A cheap, powerful source of static electricity 

Sci4Funn - Wrapping and rubbing a PVC pipe with a brown, rough paper towel can generate powerful static electricity. It can be used to run many interesting experiments; such as Flying muffin tins, Electrostatic motors, Franklin's Bell, Flying plastic ring, Charging a Leyden jar etc. These experiments might not work, if the air humidity is too high.
