not stooges or pre-show. but the first part is correct. maybe u can call it dual reality,, like both spectators were convinced! Anyway, It was a nice presentation.. amazing Nate

my theory on how it's done, but it's not a perfect theory: both times when he folds up the card and gives it to the person, those are double-lifts. the first part, he gives Dawn a jack with some scribbles on it. Then he gives Laramie Dawn's card - which he has on top of the card Laramie actually signed. Then when Dawn opens her hand, she sees the jack with some writing on it. HOWEVER, because she *never* saw what Laramie wrote (only the audience and the camera did), she just assumes it's actually Laramie's card. Then of course, Nate takes that card and uses some slight of hand to produce Laramie's actual card, and shows that to Laramie and the audience. And Laramie's been holding Dawn's card the whole time, so the finale's easy. The flaw in this theory is...how did Nate know Laramie would have bad hand-writing? If he didn't, Dawn would be tough to fool. So I'm not 100% on that part.

Steven An actually, now that i think about it, the fact that it's a jack of spades makes it very difficult to read and write anyway, so perhaps the simple visuals of the card make it easier to fool Dawn. of course, the other flaw in my theory: If Dawn sees this video on RU-vid, she may be able to confirm that, indeed, she didn't *actually* have Laramie's card.

***** i suppose..but you see laramie's card pretty clearly around 2:13. although I guess if I were Dawn, i wouldn't really remember exactly what I saw (briefly) in my hands. Anyway, it's not really that important. at the end of the day, it's a great trick, and Nate's execution was awesome!

Steven An Also, I gotta say, Nate's "save" when he asks Laramie to rewrite it just so it matches the fake card better, is pretty awesome :P

i for one can actually say that you are wrong i met Nate and participated in this trick, as did a young girl who could do barely more than scribble, and we actually stood next to each other while we wrote our initials and signatures on the cards. it was completely mind blowing
