imagine if we could craft sus sand and put what ever item we want into it, we could make treasure hunts and make our own dig sites that other people can discover
BRO… now you just have me thinking of custom treasure maps. You know how by clicking a banner with a map, it marks it on the map? What if you could click a chest or sus sand with a map and it could mark it as a treasure map? That would be so cool. I’d absolutely use it too, I love stuff I can do when I play with my friends. I’d love to give them a treasure hunt :)
I feel lime they should have you craft the wet clay pot with 4 clay blocks, then you place the shards on any side and burn the pot to harden it like in the 1.17 reveal. Also i feel like you should find excavation sites at abandoned villages and at jungle temples and up to 11 shards to collect
I think the Jungle temple deserve some love on this archeological front, but apart from that a place that i think would be interesting, if not useful, to have acheology sites would be a stronghold. Think about it, its a freaking whole stronghold hidden in the underground, it would make sense for there to have some remnants of the past in there. edit: Maybe it would be a bit weird because sand wouldn't always make sense in there so maybe sus gravel or dirt? Or some other block, who knows.
I think the old archaeological system shown in Minecraft Live 2020 was much better than what we have now. - You could brush off gravel and sand blocks, removing layer by layer. - The feature was not limited by one biome. - To craft the pot, you had to assemble the shards with clay and then cook the pot over a fire or in a furnace.
I think the old one was better just because we'd have ocean ruin sized dig sites scattered throughout the world, rather than a small fraction of that occuring in desert temples. Archaeology was touted as a new mechanic but you can only enjoy it for like 3 minutes.
It would probably be really hard to check (as items only spawn in naturally generated sus sand), but I wonder if having a sus sand that contains TNT drop and break would result in the TNT exploding? Might make excavating a site more interesting if it did.
I hope we will get a new hostile mob "Mummy" exclusive to Pyramid. Imagine A Mummy suddenly Pop up like a warden on the ground while you're excavating. Atleast 1 Exclusive Mob for pyramid structure 😭 Just like -Shulker on End City -Guardian/Elder Guardian on Ocean Monument. -Pillagers on Mansion and Outposts -Silverfish on Stronghold.
I like how yall giving your two cents bout archeology being added and where else suspicious sand should be but completely rolling over the fact Wattles said sharting at 1:40
Thanks for making these vids, there really entertaining and help catch me up on what’s going on with the newest updates and snapshots. Hope you get to 2 mil subs soon!
Would love to see them add "Suspicious Gravel" and use it for the Jungle temple. Maybe add some new lower level rooms that ya gotta mine the cobblestone to reveal patches of gravel and "suspicious gravel" beneath.
Suspicious gravel is already in the game if I recall! It’s just in bedrock edition and located in the the little ocean ruins across the seabed. Right now it’s loot tables are the same as the desert temple’s, but with the fact that in the MC live mob vote they said you’d be able to hatch sniffers from eggs found in ocean ruins, it’ll probably have its loot table changed to add the sniffer egg and maybe a few new shards if we’re lucky.
Fun fact ! You can CTRL + Middle Mouse Click on naturally generated suspicious sand to get the sand with the NBT data. If you place it it will have the block.
Maybe archeology sites very sparsely in the mesa biome? It’ll add to the desserted/old timey vibes the mesa gives. Especially in conjunction with the mineshafts.
I wish there were trimmed armor pieces in the loot pool for the suspicious sand. Like maybe iron or leather ones, so not good, but you could find a combination you'd never have made yourself maybe, esp on dyed leather armor
i think different types of sus sand (like gravel, dirt, stone, etc) would be cool and maybe help add archaeology to other structures, like gravel/stone for the jungle temple. also tmr better be a survival episode or i swear-
I think a really cool place to put sus sand/gravel would be the abandoned villages! In case you didn’t know, there’s a rare chance for a village to spawn as an abandoned village: filled with zombie villagers and cobwebs. Maybe the old gravel paths of the village could have artifacts stored within them. They could have a high chance of emeralds and more village oriented shards (villager faces, emeralds, depictions of the danger of pillagers, ect). Seeing a deserted village is already uncanny enough with it being filled with cobwebs and zombies, but being able to dig up their ancient history from the very gravel paths the used to tread on would be that extra bit of heartbreaking. But there’s one contradiction: villages don’t have gravel as paths anymore, they have dirt paths. So I am suggesting that the deserted villages get changed so that they take the shape of the old villages pre village and pillage. This would be an awesome nostalgic callback and would imply that the new villages were created after or because the old ones were overrun.
2 questions: 1 have you tried a looting offhand while brushing? 2 if you put an item in the center of the 4 shards will that item be inside the pot and pop out when you break it?
