James is the real MVP, his quick thinking and support is so commendable, especially considering how difficult you find the process of needles and how you felt in general! Incredibly relieved to hear that you're on the mend now, PLEASE take the time to rest up and recharge girl! Sending you lots of love and strength❤

The whole ‘feel like I’m dying’ is actually a symptom of a blood infection. They call it a sense of impending doom and is a genuine symptom. Glad you’re feeling better xx

‘C-protein’ test is your CRP, or C-reactive protein. It’s used in conjunction with your white blood cells to measure the level of infection in your system. The higher the number, the more inflammation you have in your system. With both being high, it’s indicative of pneumonia or septicemia (among other things), which is a blood infection. I’m glad James made the call, and that you were seen, because that can get incredibly serious, incredibly fast.
@SarahRenniexoxo
@SarahRenniexoxo 2 года назад
I honestly thought she had pneumonia with the symptoms she was explaining, I was hospitalised for a month with it last year and you couldn't be more right about how fast it can become serious, I didn't catch mine on time and it turned into Empyema which I had to get chest drains inserted!

Yeah I chronically have high C-Protein and cortisol levels. Haven’t had normal levels since I was a 14 before I got Lyme disease and CAEBV.
@lemondew8138
@lemondew8138 2 года назад
When I had covid my c reactive protein was through the roof lol My normal is between 11 and 25, 40+ my doctor considers it a flare up. 148 was my number during covid while on the dexamethasone protocol, I can only imagine without it how high it would have been. I had sepsis from fungal pneumonia( on top of covid viral pneumonia)

It's crazy how someone can be living a healthy lifestyle and suddenly get a bad infection days away from sepsis! I was crying a little bit when you were talking about how scared you were of the needles and stuff. I have a huge phobia of hospitals. So glad to hear you're okay 💓

I had sepsis almost 3 years ago so I am a massive advocate for anybody who has had sepsis who has had “systemic inflammatory response syndrome” which is the first stage of sepsis because it sirs then sepsis, severe sepsis, then septic shock. And sepsis education is a massive thing for me and I do a lot of education on it. I teach health care professionals about sepsis and it’s aftermath

I had the same experience with tonsillitis and it also got missed and I didn't get help.. I was still working as they said it was probably just a mild throat infection.. I worked on a perfume counter and it was Christmas.. So the fumes from that mixed with throat infection made it ten times worse.. I didn't get it checked again until about three days later and I was rushed in with similar symptoms to you but my throat had nearly closed up. I then reacted to the antibiotics they gave me. I was off work sick for about 5 months and had a shockingly bad immune system for at least a year.. I also had 72 ulcers in my mouth at one time and the doctor said he'd never seen anything like it but its because I was so run down. I remember saying to my dad that I don't know how I'm going to keep going.. I have a fairly low immune system anyway so it totally wiped me out and I honestly didn't know if I was gonna be able to carry on. Now I'm a lot more aware of my health needs.. I really hope you feel better soon xx

@@sophdoesvlogs this was a couple of years ago now and touch wood I haven't had it again xx I refuse to see that doctor now as the people at the hospital had said that the pus at the back of my throat was not new and that it had been there for days and he obviously had missed it or hadn't looked properly. Hope you feel better really soon xx its amazing how it affects people so differently, I know so many people who are fine with tonsillitis and then people like us really struggle randomly 🤷🏻‍♀️ on a positive note it made me realise that my other half was the one.. We had been together about 8 months and he didn't drive at the time and I was craving a slush haha.. he finished work, went all over town looking for somewhere in winter that was doing slush, got on the bus, dropped it to my house and kissed me on the forehead then got back on a bus to his house in the opposite direction ❤️❤️

@@RaZZmaTazzzzzzzzzzZZ I had a similar infection last year. Because I've got no tonsils my mom was checking my throat and she said the ulcers were literally flowing from the back of my throat. By the next day the ulcers had no more space in my mouth and spilled out onto my lips, side of my mouth and under my nose. The urgent care diagnosed me with something so similar to sepsis they couldn't even tell me what I was. I couldn't even be admitted because there were no beds, and sent me packing with antibiotics. I had five days on bed rest where it was very touch and go.

