I agree, buddy. I read this quote from a fellow youtuber, and I want to also spread it around, and this comment is perfect for it; So, I will quote, Fred Kaps. "I know that to play a violin I put the instrument to my face, press my fingers on the strings and strike it with a bow. Then, music comes out. That's the secret to playing the violin, but it doesn't mean I can do it. You may know the secret to a trick, but it doesn't mean you can perform magic."
I respectfully disagree with the decision to make the spectator fail and make that failure a prediction. It takes the spotlight off the spectator who is over the moon and puts it back on the magician to essentially say he's so clever and knew the outcome the whole time.
I agree. I do it the old way too but who am I to talk shit to Michael Ammar ? The guy studied and with, and was used to demonstrate techniques by Dai Vernon ferChristsakes. If he makes an artistic choice that's up to him. Me ? I watch David's face. You and I know when to stop. It just came to me. Do you think Mr Ammmar just added the kicker to have a new thing to sell in his videos ? ( videos ? you can sure tell I'm old)
Great trick and very brilliant performance ! Nevertheless, from 00:55 to 01:24 (i.e. almost thirty seconds), Mr Ammar is quietly sorting the cards into red and black, with nobody seeming to be surprised nor asking : "What are you doing ?". IMHO, a Roadrunner Cull would have been far more deceptive. The misdirection at 04:50 is absolutely awesome, I'm going to use it from now :-))
Christian Decroze - you don't understand magic, because if you revealed the method, you'd be being a killjoy by ruining the "feeling" of magic for everyone who didn't know - just so you could show that "you" know. Read a magic book and learn rule number 1!
That doesn't mean they are in on the trick. I do a ***VERY*** similar trick myself (my 'bit of business' is done in a different place and way to how it was done here though), it's one of my goto impromptu tricks.
King Robert I guess until, and unless you provide a video of a "more effective" presentation (and you've not had over a year to produce one since your post is a year old), the real answer is, NO YOU DON'T.