Add archeology to the jungle temple. Rare drop is 1 of 3 pieces to craft an obsidian pickaxe or obsidian axe. Same durability as diamond but cant enchant. Add same for desert temple except for copper pick or axe. These items can only be crafted from these archeology shards.
Day 5 of commenting: I think I thought up a good name for the update. So while I was thinking in the shower I thought up a new name: Fable and Flora. Fables are like stories which is literally said by Kingbdogs to be the theme for the update and a lot of things have a story aspect to them like: Archaeology, the sniffer, new bookshelf’s, signs and kinda armour trims(make your own story of how you got them) and flora is like plants and stuff so cherry blossom, sniffer plants, bamboo stuff kinda. Anyway I hope you see this.(you could also make it the other way round Flora and Fable idk which sounds better).
I've said it before and I'll say it again, Jungle Temples, Ocean Ruins, Mineshafts and maybe new secret rooms for woodland mansions or even the ancient cities
The fact that games are now using the term, "suspicious," right after among us was created. Suspicious stew, powder snow is technically suspicious snow, and now suspicious sand.
i think putting sus soul sand around portals, sus mud around witch huts, and sus dirt around jungle temples would make archeology much cooler and add more opportunities for it to be found/utilized
Honestly I see archeology being added all over, from badlands mineshafts to jungle temples, they would have to make sus dirt or other blocks but it would make exploration a lot better IMO
there needs to be a luck enchant book that you can only get by digging and adds better items to the loot table as well as a chance to get a higher level enchant book. it would add more reasons to explore these dig sites as they would get more valuable over time.
It'd be cool if suspicious sand (and hopefully in the future other sus blocks) generated every so often around the environment, without any structures.. like a tiny lil thing to do on your way to wherever you're going, where you otherwise mightve just been pressing W and Spacebar. im picturing something almost like burried metal chests in BOTW Plus carrying around a tool taking up a precious inventory slot would be less of a hit, cuz finding structures isn't a guarentee
I'd like to see another unique treasure to get from archeology. Honestly, pots aren't that cool. If they let pots stay with the desert but had something else for jungle/other biomes that would be nice.
i really hope they update the textures on the pots soon. the old designs were so much better!!! even if they dont do the colors i think the overall shape of the old design was better. this looks like a shotty mod made in 5 minutes
Mine shafts need it too. Really, I think all the structures that no villagers live at should have it. That includes the ancient city. Oh which reminds me, another drop from the sand could be a map to an ancient city, or a clue to where it might be.
This archaeology update is super disappointing imo. Not only is the loot terrible, but it barely generates anywhere, and you cant even speed up the process with enchantments. Like, the best thing you can get is like a couple diamonds. With the timing being spent looking for a desert temple, you might as well just go mining as usual and you'll probably find more diamonds and quicker on top of that. It feels like archaeology is more of a thing you run into rather than a thing you set out to do, which I find dumb. As for the generation being too scarce, I really don't get why there aren't new structures to complement the archaeology (development time to add this stuff aside). Like, why didn't they just add some cool ancient ruins? Maybe ruins in the jungle with really great loot to make the jungle more worthwhile, and ruins in the desert as well. Like some big ancient tribe's dwelling or something like that, with cave paintings and whatnot. They could've had suspicious sand in existing structures too, like shipwrecks, dungeons, and strongholds and whatnot, and I think adding a couple more suspicious blocks, like suspicious gravel, could add more variety. Just in general the game needs like 3x the structures than what it already has to allow more variety in gameplay style. I have always been more of an explorer and a fighter than a builder, and ive been playing the game since 1.6, so what, like 10+ years now? Only just recently does it feel like exploring is becoming more viable without being as repetitive, which is absurdly slow. Still has years of work to go, clearly. And then for enchantments, it's pretty odd haste and fortune don't work on the brushes. The brushing animation is pretty slow, so it would be nice to be able to enchant the brushes. And considering how garbage the loot is, fortune would've been nice. One other thing I was thinking is to add more archaeological tools. Even just one or two more could be nice to make it more interesting of a process instead of just endlessly brushing away. Good thing we got the tricky trials, because archaeology is a massive miss imo. Hope they add a lot more to it in the next update...
In the parts of the video where you show the potential loot for each excavation area, how did you lay the items on the table like you did? The items are all laying on the table without item frames, which seems impossible. I'd love to learn this trick to use for decoration!
Jungle Temple... The place has been forgotten for a while. Also, what about atlantian loot in the guardian temples? That would fit with the current feel of the temples... Loot would have to include Trident-pattern pots, prismarine and a rare heart of the sea?
I wonder if Mojang will ever update the older structures of the game, like Jungle Temples or Woodland Mansions. They are both pretty boring once you've looted multiple of them.
I actually prefer archeology from 2020. Mostly. I like the idea of brushing away other blocks, because it could also be used for landscaping. I like the pots, but wish they had a purpose for decoration.
