I love watching you react to celebrities because you are willing to point out certain technical flaws they have and also explain their techniques really well. As someone who spent my whole life learning to sing by listening to these professionals, it’s really helpful to have you explain what is healthy with their voices, and which of their unhealthier techniques to be careful with. Thank you so much for your vids!
have you done a video on famous singers doing singing impressions of other famous singers? like with Jimmy Fallon's Wheel of Musical Impressions. it'll be interesting to hear your views on what they're doing to sound like the other artist.
I miss Whitney. She was truly an original and I just don't think we'll have anyone as amazing as her again. Remember when she did the National Anthem at the super bowl? Outstanding!
Oh Mitch Grassi has returned to this channel :O Can you react to *Pentatonix's famous live performance of Hallelujah?* Mitch Grassi slays in that too (Btw if you reacted to it you would get TONS of views lol, everybody loves Pentatonix reactions and analyses)
Okay first of all, when I see the title of this video, I almost blasted my throat laughing 😂 And omg everytime Sam geeks out on a certain artist and that background music comes in I can’t help but lol’ed 🤣
Oh Sam, you are truly the best. From all the voice teachers reacting here on RU-vid, you are by far the most observant, insightful and always kind and sweet. Your feedback is always on point and I love that you point out some of the unhealthier choices that these artists make to get a distinctive, recognisable sound. It's important that young singers understand this when they try to imitate them, because they might not find a way to make it work right for them! Ps, i agree so much with what you said about not collapsing the internal space! Whatever you are doing in the front with your lips it's so important to maintain your soft pallet lifted!
I LOVED the idea of the signs! Some leos missing: Alison Krauss, Michelle Williams (Destiny’s Child), Jennifer Lopez, Mick Jagger, Martina McBride, Kate Bush, Joe Elliott (Def Leppard), Tony Bennett, Louis Armstrong, Helene Fischer, Madonna, Mika, Lee Ann Womack, Missy Higgins, Kacey Musgraves, Dua Lipa and Tori Amos.
I love Missy Higgins and I’d love to see him react to her. She has wildly different vowel sounds than most singers, because she really uses her Australian accent when she sings. I’ve been a fan of Missy’s for however long it’s been since she released Scar. 15 years? More?
Thank you for making videos! I'm not a singer, but you have the kind of passion for your subject matter and genuine personality that makes it fun for anyone to watch!
Would be nice seeing some Capricorns, sometime in the future. Some interesting voices there too, among them David Bowie, Elvis Presley, Dolly Parton and Eddie Vedder. One could throw a stone in any direction and hit a good singer in any sign, it seems. :) Edit: I like how you point out the strength and weaknesses in any kind of voice, and that you don't have just one kind of voice in the video.
lol i was just thinkng i wanted you to react to serj ... and then i see this video! also Serj Tankian AND Layne Staley pffff this is the best. didnt even mind all the other singers i dont care about jk you analysis is always super helpful
I would love to see a reaction of Layne Staley in other performances, he was such a good singer for me. It will be so interesting. Lots of love Sam, you're amazing ❤️
We really are though. Strutting around all sexy like. Owning shit like a boss. Having the best hair out of everyone. Making friends, being in charge. I love us.
Being a harmony singer I always liked the melody singer to stand behind me and sing THROUGH me soon could feel their space in my body/ mouth/ resonators. Helps me more closely blend/ match their sound. Barbershop bari!
I'm glad you're growing your long hair back!! You inspired me to improve my singing but also to keep a really nice long hair hahaha. Greetings from Argentina, a big fan of yours!!
Virgo gang ♍️ we have some of the best singers rappers and icons like Michael Jackson, Beyoncé, P!NK, Nas, Eazy-E, Foxy Brown, and many more! Where my Virgos at
If you like seeing people who aren’t known for singing, sing- I recommend Jensen Ackles. I think there’s a lot to look at with him. There’s the Nashcin version of Whipping Post, or his version Wild Mountain Thyme. They both sound like they’re sung by completely different people. And then there’s his own songs, Sounds of Someday and Drowning- they both sound like him. You hear them, and you hear his speaking voice in them. I’m a fan. He has a lovely voice. And he’s a good musician too- I’m pretty sure that’s what he’ll be doing after Supernatural ends. Music and his brewing company. He’s already released one album (he and his friend Steve Carlson formed the band Radio Company, and they write their own music), and apparently they’re already recording the second. I’m looking forward to it, I loved the first album. I’d say it has a sort of folksy-rock sound.
Parn Wonganudroj you’re welcome. He sings, plays guitar, and is a pretty good songwriter too. An all around talented musician. The Radio Company album is my current favourite listen. He’s got a gorgeous voice, it’s smooth and can be sweet, with a good range, but can also give that lovely “honey over gravel” type of growl. And he’s versatile too- everything from very sweet folk to a hard rock (hence why I recommend the two songs I did, they’re at the opposite ends of what he sings). He also did a lovely cover of Angeles (originally by Eliot Smith) a few years ago. Honestly, I prefer his cover over the original. He sings at Supernatural conventions (that’s where he first started singing in public), and has done great live covers of songs like Brother, Simple Man, Sister Christian, Tennessee Whisky (has got the voice for it, and his runs are fantastic too), and he and Corey Taylor did a great cover of Wanted Dead or Alive last year. Very entertaining.
How about instead he does a reaction to one of the performances Mariah releases for MC30? I'm kind of tired of the Vanishing rehearsal by now, it's kind of overrated.
Brianna B then she could react to a performance which is already out and expected to be in the MC30 releases- were not making love anymore (mariah and Micheal Bolton) or she can do a more conventional one, like her performance of if it’s over at the Grammys. Etc
9:16 I almost spit my tea everywhere 😂 Also, that's me, wondering about my neighbours. One actually told me that the walls are thin and he could hear me... 😶 ok... so? (How did it sound??)🙈
Please do an analysis of a full Alice and Chains song and Layne Staley! I would love to hear what you had to say about “Down in a Hole” because there are lots of awesome harmonies in there!! Please please please
Sam, I beg of you. PLEASE do more AURORA. She has so many amazing performances of her original music and you’ve only ever seen her do a cover. Her original works are amazing!
I NEED to hear your take on Claudio Sanchez from Coheed and Cambria. He's got tons of character voices that he does in his songs, along with just a unique tone generally.
I love this video even though it hurts a little to know that Whitney Houston has the same birthday as myself [August 9]. Knowing many artists [except Leonardo] are ♌ even Christina Perri is amazing because most Leos are amazing 😀🤷🏾♀️
the way you were talking about some of these rock singers' tight places made me wonder about Jack Black. would be curious to see you do a video of him! and also, Raveena Aurora, have you heard her ? If you watch her tiny desk performance she is smiling almost the whole time. now that i watch your channel, I wonder about her choice to smile while singing, and what you think it does for her performances and her music. thx!
I don't think I've ever been this early. 🤣 If you can and want, I would love to see you react to Taeyeon's FINE and/or Feel So Fine from her 'S concert. :D You're my favorite voice teacher on YT, I'd love to hear what you think of her. :)
Stfu, I have a collection of songs that I sing when I'm warming up or whatever and "Stay" is right there at the top of the list. Glad I'm making good choices! 😂
Love your vids they've really been helping me but since I've joined my vocal class in Uni a bit back my teacher was classically trained and he wants to teach me in the classical method. Would I still be able to sing pop and R&B learning the classic way? Thank you💜
Funny thing is that Leonardo DiCaprio is actually a Scorpio! Probably they put him there to make a “joke” about his name, because he is the only one in the video who’s not a Leo (astrological sign)! Nice video!
