bandit group who had killed hundreds of people! But when the leader of the bandits found the lead heroine was Meena Kumari. He said he was a big fan of hers and offered her a huge knife and asked Meena to autograph on her wrist. Meena was shocked but complied in the end and she carved her autograph on his wrist with blood flowing from all around his hand. Then in the morning they repaired their cars with the help of the bandits and got back to the intended shooting location. No need to say that bandit cherished that autograph for the rest of his life. ☺️
Brought a tears to my eyes Next you should do: Kabhi Kabhi Mere Dil Mein (female vocals - though that's my personal choice of the soung). .A classic timeless song.
All the songs take you into semi trance state, subtly submerging you into intoxicating melancholy. The exquisite sets takes you to an utopian world, the repeating stanza with soft music drowns you into an inebriated sublime state
Graciousness and modesty reflects of a women. Being a centre attraction of a brothel she appeared calm gentle and profound. Wao amazing. A man can learn gentlesness and humbleness if he reaches such brothel. That is just opposite thing that I m saying in respect to brothel. Really amazing...Even I can say An spritual brothel .Isnt it amazing? Meena kumari u taken away my heart your profound eyes n manner is pure calm and gentle enough...My Gosh...I loved this song. The cinematography, the song the metaphore lamps the gracefull movements of hands and posture of Wonderfull actress Meena Kumari robbed me entirely. I respect this actress.Wao enough spritiual feeling
I loved the way you connected emotionally with this song. This song and picture are captivating, and you're left almost haunted at the end with the sound of the train whistle. But the train holds great symbolism in this song as this is where she met her lover. And the song encapsulates that entire moment, and she yearns to meet her lover again. The stillness of Meena Kumari is most beautiful, and her expressions just capture your heart. Gorgeous reaction! 😍
Thade rahiyo from pakeezah is another absolute gem. Its in fact underrated and deserved more attention. It's purely classical, and shows the style of thumri. And the dance in that song is much more defined and beautiful. I highly recommend watching it.
I can watch this video any time I've heard the lyrics over and over and over again and it's never enough this cinema, these songs they don't die they are forever imprinted in our mind this is Indian cinema and I love it
during the filming of this song , she was so ill that she couldn't dance, so they decided to add to extra girls in the background . the idea itself worked out fantastically snd it gave deep dimensions to the song 😊
Epic Movie - Epic Acting by Legendary Meena Kumari, Ashok Kumar & Raj Kumar. True Masterpiece - An Artwork woven by Care and Love. Please Watch this Movie. I have watched it 7 Times and Always found it New. Thanks for Honest and Heart Felt Review.
During the filming of these songs, Meena Kumari was very sick and could barely perform. Another actress, Padma Khanna was her stand in for the dance sequences.
I get the vibe of 1/3 night meditation from this MV. It is meditative, but no scary vibes even it's mid night. In Islam, it is believed that 12 am to 4 am is a best time to pray and meditate because Angels are going to the earth to note what are people doing during that time. The MV is also representing the mixture of Indian and Muslim culture, because the woman is not showing the sensuality to get the attention from the man she desires, she also more covering in the way dressing. Btw, your reaction on Dil Laga Liya is still waited, Matt. Also there's another MV that looks very Indian to me from film Chori Chori Chupke Chupke (starring Preiti Zinta, Salman Khan, Rani Mukherje), if I'm not mistaken. I'll find it and you can react on that too 😁
This is my mom favourite song everyday , every morning I listen this song in kitchen with my mom while having tea such a peaceful time wish these times will last forever.
Hi. I really liked ur reaction. You could understand the depth of the song. All songs of the movie are masterpieces....like different gems collected at one place....you should react to the all of them....AND DEFINITELY WATCH THE MOVIE.
i would add just one correction and that is the film having muslim background somewhere in UP india where muslims speak urdu language and the film has been a classic of UP urdu muslim civilization !! your reaction is generous and open i appriciate your gentemanship for the appriciation of this indian master piece film!!
what a tragic coincidence - Meena Kumari ji was actually dying, having been diagnosed with cancer when she did this song and the last stanza translates to these lamps are dying having been burnt... she died soon after and only after that the movie became a hit and is an essential Indian classic ever since...even today my eyes tear up when I listen to this song..
