If I understand correctly, Alec is suggesting that gay Chinese men who have married straight Chinese women should remain in such relationships out of a sense of obligation and duty? I can only see this limiting the happiness of the Chinese women in question. Intimacy is part of a couple's happiness, and such marriage arrangements deny that to both parties. It's a strange thing to advocate, and spoken very much from a man's perspective, I think. I doubt that such a relationship would ever bring long-term happiness to either party.
