I love your channel!! I discovered Journey and Steve a month ago and now I can't stop listening to them 😅. Thank you for all the content you give us, I didn't have the opportunity to see them live because I'm 21 years old so all the content you upload to your channel helps me learn more about Steve and the band. Sorry for my English, I'm from Spain. Merry christmas!🎄

Oh, many thanks @@nikolatesla1901, and enjoy your listening! 🤩 I have to say I recognize myself in your comment: as a "young" French fan, I only discovered Journey in 2014, thanks to a piano cover of _Don't Stop Believin',_ and it took me a few more months or years to really become a fan of the band and for Steve Perry to become my main vocal reference...

Hello Ron, according to the friend Loneman1, there's a dating problem concerning this recording. Here's what he commented the last time you posted this song, under the title _Journey "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town":_ _"Radio interview from _*_12/96,_*_ promoting their then new album "Trial By Fire"... the city the interview came from escapes me though..."_ After I argued you wrote "1986" twice in the description of your video, even specifying that at the time, Journey consisted of "Steve Perry, Neal Schon, and Jonathan Cain, with Randy Jackson and Mike Baird", and asked Loneman1 what was the right information then, he later clarified: _"I remember getting this radio interview on cassette back in the late 90's during my bootleg trading days. It was definitely from an interview promoting TBF in _*_December of '96,_*_ and they added this little gem into one of the interviews randomly. I really need to track down that cassette again in my collection and get the actual city the interview was for. I believe it was either New York or Atlanta. I also have TBF promo radio interviews from Houston and Seattle, but I'm pretty sure the one featuring this "impromptu" performance was from over more on the east coast IIRC."_ Regarding the final video extract now, it comes from the extended version of the _Foolish Heart_ music video directed by Jack Cole in the autumn of 1984. Here's what Steve Perry himself had to say about it in a 2008 GQ interview: _"Even while I was doing the solo album, even after it was successful - in my heart of hearts, I was never gonna leave Journey. I had no desire to. At the end of the last video from my solo album, for “Foolish Heart,” there’s an extra tag-on section that I shot for the video, to just tell everybody that that particular phase of my career was now over and now I’m back to Journey._ _The video is a one-camera move. One huge mag, with not one edit. It starts way in the back, over a railing, and it rolls up to the front. I walk onstage. I sing with a microphone and a music stand. And it rolls around, and halfway through the song it starts rolling back out. And when it parks back out in the audience, at the end of the song, I walk offstage._ _But in the extra tagged-on piece, I cut to stage right, facing me walking offstage, over the shoulders of Jon, Neal, Ross and Steve. Giving me high fives. Like, “Hey, man, that was great! Let’s go have some pizza. Right on!” So that was like a nod to Journey from my solo side. “Let’s go fuckin’ be Journey again.” I wouldn’t have done that if I had any desire to leave the group. I didn’t! We went back, and we started writing Raised on Radio."_ I'll be happy to update my knowledge if you think Loneman1 or I were wrong. Until then Ron, keep up the great work of archiving and sharing your collections! 🤩

Thanks for the information. I don't remember where I got this recording. It is dated as 1986 but I'm not too sure, so I didn't want to list names of people that might not have played on the song. I guess Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain are also sure bets. I'll update the name and the thumbnail!

@@wheelinthesky4208 Thanks for the fix, Ron! Yeah, I think Jay and Neal are sure bets too. And wouldn't it be Ross playing to the gallery while singing the bass part at 0:19? 😄
