The Tom Snyder Interview of Journey from 1982!
The Tom Snyder Late Late Show featuring Journey in 1982. Late Night Talk Show Host Interviews Journey! They also perform "Who's Crying Now" and ""Don't Stop Believin'" but they aren't played here for copyright reasons. You can see them walk off the Stage and into the Tom Snyder set. I don't know what happens to Neal Schon and Steve Smith as they aren't part of the interview.
I think there was a mixup on which song they were playing on the East Coast live freed, but it was corrected for the West Coast viewing which you'll see here as they mention something about it.

By the way, this interview is already on RU-vid somewhere and with the full performance of both songs. Fyi.

This was a weird broadcast. First I heard they were going to be on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. Then it got switched to another late night show. Then it suddenly happened on Tom Snyder. I can't play the songs on my channel as they get hit with copyright strikes.

Apparently this was from 1981. I wonder if it was a rebroadcast you captured (pun intended)?

As I remember, he said the wrong song when it was live on the East Coast. This is the corrected version for the West Coast but they left in the laughs on the second song.

Why did Ross Valory use a chair? If you look at the back of the Infinity album, you can see that he doesn't need one.

It was kind of prophetic that Tom Snyder made sure that Ross Valory was the one who answered the question on how do you can a guy :-) Steve Smith and Ross were the ones who got let go twice. I've met both of them before and they seemed like the two nicest guys and they enjoyed talking to a fan. I've never met Steve Perry but I did meet the other members between 1979 and 1983 and I really did enjoy meeting Steve Smith first and then 4 years later Ross Valory. They were the most laid-back and enjoyable members of met from Journey. I'm not going to act like I know all of the details/truths of what went on that led to them being fired together twice. But I do wish they were still with the band today. I still hope that the final tour will be with that 1981 lineup! Doesn't seem like that will probably happen but I can keep hoping... Thanks Brian. I did meet Steve Perry in 2007. I sat and talked to him for about 5 minutes before being interrupted. I'll tell that story one day on Wheel In The Sky blog.

What were the events of the day that caused the song change?

Journey planned to perform two songs on the shows - “Who’s Crying Now” and “Line of Fire.” However, the day before the band was to perform on the show, Anwar Sadat, the President of Egypt, was assassinated by fundamentalist army officers during a military parade.

Very interesting. I just assumed Tom said the wrong song title.

Achei deselegante o jeito que esse apresentador tratou SP, me pareceu mal educado e recalcado.
