Bout 1.5 yrs ago I had some ac work done on my car they replaced the blower, the resistor, and expansion valve. W/o going into too much explanation they charged me about $1200 worth of work. Fast forward later they end up giving me a refund for all the work and I am now having issues w/ no fan blowing. The symptoms you described were almost identical to what I experienced. Works then randomly shuts off and it increased in frequency. Now the blower won't come on at all. I thought it was a resistor and already ordered it. I came across this video wracking my brain as to what else it could be and you gave me a little pc of mind thinking Im headed down the right path. If no update then assume that my issue was this and it was fixed w/ the part change.

Thanks for your work on this man. I've been trying to figure out why my 2000 Silverado was doing the same thing. Ordered a new one. Thanks

Great video that is well explained in concise terms. I am starting the troubleshooting process for my 2005 Tahoe to determine where along the path the issue is. I have the same symptoms that you describe.

I wish you would have popped open that old module to see the damage, and to see what was rattling around inside of it.. I've got the same issue, with intermittent shutting off and turning on, but I'm going to try to fix my relay instead of replacing it.. wish me luck. I'm sure it'll end up in the dumpster along with about 11 hours of time and a couple rolls of solder, but what the heck..

Did you ever find out the failure point of the blower motor resistor?

I am having the same issue on an 06 equinox, but the blower doesn't quit.It seems like the AC just decides it doesn't want to cool any more. Intermittent.

My 2004 GMC Yukon XL the blower would just stay on nonstop even with the key off and out. I would pull the fuse so it wouldn't kill me battery so I gotta replace the same part

I did the permanent fix for it my blower motor turning off and on intermmitently on my 2003 Silverado. I bought an "add a circuit." I bought the 30 amp one. I pulled the 30 amp fuse out in the cab for the heater/AC hvac system and plugged in the add a circuit that has 2, 30 amp fuses in it with a pig tail coming out of it. I connected 8 ft of 14 gauge electrical wire to it with a butt connector. I ran the other end to the blower motor on the passenger side of the cab. I cut the pig tail off of the blower motor(the blower motor just has 2 wires coming out of it. A red and a black wire. I connected it to the red wire. The black wire on the blower motor I connected an eyelet to it and connected it to one of the glove box hinge screws which was a good ground. I cut the 8 ft piece of wire right above the transfer case shifter and installed a toggle switch from walmart. Now I can turn my blower motor off and on with that toggle switch. I only have high fan speed, but I don't care.

I have replaced that part on mine 3 times over the last few years. Now I can be sitting at a stop and the Dan stop blowing and start moving and it comes back on. I’m just about tired of dealing with it.

Is your resistor still working? On my 2003 chevy silverado the blower motor turns off and on all the time too. I have to change out the $13 blower motor resistor from e-bay every 6 months. Been doing this for 2 years now.

On my 2003 Silverado 2500HD I have to replace the $13 blower motor resistor on e-bay every 6 months. It sucks, but I have just started to look at it as the cost of doing business with that pickup. I have bought the $36 one at NAPA as well and that one only lasts 6 months too. When they go bad they do the same thing as what that guy said. The blower motor just keeps turning off and on and it is really annoying, when your trying to defrost the windshield. I also keep a 200 watt cigarette lighter windshield defroster in my pickup in-case the fan would totally quit working.
