This is what a typical day looks like for a pilot in Papua. Watch me try to keep it together when I can't get a straight answer from anyone in the village. 🙈 Runways featured are: Sentani Bomela Wamena Pipal Tanggeam
I'm glad you enjoyed it! It makes me happy to know there are still pilots who don't want to just go straight to the airlines. Good luck with getting your ratings and hopefully we'll see you out here someday!
@@mapsedge exactly! I don't even really want to go to the airlines that bad. I love adrenaline stuff like this. How did you get into this job and get hired if you don't mind me asking?
@Ricky Bobby I hate to sound cliché but it really was right place at the right time. However, my resume was properly padded with cfi experience, a little Alaska time, and some time in a caravan. Basically I would recommend looking at your dream job, see the requirements and start working on checking off boxes. You'll learn a lot along the way and be a better pilot for it. Good luck wherever you end up!
@@starz8227 I am going to Community College of Baltimore County. It's a 2 year course. Had some hurdles along the way, but I have hopefully a little over a year left.
literally one of the coolest videos I have ever seen. this kind of job is so foreign for so many people, and by bringing your experience to everyone, you're filling our heart with hope and inspiration. truly an amazing look into your life and that of a bush pilot. keep doing what you're doing!
You guys really are a great help for these people. Gives hope for them, I might say. Thank you for doing this. I hope you guys working in a remote villages like this won't loose your temper. Really hard to communicate. Godspeed.
It's good that they come through mountains and caves and you speak their language and that's great. Kids are eagerly waiting for your plane I think you are the first pilot to land on this runway
Captain Ricard mind blowing. Thank You. On the Greater Plane actually Service being done to the so called Modern Civilisation thru them through the Basics of Evolution of LOUVE & Peace. Thk You
My Gosh, Bush pilot must constantly face the unexpected. Different day, different situations. Anyway, I do enjoy your videos. Pilatus is definitely for this job.
Hey nice video! One question: are there still chances to find a job as a bush pilot? I don't care where in the world. are there places where they search the most? i just did the PPL in switzerland and would be willing to continue.
I'm around 1.9 m which is taller than average worldwide. Meanwhile Indonesians are some of the shortest people on average. So yeah, I have to duck a lot!
I've been here 5 years. The language I'm mangling is Indonesian, but most of the locals speak it too. We do our best but sometimes communication issues still come up🤷♂️
When I was training for my CPL one of my instructors was a missionary pilot in PNG for 7 years. The extra curricular training I received was brilliant. But as a female I was told by him never fly there! Man dog woman in that order. I would not survive. Just before I got my CPL a female helicopter pilot had her throat slit through the night in PNG. Different place for sure.
PNG is wild. The Indonesian side isn't great for women but it's definitely not that bad. I've known a few female pilots here and other than being harassed by drunks, they are generally treated well and really enjoy their time in Papua.
I see you’re a professional pilot and really knows what you’re doing, I also understand these local people can be stressing to guide and to make them do what’s right, BUT I can also see you being somewhat mean and disrespectful to people who clearly knows very little about the world or politeness. Being a top gun is not excuse to diminish others. So I unsubscribed. 👎
You have no idea how frustrating it can be to deal with these situations every single day. This video is a reflection of our daily ops. Even if he might come across rude, it's genuine and legit footage.
