Well well. I now remember that I used to regularly drive through Shere on my drives between Portsmouth and Canterbury from 1980 to 83 when I was a student at what was still Portsmouth Polytechnic, now University. Back then, the M25 had not been completed and ended at Reigate. I'd pass by Wotton, Gomshall and Abingher Hammer as well as Shere. And over the Hogs Back as well as Devil's Punchbowl and through Hindhead. I'm well aware that the Devil's Punchbowl is now an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and that there is the Hindhead tunnel.
Hmmmm, yes, that was quite the journey back then, although it included some lovely Surrey locations. It's weird now, not going past Devil's Punchbowl, and I hear the Hindhead Tunnel has increased property values in that area. All the best, Angela

How interesting that this is a famous movie location in Surrey, UK. Are you aware that we have a Surrey, British Columbia Canada? It's a suburb of Greater Vancouver, near what's known as the Fraser Valley. And guess what? So many Christmas movies are filmed out there, even though they are passed off as being in the USA. The beautiful scenery and favourable exchange rates make it very attractive for US companies to film around Vancouver. In fact, Vancouver is known as Hollywood North. I've had many occasions where I'm watching a Christmas film and thinking the scenery looks very familiar. Sure enough during the end credits, I see "Filmed entirely on location in Fort Langley, British Columbia, Canada" or similar. Many / most Hallmark Christmas movies are filmed in Canada. If you Google "Christmas movies filmed in Canada" you'll see what I mean. 🇨🇦🇨🇦
Wow, I had no idea so much was filmed in Canada, but I'm not surprised, it's so beautiful. I've just finished watching True Detective: Night Country, which apparently was filmed in Iceland!

Heading back to Vancouver on Saturday with a return visit to the USA a week later. I'll look up the Iceland novel you mentioned. Hope all is well back in the UK.