I had a similar situation in my first year of uni. I couldn’t eat or drink anything for 2 weeks. I was literally forcing 500ml of immune boosters & water down every day. Sores absolutely everywhere including my lips. The doctor also said he’d never seen anything like it, and none of the doctors at the student wellness centre knew what it was at first. Eventually with penicillin it went away but they put it down to gluten intolerance 🤷🏼‍♀️

The "21 weeks pregnant" and "You've got the wrong Sophie" part had me laughing so hard 💜. I'm happy you're alright. I also have issues with needles and I have a scar where I had an IV (what you call a Cannula). I've had one a couple other times and it's been fine. I have lupus and sometimes huge flares will give me seized muscles or severe migraines that can land me in the hospital. It sucks but it's worse that I can't have my mom with me because of COVID regulations (I know this sounds silly but I miss information and slur quite a bit when I'm flaring. It can be super dangerous because I have a couple severe allergies.).

Hope everything continues to improve quickly! But also please rest, you work so hard and your body has been through a lot. On another note, I find a warm drink really helps sooth an annoying rough cough - speaking as someone with a lung condition, it can sometimes be the only thing that helps! But also water helps to thin down any mucus. Sleep tilted up if you can as well (just a few pillows, not upright!) Xx

When I was pregnant I spent a lot of time in hospital because of HG where you are constantly sick and can’t keep anything down. I spent so much time on a iv drip with fluids and anti sickness and it never got any easier having the the cannula put in/taken out. I remember one nurse said to me when I was having it taken out “if you think this is bad wait til you have the baby” I was like “I’ve already had 1 baby” and she just looked at me confused. I was throwing up blood by the time I got to the Hospital. I didn't know how bad I was either. A Gallstone had went to my Pancreas and cause it all. My Doctor told me he didn't know how I survived it. He told me he had a patient die a few years before that was in the same condition. I cried my eyes out when I left. No one in the Hospital told me how bad I was. Dear Sweet Sophie, take time to heal, don't do too much to fast. Love you, James and Pinky.

The feeling like you are dying is actually a real thing and sets alarm bells off for any health professional. As a nurse slightly worrying that a nurse questioned why you were asking what the are giving you through an IV, would like to have thought she would have introduced herself and told you what she was giving checking you were the right patient and if you were allergic to penicillin. Take time for you 💜

Glad you are doing better. You have come so far in facing your fears. I have been watching since before you came to Florida and couldn’t get into the bars with your colleagues. Stay safe and healthy Soph!🍂😊

hearing your story i was brought back to when i had tonsillitis a few months back. it eventually turned into a throat ulcer (idk how lol) and even an ear infection of all things, and yet, even though i was in terrible pain and could barely even swallow, let alone talk at this point, i literally waited it out. hearing what you had to say after your experience, i see now i definitely should have gone to the hospital and got some help. at least i know for next time, but fingers crossed there isn't a next time but it was one of the most painful experiences of my life. i'm glad you're doing better because i well and truly understand how scary and painful it would have been to go through. but take it from me, these things tend to come back quite often so please keep hydrating and resting as much as you can ❤️

111 are amazing! I have a very severe chronic illness & I find them a lot more willing to help than my GP. Glad to hear you’re on the mend , don’t rush it though, & absolutely let people look after you x

They’re a lot easier to get hold of than the GP too, whenever I phone to book an appointment with my local GP they’re usually all booked up! Agreed they were amazing, and I’m sorry to hear you have a chronic illness! Thank you so much ❤️

Glad you are feeling better Soph! As a nurse, I always advise to listen your body! Just some nurse-y advice, if you are still taking antibiotics by the time you read this, there is little point in taking probiotics at the same time, as the antibiotics strip most of them away (antibiotics target all types of bacteria, including the good bacteria in your gut), but take them after you finish them to help! I hope you don’t get sick again! 💕

I am pleased you are on the mend, it can take a while for our bodies to heal after such a severe infection. Give it some time, rest and keep cosy and don't worry about work. We love you and want you to be better regardless of if that's a few days or a few weeks. I'm sending all the healing vibes and lots of virtual love and hugs. ❤❤❤❤❤ if you haven't been in hospital before it can be very scary but it's the best place if you need it. You should be very proud you got through it, I'm very proud of you. ❤

I had a chest infection from a severe cold, coughing up blood and everything. I ended up having antibiotics but was so unwell for 2 weeks. Apparently lots of people are having the same thing. I took 5 covid tests and they were all negative but I felt like death, glad I didn’t have to seek hospital help, get well soon soph❤️

