A great point that Francis made was that she saw other religions out there that actually try to help others, not just people of their own faith. The watchtower cult helps nobody but themselves. We definitely need more educated therapists like her.

Aquaseventytree You're right. When you have true love in your heart, you feel it and know it. There is no true love in the watchtower cult. Thankfully, so many are waking up and seeing it for themselves, thanks to the John Cedars channel and the many others

EXPOSE THE WT CULT Yes, if 8 million witnesses set their minds, in an organised way, to helping others and doing good NOW in the world, just imagine the impact that would have. I could see the difference between the church activities of my early childhood and the JW's, it always made me feel uncomfortable. Their help is always conditional.

Great stuff! Keeping the conversation going like a boss. You are a window of discovery for those that are leaving or who have left. Keep it up!

+john chrysostomou It's a tricky predicament because there's every chance that they will not take you seriously and go down the usual route of "The fool hath said in his heart 'there is no God'". The organisation has gone as far as to say that deserters have a diseased mind. The elders would tell them that Satan has a hold on you in the world's last ditch attempt before the end times. Cults have evolved their teachings to be insular and follower look for confirmation of their beliefs as criticism has a negative EMOTIONAL outcome. For this reason, I do not speak with my family about these things and that's why I'm annonimous. I wish you well but understand that they could be beyond reason. And don't lose our temper or they'll think you're mad at Jehovah, not the situation you're in. Good luck.

Great points. I always tell ex JW's that they need to read, research, and find an excellent therapist. Walking away from a destructive cult and thinking you will be fine very rarely if ever works. You are left with so much damage and if you don't work through it then you could be left with so many problems down the road. I have seen so many who do this and they go from one destructive behavior to the next. Our therapist had us read some very good self help books along with the research and reading we were doing about the cult. I can honestly say that we are doing great because we received this help and we were in until we were 56 and 58, you can begin a new life at any age.

This is so helpful. I was in it for 35 years!! I left two years ago its been a journey and a crazy experience! Waking up was the best thing / shunned and abandoned but in a better place. Bit by bit day by day. Unravelling all the mind control. Thabk you for this very helpful and timely xx

This is one of my favorite interviews that I’ve seen on this channel. Thank you very much, this interview left me feeling ready to empower my self and determined to stay the course on the “outside”. I feel so thankful for this channel to help funnel me to research that’s already out there (no need to re-invent the wheel on 607/1914). Are there any specific books or blogs about un-indoctrinating our children? Particularly when one parent is still mentally and emotionally in and one is not? I don’t want to scare or further confuse or complicate the lives of my little ones. 😟

Great Video, Lloyd. Came here from Natalie Barth. She talked about Frances' Article today. So less clicks here Unfortunately. Such an important topic. Thanks a lot Lloyd!

All ex jws on youtube should unite and do a documentary like the one Leah Remini did on Scientology.

I think it was a very good point to mention good things of others groups that are not considered for jw's... :-)

I remember the 'generation' teaching in 94. How in the WT magazine the introduction on the inside cover about 'this generation will BY NO MEANS PASS away' was just gone from the WT without ANY explanation inside. It had me thinking even then, but of course at that time I justified it.

"learned helplessness" is a good way to explain this....I call it a matter of "external locus of control" vs. "internal locus of control".

You initially have the "carrot" of Paradise Earth dangled from a stick in from of you. However, you also get the "handgun" : You'll die in Armageddon if you're not a Witness, pointed at your head as you're walking along following the carrot. That makes me very angry. It's very upsetting to me.

this was just what i needed . the things causing the waking up very similar. the child abuse cover up was the main thing . however i had not realised the amount of mind control used. my complication is most of my large family are in including my wife . she feels somthing is wrong but keeps saying JAH will sort it out .also most of our friends are j ws .however i have quite a few non jw friends . i realy dont wana upset my wife so ive gota keep fading .now i have woken up when i take wife to meeting i can now identify the mind control methods .however ive noticed just lateley a couple of the elders avoid eye contact . however it could be becausd i have been quite firm in my refusal to be "encouragment"to take on any responsibilities in the congregation

I used the argument with my mum when I was a kid about how other religions are doing x, y or z that other religions are and her response was that there are other religions that do the same things but not ALL of the things at the same time...

Can you provide some contact info for Frances Peters? And yes, I did the research...since I was 8 and combing through pubs at the library to figure out if the bible was really real...or just the publication of a bunch of men trying to control things (especially was feeling this one as a female.)

John cedars: Thanks for the video it's another great one! I have a suggestion for you to touch on for either one of your interviews with someone or a video, or maybe even an article on jwsurvey.. (I don't believe I've seen anything that touched on this subject I am about to mention) I am awake and I think my mom is slowly starting to wake up. However, we have lost a loved one close to us in death. Her son, my brother. I have accepted it now but it was very difficult for me at first to come to grips with the fact that I wouldn't see my brother again how I felt like I would for so long. I think she's holding onto the religion even with all the wrong things going on because she doesn't wanna let go of the hope and she's scared if she does let it go, what does she believe after that? Or what if she's wrong and she loses out on seeing him again? Is this something that you can possibly touch on in an upcoming video. It's the worst thing ever for a mother to lose a child. Thanks, keep it up!
