Today I started a 50 hour bush pilot program. I am hoping to complete it in 4 weeks. This is a Vlog of my float flying training and experience at Fort Langley Air in Pitt Meadows, British Columbia near Vancouver Canada.
To become a float pilot in Canada, you must meet certain requirements and follow a specific training process. Here are the steps you can take to become a float pilot:
Meet the basic requirements: To be eligible for float pilot training in Canada, you must be at least 17 years of age and hold a valid Category 1 or 3 medical certificate. You must also have a minimum of 15 hours of flight time as a pilot-in-command (PIC) of an airplane.
Obtain a private pilot license: You must first obtain a private pilot license (PPL) from a Transport Canada approved flight training school. This requires a minimum of 45 hours of flight time, including solo flight time, and passing a flight test.
Get a seaplane endorsement: Once you have your PPL, you need to get a seaplane endorsement, which involves specific training on operating a seaplane on water. This training typically includes at least 7 hours of flight time and a flight test.
Overall, becoming a float pilot in Canada requires dedication, hard work, and a commitment to safety. It's important to choose a reputable flight training school and follow all regulations and guidelines set by Transport Canada.

Flew there last year with them, great outfit. No music would be a better take, just the sounds of flying with commentary. Thanks for posting.

what is it to "hold a valid Category 1 or 3 medical certificate?"
@onenutnightmare
@onenutnightmare 11 месяцев назад
You need a category 1 medical to fly commercially (for money) and a category 3 medical to fly privately (not for money) in Canada.

This is my dream job right here. What are the steps for getting here?
@onenutnightmare

First thing you need to do is get you private pilots license (PPL). You can get your PPL on floats. If you intend to enter the float world I would strongly suggest you find somewhere you can get your PPL on floats. You want to start building float experience right from the beginning.

@@onenutnightmare yeah thank you I don’t think I’ll be able to do floats with where I’m at, but could I get my license then learn floats?

Would it be better to have your CPL before doing this course if you wanted to get hired as a bush pilot?
@onenutnightmare

If you know you want to be a bush pilot I would look for a place you could do you PPL on floats. If you already have your PPL I would do this course during your time building portion of your CPL.

@@onenutnightmare thanks for the reply! I found a program that gets you PPL and CPL on floats. Going to be looking into that.
