This is also my favorite part of the entire movie. This actress was simply fantastic!!! I can remember rewinding it over and over just to see this part.
When I was a boy. I was a good student. Everybody were kind before I drop out. I didn't have feeling until seeing my mothers tear. Her song reminded me the feeling I've had.
Her interpretation is not the best, but I like how at the beginning she laughs and makes jokes, and she gets more serious during the song and almost ends up in tears at the end.
I had a lecturer like this, the criticism wasnt as targeted as it was in her case, but he was a real pompous man, who made his course more difficult and tedious than it needed to be (and it was an already difficult subject) I pushed to pass his course anyway, Then a few months later...he died. I dont know if its worse to be hypocritical and dislike someone in life , then be all sympathetic and sad when they die. Or if its worse to use your dislike of a person to justify not caring about them dying. Either way, her crying at the end because she felt nothing was a mood I could relate to when I walked pass his memorial service so I could get home.
Thank you the Late Professor William Robert Stephen Gerristead , for the teaching in life and love for 5 years. Thank you My Dear , For the 40 years of your career from 1978 to 2018 Born May 16th 1961 and Died tragically April 10th 2018 . Welcome 🙏 home to the Lord . Superman.
Becca Chapman well, this whole movie was just Meh. The stage versions are so much better. This is such a great song and she just doesn’t do it justice 🤦🏽♀️❤️
I absolutely love this song. At first glance it seems like one of the lesser songs from the show, but if you really analyze it, it's so powerful. I do agree that this was a little too harsh for my taste, but still a good performance. Is it just me, though, or does she kind of look like a female version of Mario Lopez during his "Saved By The Bell" Days? :-P
our school did "a punch line" {Like a chorus line, but with comedians) (a custom play) we used all the songs from this, just changed the lyrics, and made it more hilarious.
When you lose a Performing Arts genius who pushes you to your limits, you never forget what they taught you, when life was scarier to a stage performance, in life there are no dress rehearsals, life is a stage.
Same here- especially the very end: "6 months later I heard that Carp had died... so I dug way down to the bottom of my soul, and cried... 'cause I felt.. nothing...." :*)
Yeah I think they could've done better without Cassie. It just...idk...it seems like maybe the musical didn't run long enough so they wanted to put that subplot in there
Yamil Borgess is my favorite Dianna. Probably the ONLY one to really seem Puerto Rican and act the song with an array of attitude and emotions. "You know what Morales. I think you should transfer to Girls High. You'll never be an actress. NEVER."
I watched a stage production of A Chorus line and it seems to be pretty in line with the movie. So I'm not sure why people dump on it so much. Also, I like this Diana Morales better than the one in the stage play I saw. Borges reeks NYC where of course this is set.
Robert Lopez Jlo Was Diana To Me When She Was Starting Out Dancing n Acting. She Got Her Movie Quote ‘ Were Puerto Rician We Jump Around A lot n Jlo Did Her Shaking Dance When She Was Younger
I really like this song. I thought Yamil Borges, did an incredible job with it. If she didn't, she wouldn't have become a successful singer over in Germany.
@cb2398 Haha! You have a good sense of humor. On a more serious note, yeah, I've known some people like that. They pretty much trudge through life repeating to themselves, "This bullshit is absurd."
So.... how much of this movie is these extremely talented dancers standing passively on a line watching a solo number where another talented dancer doesn't dance, but sings? Watching the initial scenes, that's not what I thought this movie would be... I mean, at least they could have come up with a dance sequence as part of the song....
Woo we're doing this as part of our school musical (Its a mixture of loads of musicals) and the girl that's doing it, my GOD she's amazing! Like way better than this person here :D
@cb2398 I'm not 100% sure that's what it means. I have always interpreted those lines to mean that she couldn't feel anything for him, so she faked it because she IS a real actress. It's away to rub it in his face.
Theya Havranek she was crying because she didn't feel anything when she heard the teacher died. The way he treated her caused her to lose all sympathy for him.
allieandfluff in making a musical they rarely sing on set. They recorded in the studio then lip sync as they film. Hard to get good sound and the actors voice can tire after 10-20 takes. But it is her own singing
theminutepast she does cares that Mr. Carp died. You can see it in her explanation. He may have been tough on her but she still misses him and now she knows why. very sweet 😢
Acting in a play is different bc it's more emotional and more about feeling. That's hard to convey thru a screen. But lets be honest: there are some real shitey plays out there too. Hello Dolly for example. The only reason why ppl say the play is better is bc seeing a play isn't as accessible as seeing a movie. If more ppl saw plays vs. movies, I guarantee you that plays like Wicked and Hamilton will get BETTER critiques that are more about story, design and pace rather than just design.
These orchestrations are so utterly awful No wonder this is the biggest flop of a Broadway musical to the screen of all time. This Diana Morales is horrific.
