What if I told you one whiskey and an amaro and an aperitif tasted like Cola when mixed together? Well, wipe that disbelief off your face and watch this video!
The Cocchi Cola was created by Jim Meehan for the Summer 2013 Menu at PDT (Please Don't Tell) in New York City. PDT is one of the Top bars not only in NYC but one of the top bars in the world and this simple, pleasing drink will show you why. Not much to say on this one, the drink says it all!

I'm curious about the flavor of the tiki bitters, and how vital they are to this cocktail. I'm not sure I have the palette refinement yet, so I only have ango and orange bitters in my collection so far. Keep up the great work.

Made it as shown. Tasted nothing like cola, but the bitters themselves smelled like coke, so I’ll try more than three drops. Cocchi Americano and seltzer over ice is amazing though, so thank you for suggesting it.

I have heard tell that Cocci Americano and Tempus Fugit's Kina L'Aéro D'or are good substitutes for each other in cocktails. Wondering if that's true here or not, since the Cocci is such a 'star' element in this drink.

As an italian with a passion for cocktails and spirits it took me of surprise to find out of the huge possibilities offered by amari in cocktails. It's just something I would've never though of because, as you said, most of the time it's just something you sip after a huge meal to help digestion. Now I can say I do love my Amaro Nonino or my Cynar in cocktails and I am looking forward to have more space so I can build an Amari section in my own bar. A question about the whiskey you used. It's written Tennessee whiskey, is that legally a bourbon or not? What is the difference with a Kentucky straight bourbon? Especialy from the flavour profile, if I'd like to make this cocktail can I just use a regular bourbon (Buffalo trace, Maker's Mark etc?) Thank you!

No Tennessee Whiskey is its own category and I believe that is now (as of a couple years ago) a law. That said most (not all) Tennessee Whiskey fits the legal requirements for bourbon, but the maple charcoal filtering process (otherwise known as the Lincoln County Process) is what firmly makes it Tennessee Whiskey

Commenting for the RU-vid algorithm. Also wondering about possible subs for the Nonino, would another Amaro work? Was thinking of getting a bottle of Averna based on curiosity and other recommendations and wondering if that could be used here?

Steve the Bartender substitutes Montenegro in his Paper Plane video. From the description: 'although it doesn't have the same citrusy profile of Nonino, it does make a good alternative (both cheaper and more readily available).'

@TheEducatedBarfly 4 года назад
Not to be a know it all but a digestif is not aperitif style seeing as aperitif by definition is a before dinner drink. That’s why there are two different words to describe them. What I was saying was this was reminiscent of an aperitif but I’d want to drink it after my meal but is light in quality (like an aperitif) as opposed to dark and bitter...
