This is one of the funniest games on this channel - Kramnik’s attack was brutal yet didn’t require Tal-like piece sacrifices, and it’s amusing how such a quiet awkward move like 7...Rg8 comes with such devastating consequences for white

Levon has to come back FAST if he wants to compete for the 1st. It just looks like he is not the favourite anymore with Fabiano, Shakh and, apparently, Vladimir being in for a fantastic tournament. Jerry, will you be also analyzing Caruana - Mamedyarov with this rest day "to spare"? What a game that was!

Kramnic has been my pick since day one. He knows just as much if not more theory than carlsen, and is consistent enough to actually test him in a long match. Mamed was second pick, but he's losing to carlsen if he wins the tournament. Plus with Giri, he can go for attacks as his second is a draw finding specialist and will probably be analyzing ways to bail out of a position. :P

Can you please post more AI games? I loved your vids of the stock fish vs. Google games. Like watching a god play. Or how about this: pick a famous game between grand masters with win/lose outcome. Then let stockfish play the losing side a dozen moves before mate (you being the opponent). It would be neat to see your analysis of the different game evolution. Knowing how to turn a game around is something I struggle with. It just seems that at some point against sf8 one slips permanently into defense. How would sf8 get out of that??

@MrSupernova111

Seems you are referring to Alpha Zero games and those were part of a marketing campaign for Google to sell their software. Don't expect A0 in any TCEC tournaments as their intent is selling the product and no winning at chess. For the record, SF was gutted for that match so there is no point in obsessing over A0. Second, there is no coming back from a losing position against a top engine like SF. Seems naive that you would suggest such a thing.
@dejonge16
@dejonge16 6 лет назад
Marketing? Maybe. But DeepMind created AlphaZefo with the sole intention to dominate the chess scene. They've already beaten the world Go champion with AlphaGo, what makes you think they won't take chess further? It should be noted that the hardware setup was questionable and it was an older version of Stockfish but it was still amazing nevertheless.
@blahsomethingclever
@blahsomethingclever 6 лет назад
MrSupernova111 trust me i know how hard it is to come back when you're behind against sf8. Battling it is a bit of an obsession with me;) So you agree that there's this indefinable point where a game swings against you? Exploring that with sf8 id's interesting.

Aronian's favourite pastime seems to be stumbling onto world chess championship preparation. It happened Vs Anand in Wijk Aan Zee 2013 and it happened here. Both games are arguably in the top 10 miniatures of the 2010s. Poor Levon

4:43 On d4, what if black plays gxh3, preparing hxg2+ with a fork? If the response to that was gxh3 for white, it would already rip the king side open, following Bxh3 and Qh4 ideas, would that be a good move or am I missing something out?
@amirjacob6586

Jerry, could you please explain to me what is an "average centipawn loss"?!
@neilsalmon5900
@neilsalmon5900 6 лет назад
Aronian really showed his lack of double king pawn opening theory as white in this game , there was no need to castle so early but the real clunker was pawn to h3 giving black an easy target , pawn to h3 is usually only played after black has already castled kingside , for one of the super GM's not to know this is shocking . Aronian should stick to what he does best for the rest of the candidates tournament , play the queenside openings as white that he is so good at . Trying to play an opening system that he has had very little experience with was trouble right from the beginning .
