Hi and welcome back, this time we take a look at some of the early BR diesel locos that went on to be a great success, without doubt Maids of all work.
20 type 2 locos were ordered from BR Derby works and building started in 1957. All 20 were in service by Mid 1959 and when first introduced the locos found themselves on the Southern region due to late delivery of the class 33s.
Later further orders were placed with BR Derby, Crew and Darlington these locos had minor differences one of which was a move to alpha numeric headcode boxes. For locos build after D5114 Later classified as 24/1
By the time all 151 locos were in service they could be found on all regions of BR apart from the Western. #modelrailways #modelrailroad #modeltrains

Thank you! Loved that, as someone who is a total sucker for the Type2s - 24/5/6/7 - and the 33s - they can do no wrong for me! I feel some more purchasing coming on....

Thanks for sharing your layout. I have a couple of SLW 24s which sound great but not a two tone green. 🚂🚃🚃🚃

@@ModelRailwaysUnlimited I have just taken delivery of a two x 5ft x 5ft bi-fold baseboard, with track laid and wired, and point motors and signals all fitted. Mine was from Cambridge. Did you make yours yourself?

@@hythekent Hi, mine was made by a Gloucester based company, I then developed it, laid track etc. If you have a look over on Mikes Movies you can see the early days
