Great video as always. But a correction: at 9:18, you mention lidocaine is a sedative. It isn’t in any way. It’s the same thing as a dentist’s novocaine (and some dentists now use lidocaine instead), and is for numbing a specific site while staying wide awake. If she had taken a sedative, there’s a good chance her procedure wouldn’t have ended as well as it did. I wouldn’t trust my hand to do any cuts on anything more than like, a single tiny anti anxiety pill.

I had a neighbor named Brandy she is a paraplegic. When she was like 18 she was driving home from school and wanted to listen to certain CD but dropped it as she bent forward to reach and feel for it she for a split second lost control of her car and ran off the road and flipped her car in a ravene. When she awoke she was trapped and couldn't move because she broke her back...she said she tried to get out but couldn't. She was there for 3 days, everyone was looking for her...but her grandfather decided to try and retrace what her route was, just so happened he noticed slight tire tracks in the grass he pulled over and walked a little way that's when he saw her car. Drs said she wouldn't have survived another day, it just so happened they didn't cut the grass so he was able to see tracks in grass. She is a paraplegic but is grateful to be alive and loves her grandfather. If you drop something just wait til you park to pick it up.

You get so used to being behind the wheel it becomes like second-nature. Please ! - do not ever-ever underestimate how close - and mind-numbingly quick absolute disaster is to you every single moment you are behind the wheel of any vehicle. Nothing should occupy any of your time while you are driving. "OH-come'on, - I wasn't doing a crossword puzzle or anything, - it was only a new disc, or grabbing a few more fries, or making sure my makeup was alright, or sending a real-quick text, or just reaching under the seat for some Kleenex, or, - I was only ... In the first story, it's absolutely astounding that they were able to spot James. If you've ever seen video of what it looks like from the deck of a big ship, you'll know that it's almost impossible to see something in the water. Even something the size of a lifeboat is really hard to see, and you keep losing sight of it in the waves.
@ZombieSazza
@ZombieSazza 9 месяцев назад
I grew up in Buckie (Moray Coast, NE Scotland) most of my childhood and spent a fair amount of time around boats between my granddad and late (step) dad, and even being in your pleasure boats that aren’t much bigger than fishing boats, it’s pretty damn hard spotting things in the water! Even on a clear day the sea is just too vast to spot things tbh!
@marhawkman303
@marhawkman303 9 месяцев назад
@@ZombieSazza Well, as someone told me years ago, part of why the old boats had so many lookouts is that maintaining the same PoV for a period of time lets you notice things you can't see if you're scanning the horizon. It's all about absorbing information.. the sea is vast and that means you have a lot to process. Oddly someone who's just absentmindedly staring off into the distance is sometimes more likely to see a person than someone actively looking. that's because you're NOT trying to process a large area all at once and giving your mind time to process it in parts.

The cynic in me can't help but wonder if he had actually won an evening of drinks, and whether that first one might have been doped to maximize the ships profits. In any case, I too, find these types of events particularly interesting, and nice contrast to that similar story about the poor tic tok kid's tragedy. PS: a word of advice to would be cruise ship goers: if the drinks on whatever cruise you're booked on, aren't covered by the price of admission, then please do yourself a huge favor by cancelling that nonsense, and save up for one where the amenities are comped. All but the most staunch disciplinarians among us won't be able to 'just not drink', when confronted with the reality of being surrounded 24/7 by drunkards, strategically placed drinks, and a crew that is likely trained upsell you on them. As a good amount of their profitability is tied up in people's lack of ability to resist social pressure and cave into buying the overpriced products. Oh, and should you be one such disciplinarian, your reward for your high standard is to then get to have all of the fun of your typical designated driver on a night out with the boys (which if you haven't had the honor, is not fun, at all, ever)! Just, don't...

Small correction for anyone a bit confused: at 9:18, lidocaine is not a sedative. It is a numbing agent, the same as novocaine at the dentist. The last thing you want when working on yourself is a sedative. Amazing video, but just wanted to fix that mistake for anyone who was confused by it, or wondering how she operated on herself when sedated.

I believe James when he says he wasn't drunk when he fell into the water. Alcohol can accelerate the effects of dehydration and exhaustion to the point that a person lost at sea would have little hope of surviving long before either losing the strength to swim or succumbing to the urge to drink sea water. He had to be both incredibly alert and physically fit to have made it out of that situation alive.

I stumbled across your channel about 6 months ago and I must say you are one of my favorites. Your stories are always interesting and your presentation is excellent. The intro music is perfect in a way I can’t quite describe. I even heard it playing in my mind the other day when I was watching a thunder storm forming in the distance. I definitely enjoyed this video because everyone survived. There seems to be no end to the stories that end in tragedy so I think it’s important to tell the stories of people who overcome impossible odds and live to tell about it. I also like that I have to wait for the next story to come out. I think some content creators worry that if they don’t produce something every 5 seconds that they will lose their audience, and I understand why they feel that way; but I actually enjoy the feeling of having something to look forward to. Plus I know that you’ve taken the time to produce a quality video and I won’t be disappointed. 😊🤗

Deeply impressed by James' mental strength. Of course the others were fantastic too in their struggle, but there is something about being alone in the middle of the sea that scares the s##t out of me.
