I'm a self-taught National Master in chess out of Pennsylvania, USA who learned how to play from my father in 1988 at the age of 8. The purpose of this channel is to share my knowledge of chess to help others improve their game. I enjoy continuing to improve my understanding of this great game, albeit slowly. Consider subscribing here on RU-vid for frequent chess content. -Jerry
I have heard that Alekhine is pronounced ah-lee-OH-kheen. Don't know if that's correct or not, but it could be. For sure it is improbable that AH-lec-kine is correct.
Thanks for playing out these games I know I went through multiple times as a child. Just without the fancy new algebraic notation these new kids use :P I miss you referring to "king bishop" and "king knight" a lot as in the olden days, nice hearing it in this game!
Development of the mind can be achieved only when the body has been disciplined. - Master Kan. Oro seems to be well disciplined. Well covered Master Jerry! Loved your coverage of that game.
Jerry, I'm convinced that you're not just the best Chess RU-vidr but also one of the most wholesome and enjoyable figures on the internet. Your Standard games (15+10) have improved my chess a great deal. I'd love you to do more of those, but all your content is fantastic. Thanks!
Great commentary as always 🙂 lately I've been receiving far more brilliancies in my games and I couldn't credit anyone more than you for your excellent, digestible analyses. Thanks for helping me become a smarter player!
15:48 I actually went with Qg5+ because I thought that was more direct. Possible lines, king goes to the back rank, Rxd8+ follows. If instead Kf7, Rd7+ would be the response -- king is forced to the back again and the Queen's coming into e7 and g7. Black has no time for cheapos like Qe1 because every move comes with a check.
The break through simplifying rook sac wasn’t surprising, but the early d5 sac is. Fischer pre-game prep on openings & middle games, in his pre-chess engine era, was just extraordinary.