Take it easy and rest as much as you need too! I’ve recently been to hospital as I had severe chest pains through anxiety and stress from work, I thought I should leave it I couldn’t get help to cover my shift that day and my boss wouldn’t let me leave but I eventually told him that I can’t I have to leave I physically couldn’t stay there I went straight to hospital got hooked up to heart monitors and all those things but the lovely staff assured me I’m all good I took a week off and feeling better! Long story short my job is destroying my mental and physical health so I’m leaving soon as I do not want to end up in hospital again

Been taking antibiotics since yesterday but still waiting for them to have some effect. I know how much it zaps your energy, I’m still trying to chase round after my toddler whilst hoping I’m better for work on Thursday 😩 Fingers crossed you’re back to full health ASAP x

I had tonsillitis last year at Uni before lockdown - apparently I had caught it early according to the doctor so she gave me 5 days worth of antibiotics, I have never felt so tired in my life!! The pain started in my ear, then my throat and it got worse throughout the day then I managed to get an appointment- I was honestly bed ridden and never felt so ill in my life, luckily it cleared in time for my 21st birthday but I can’t imagine how much worse it must have been for you, glad you’re better now ☺️

speaking as a needle phobic person who has had to have lots of needles (gall bladder issues/removal, 3 kids, life threatening infection after I had my middle child infection markers so high the machine couldn't read it oddly I felt fab) if you have to have another cannula ever ask for a pink or a blue as they are the smaller ones normally used on children it doesn't stop it hurting but it does help, also an anaesthetist doing it really helps too if its possible, hope you get back to 100% soon :-)

I am so glad you are feeling better now! My mam was admitted to hospital in August and she had sepsis and pneumonia (think I spelt that right), she had two cardiac arrests and we almost lost her. Make sure to keep resting, can take months to fully recover after a serious infection.

I’m late but so sorry you had to go through this, but glad your recovered now! I feel your pain with blood tests, I’m supposed to have them yearly due to a health condition but I always put it off. It’s so hard to explain to people that don’t have a phobia of needles, but the anxiety it gives you is insane xx

Hi Sophie, I'm so glad to hear you're feeling better and on the mend ❤ As you said in your video it is really important to get your health checked if you feel really unwell. Here's my hospital horror story: About 3 months ago, me and my doctors thought I just had a normal water infection, so I bought over the counter medication but it didn't get better. I was in agony for days, couldn't sleep or eat, constantly throwing up. So I decided to call 111 and got sent to A&E. I had to wait over 10 hours to be seen but I eventually got diagnosed with a severe Kidney infection and my right kidney had shrunk over 50% in size. I have had issues with my kidneys most of my life, (mostly due to silly over doses as a teenager). So I was in hospital for 5 days on 2 different i.v drips, (fluids because I couldn't eat or keep food down and antibiotics for the infection). They did frequent blood tests and ultrasounds to make sure my kidney was going back to it's normal healthy size. I went home on the 5th day with an 8 day supply of the same antibiotics I had in hospital. But my kidneys still aren't 100% and I have to avoid alcohol and caffeine for 6 months after the infection. I don't know if my kidneys will ever get better due to the previous damage but I take better care of them now and drink plenty of water to keep them flush. Hospital's are very scary for anyone and for me this was the first time I was hospital for so long for something so severe, in the past it has just been a day or overnight. Please make sure to get medical attention if you really need it, don't leave things to get worse before seeking help, look after your body and mind. Sorry such a long comment, I just wanted to share my story with you. Peace and love ✌❤

Oh my gosh Soph you might not feel like you are but it sounds like you were so so lucky James called 111 for you! I'm so glad you got help when you needed it 💖 and that it wasn't sepsis but it sounds like it was borderline! Keep yourself propped up at night with pillows to help with your coughing and breathing and just give yourself some well deserved TLC 💖 and please don't apologise for lack of content your health is the main priority, we'll all be waiting for you when you're better! Also if anyone is struggling to get hold of 111 at the moment as they are super busy you can go online for their assessment too! It will sort out the same help for you, but the advice you gave about how you were feeling is super important and thankyou for spreading awareness about things to look out for for your subscribers! As a student paramedic it was interesting to hear how you felt about the cannula being in your arm and how ill it made you feel as you hate needles... do you think if they bandaged it over and covered it then it would feel less scary/intimidating? Something I can be mindful of and consider for patients who don't like it in the future? xx
