In this latest hearthstone battlegrounds update (patch 27.2.2) they're nerfing a buffing a bunch of cards and anomalies. On top of removing and introducing some cards and anomalies. Hope you enjoy the breakdown!

Anomalies are really cool, but it feels so bad playing a lobby that got a boring one. The copy hp/atk ones are so boring, Denathrius, even tier 7 to a degree just because you get it so often it doesn’t feel special.

Yeah I was super excited for this season but I have really not enjoyed this one as much as I thought I would. Most of them are very boring to me and then the ones I liked ended up becoming boring after a while.

About Carbon Copy: it's also important to notice that now it will be playable on the tiers1,2,3,4 anomaly, making the Elementals a really good tribe for this one. Party Elem was already a good way to scale up in this, it will just be better.

@@gustavogioramoura8541 You can play the strongest Naga build in the game which is only missing one card that is already one of the weakest cards in the build. A full crooner build outscales every other build that's locked to tier 4.

Exactly what happened to me today.. got carbon copy the free refresh guy and the elemental that buffs a minion based on refreshes.. super strong😊

I keep asking myself how they can justify making the battle grounds battle pass with less stuff cost more than the overwatch one, and it’s because they know how fucking badly hero dependent anomalies make lobbies. It’s utterly ridiculous that more than 2 hero’s is locked behind a 15 dollar paywall ever 3 months. Hearthstone is not WOW and a mini game inside a game should not have a glorified monthly subscription if you want to play competitively. And this is coming from someone who hasn’t played competitively since like patch 4 or 5

Sadly I have to agree. The addition of bad/meh heroes and hero-dependent mechanics makes the pass a real advantage. It makes BG feels like a P2W sometimes.

As a casual player, anomalies are fun for me. But otherwise I feel like they remove player agency too much. During Buddies, you could choose between different heroes, based on the tribes in the lobby and plan accordingly. During Quests, you could choose between three and strategize from there. During Anomalies, they are set randomly every game with no choice from the players and heroes are completely unbalanced (in both ways; some are almost brokenly strong, whilst some are straight up useless) with certain modifiers. It seems like they only cared about the implementation of Tier 7 and all the other stuff was thrown in there, for a little bit of big scale variety, because small scale variety got butchered.

I played with Recurring Nightmare quite a bit and actually just lost combats due to eventually it will just stop triggering the deathrattle. It often took some while, but eventually nightmares will stop spawning in combat. With 5 attack those combats into high stats were forced to last long, but now it might actually do the trick.

recurring nightmare should be a neutral that only exists in undead lobbies, it having alot of attack is very toxic and i think this patch missed the mark on that, any tier 7 lobbies with undead just end the same

Buddies were fine, quests were okay, anomalies are absolutely dumb. You can't just play a regular game of hearthstone anymore. Since anomalies has dropped I haven't had a single game where I just...play. Everything is based around the anomaly now and if a certain anomaly is in a lobby with a certain tribe then EVERYONE goes that tribe and it makes the game boring. I miss being able to have a scuffed board and still be able to make it to top 4 or just the feeling of high rolling in a slow lobby. You can't do that anymore, everyone high rolls or low rolls there's no inbetween. I just feel like it's not the same game anymore and that's not a good thing to me.

One tribe lobbies were just kind of boring, as they really had no variety. And when everyone in the lobby is forced to have the same plan, it's just RNG that decides who wins in the end.

The Everything's on Fire anomaly is more balanced than Money Match. Had a turn 20 game the other day because everyone was scared to die so they didn't level and just scaled board off of tier 1 and 2 for a bit until some people started dying and felt they could take the risk to level later. Money Match I'm usually dead on Turn 7 or 8 because the highrolls are absolutely ruthless.

Quilboar are still an instant win key. Only think I've found to beat them is scam murlocs. They need to nerf the bloodstone scaling back a hair.

Removing Elise from the prize triple lobby is a good change and, there’s a new Strat where people stay on one and discover triples and end up with like 20K/20K agent baggars after turn 12 by staying on one

Recurring nightmare is my least favourite new card. Been scammed so many times already by this card. Had an amazing omu t7 game where I was winning nearly every combat for the entire game and then died from over 30 hp because my opponent (who was already playing undead and had a golden baron already) managed to triple into two nightmares.

Honestly I find Recurring Nightmare not as bad as it seems (though the fact it’s copies still count as 7 tier is super toxic). I’ve run it with some pretty ideal setups and still lost to just raw stats. It’s quite reasonable for elementals, quillboar, and even demons to just out pace the damage you can deal, even with our using explicitly anti-undead cards. Though to be fair this might heavily depend on the lobby/anomaly

It's also just as volatile as leapers were, if you hit all your nightmares on your back minion and then they just don't hit that till the end, you get basically no value from it.

Just had an elemental game with Galakrond and Tavern Tempest is a nightmare, I had already trouble with the animations of just Rock Rock and Trumpeteer. Maybe early on when you play tempo with an extra unit but remember that dual naga elemental is in even if nagas are out and just gives you elemental at bobs tavern late game, you most often don't need recycling wraith, just Rock Rock or Party Elemental 2 Trumpeteers and divine shielded elementals or maybe that quilboar that set back stats to 3/3. the refreshing gimmick elementals are strong early but what's the point of keeping them if you scale faster just selling elementals than long ass animations of refreshing the shop?
