To everyone watching this, Dragon Shield redesigned their Cube Shells to fix the problems showcased in this video. I bought the new ones for my Jumpstart 2022 cube and they are absolutely perfect. Very affordable, at least in the USA, at $12 USD for a pack of 8. There's no longer obstructions within the packs that can catch or damage your cards. They're pre-built, easy to open and easy to take your cards out. They have a dedicated finger groove in the back of the shell to help you get a grip on your cards. It comfortably holds 20 single sleeved cards or 15 double sleeved cards. If you want an alternative to Cubeamajigs, Dragon Shield Redesigned Cube Shells are absolutely worth it. The Redesigned Cube Shells look different from their initial designs so be sure that you order the redesign and not the ones shown in this video.

I'm sure Dragon Shield listens and watches the profs reviews. I expect a V2 of these sleeves within the following 6 months that will correct that critical error and it will become a better product. Good job prof, keep up the good work ✊

The snagging isn't really a big problem for single sleeves cards. I have my jumpstart cube in these dragonshield packs and the front card has caught a few times but just pushing it slightly towards the back of the pack it slides nicely into the pack. The size of them not fitting in certain deck boxes is a bit of pain depening on your storage though.
@Shaudius

I don't have any of the same issues with my Dragon Shield Cube shells that the prof has, they snag barely at all and you have to push them in just so to get them to snag and stay.

Here's the irony: The Dragon Shield Cube Shells aren't good for large sleeves... like Dragon Shields. Chances of snagging are considerably less when it comes to narrower sleeves like Eclipses. So Dragon Shield managed to make a product that's... incompatible with their own sleeves.

Making products that are alright by themselves but don't go together super well is kind of a running theme with Dragon Shield. Pretty much. I've used this product for months now and it's fine for me with no damages. It looks like it was last updated for Theros, Beyond Death, which makes sense, since that was the last set from before the pandemic. They don't really have a good way to work on the cube and I think they only make a certain number of them. It's not too bad to get the list and just buy all of them though. You can get a pretty good deal still. I got it a while ago for an mtg club I lead, and then also, used all the cards I had and then just bought what I needed to have the same cube. I've upgraded mine over the last couple years and it's been tons of fun.

Since the cubeamagics are not available in the Netherlands and I had a Jumpstart cube I wanted to store, I immediately bought the Dragon Shield cubes when they came out. I’ve now had them for a few months and my experience hasn’t been as negative as you described, although I do agree they aren’t perfect. Regarding the sliding in and out of cards: If you press lightly on both sides of the box with one hand, and press the front and back of your cards together to compress volume, I’ve found that the cards slide in without any difficulty. I personally haven’t found any damaged sleeves after using this method repeatedly for months.

I purchased the Dragonshield Cube Shells for my cube, and the Professor's review is spot on. For reference, I keep a 360 card, single-sleeved cube with 30 of each basic land and numerous tokens/ double-faced cards. The shell material is durable and easy to open and close. Twenty-four shells comfortably fit in a single row of a Magic Carpet XL. Sleeved cards do catch slightly on the way in to a shell, and to minimize the risk of damage, I limit myself to no more than 15 single-sleeved cards in a pack. I never apply excess force to pack the cards; the catching surfaces seem to be on the flap side of the shell, so if I hold it nearly flat and gently shake side to side, the cards go in without hassle or damage. As a cube owner, you may have to warn your drafters about this or risk sleeve damage. Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with my purchase, although I may circle back to another solution if the engineering improves over the years.

@@delm0nte agreed. I think that of the current choices out there, the BT are the best overall option. If they could just stay consistently in stock that is. Lol

I've been holding my single-sleeved (UP clear) 20-card Jumpstart boosters in Cube Shields and they're honestly fine. I'm in the UK so it's my only option, and they do exactly what I need them to do. Not experienced any issues with scuffing of sleeves, but if that is a potential issue then adding a single slip of paper is a cheap and instant workaround to a design issue.

I need to pick up some of the sleeveamajigs for my unset cube

Prof, you should do a "how to cube online" video for the masses. I've written up a rough guide on the subreddit, but a further reaching video to help new players get involved in the best mtg format would be incredible. I'd happily provide a step by step guide + options as a basis for the video

One budget option I use for cube packs is Ultra Pro Team Bags. They’re simple resealable bags that easily fit large sleeves like Dragon Shields. IIRC they fit double sleeved cards as well (don’t remember how many, but I think it’s at least 15). Downsides include that they aren’t particularly durable to my knowledge and they’ll likely crinkle up and look like crap after a couple of drafts. That’s okay for me since they’re sold in packs of 100 or so, and my policy is to use them until they either break, get too dirty to reseal well, or just look particularly crappy, then simply replace them.

Fell in love with these when they were announced - even though i only play mtg as a side game. They are usefull for other TCG's. You just cant get them anywhere.

There neat if you want to bling out your cube but then you could just use the resealable sleeves/baggies you get singles in when you buy from a card shop i think there called team bags.

Thanks for the review Prof! I would love your thoughts on Burger Token cube reusables. I brought some and thought they were great and their price is perfect for peoples first cubes

hey prof, love your videos. Do you have any recommendations for Card Holders (for example ultra pro mini snap) ? As old cards have gotten more and more value lately, I'd love to use somthing like that for single card protection.

Love Dragon shield sleeves, but yea its a huge shame that they didn't think about how their shells would work with their other products. Great vid as always Prof!

My current cube has a bit of an advantage of being split into fives piles. Since I wanted to simulate drafting an Un-Set, there's a commons deck, an uncommons deck, a rares/mythics deck, a contraptions deck, and a lands deck. Commons and uncommons are a bit messy to shuffle though. Still, wouldn't mind being able to pre-build packs.
