It’s lovely to hear Darren’s recollections of Princess Diana. It’s very clear that Darren really knew her, and it’s refreshing that Darren’s memories come from a place of love and respect, unlike some of her former staff that have attempted to commercialise their relationship with Princess Diana.
Lovely & personal insight of our beautiful inside & out Princess Diana by her friend, Chef Darren, who created all her favorite culinary delights. You brightened her life.
When he mentioned the passing joke of “another one off the list..he’s too short” speaking of Tom Cruise. He really humanizes a family that people imagine are happy happy but are real people.
It's really unfortunate that William and Harry don't get an opportunity to spend a day with Darren. I bet it would be good for both of them to be around someone who truly loved their mom and has such fond and positive memories...which I'm sure they rarely experience. Happy Birthday HRH, you are missed.
@DS SO what's your point? Darren knew her and Harry was asking that question when he was a very young boy and didn't quite grasp how people perceived his mother, to him, she was just mom.
@@Paula-dl9ky actually, he was speaking of the time during his mother's funeral and referring to the fact that the public got to mourn but he couldn't. He was not referring to his current view. He said it during his Oprah interview.
@@danielhostetler9493 My misunderstanding perhaps, if so my apologies.... I posted it as DS SO may not have been around back then and it's new to him / her ... Yes, Diana was simply 'mummy' back then ... We all miss her I think ... I saw her close up at Live Aid 1985, in Wembley Stadium .... Beautiful lady ....
It's so clear to see how much appreciation he has for the late Princess. After doing some reading on Darren, I saw that after her tragic death he chose to devote much of his free time to the causes and charities she supported. What an amazing thing to not only support those wonderful charities, but also honor her memory. Cheers Darren, I hope for nothing but the best for you and your family.
Don't stress out!!! We all start out as babies- who knows some of the Royals actually understand what it means to live a "normal/ordinary" life. For example, Prince William & Prince Harry have had that experience!! Diana was a wonderful mother, I believe- look how they turned out!! 😀
You have no idea how much I enjoyed hearing your memories of Princess Diana. And thank you for sharing her favorite food. ❤️ She will always be the peoples PRINCESS ❤️❤️❤️
A good way to judge someone is by how they treat their staff. And from the way that Darren speaks of her, she obviously treated hers with kindness and respect.
I love watching Darren cook and listening to him telling his story. It’s like listening to your uncle telling his story like a little kid at the dinner table .
Thank you so much Darren for sharing HRH favourite recipes with us all..... Yes, surely she was and still is the people's princess. I pray that one good day, Princes William and Harry will come knocking on your door to cook some of their beloved mom's favourite recipes. Darren, may God bless you and your family always. ❤💛💜❤
I think the best and worst thing about this video is this fact: we, “commoner’s,” had to hear of Princess Diana from the junky cheap tabloids while great stories like these that share of her true character were shielded from us, the masses. Thanks for sharing Darren!
Princesa Diana and Clint Eastwood in a Big party they seem Not to like each other So thus way , I was Surprised to know He was there in his Cowboy boots Looking hot!!!!
Darren you are lovely, Love from America. Food needs love in the cooking. That is why she is The People's Princess. All over the world. We miss her even in America..I cried when she passed an ocean away.
Diana is as close to a real Disney princess as any person will ever come. She was a member of royalty who genuinely cared about people and was humble and grounded while also being elegant.
Thank you for sharing. I've loved since I was a small boy. It took 11 years, after the wedding, before I eventually met her. I bought flowers and arrived at the venue at 10am for her lunch time appointment. When she arrived, she rushed in. It was the week of the serialization of Diana: Her True Story. By the time she emerged it was 2pm, and my flowers had wilted. Her detective Insp Peter Brown opened the car door for her to step in. My heart sank. But instead of getting into the car, she pointed at me and walked straight towards me. I got so nervous and I gave her the wilted flowers and curtseyed as she shook my hand. She giggled. I met her a few days later, and she smiled and said, "I remember you. You're so sweet. You gave me flowers last Tuesday." I was gobsmacked.
"He's too short"...LMAO. I love how even if she was scared and called the fire brigade, she never thought to call Darren and ask for something because she probably thought to not disturb him in his free time. Those are small things, but shows what a caring person she was.
I followed Princess Diana from the beginning. I turned 60 in May. Im a huge fan . She was truely an influential person in so many ways. I have to say. Your kind words and obvious affection for the Princess is clear. To have such loyalty after 20 years is very telling. She was so loved by the world, but to those who knew her she was more. A real friend. God bless .
Princess Diana was a treasure to our world, and taken from us way too soon. We hear so many stories of vipers in her world - it is heartwarming to know she had a loyal, genuine and kind supporter in you, Darren. ✝️💗😀👑
Ah, that's so sad, but so sweet, too. Her wedding and her death are 2 of the public events that I will never forget where I was in life when they occurred.
I think the most wonderful thing about the late princess is how she was blind to class structure and treated everyone the same, it didn't matter if she was talking to the leader of a nation or a homeless person in Africa she treated everyone with equal love and respect and that is truly a virture that our society strongly lacks this day and age. She was a a beautiful shining light that was just too beautiful and bright for this world, and now she is a beautiful angel for real, there will never be another one like Princess Diana.
Thank you for this wonderful tribute to Diana. She and I were born on the same day and she's always been special to me. I'm so glad you were the one cooking for Diana and the boys after the separation.
I can only imagine cooking this and feeling happy with the memories and then cry over my food. She definitely was defined as the Peoples Princess and People all around the world still show that love for her even when she's gone. A true real life fairytale princess indeed.
I just love Darren. He is so real and his memories are very touching. So easy to see why Diana trusted him and held him dear. So glad they were there for each other... he became like family.
I think Darren was picked because he is such a kind, warm hearted, good person. As well as the delicious food I bet he was a ray of sunshine, and I am glad he mentions he has family, and had weekends in a real world so his life was balanced and he could do good elsewhere after his palace years.
So smart of him to save the cards and hand written notes from Diana! She truly touched people all over the world. I am in the US and I stayed up til 4 am to watch her funeral and cried all day afterwards. What wonderful memories he has of her!!
@@anti-ethniccleansing465 You are another person who never met the DDoS, yet spew lies and MISINFORMATION maligning his wife. Get a life of your own... perhaps you will drop the RACIST hate.
Yes, you could see he had to cut the clip because it probably made him tear up. Poor guy, such a tragedy for all of us and we didn’t even know her personally.
What a lovely man you are, thanks for sharing I love watching your channel, to think you spent time and cooked for Princess Diana and her boys what a treat. Your an amazing Chef.
For my Mom and dad's generation the thing they remember exactly where they were was when JFK was killed in Dallas. For my daughters generation it was when the twin towers came down in New York. For my generation though it was when Diana died. I remember exactly where I was. I was bartending at Austin Country Club while I was at UT Austin & I had a good crowd. These folks were a loud and lively group so when the whole room went quiet I knew something was wrong. Such a tragedy!!
It doesn't surprise me that Diana enjoyed eating meals in the kitchen. She must have known how much Chef Darren admired her, and she felt comfortable around him. Well done, Chef!
I love seeing photos of you back in the day! You were and still are so dapper and classy! Thank you for sharing your stories of the wonderful Diana, Princess of Wales! ♥️
You can tell how much Darren cared for princess Diana and the princes she left this world far too soon we all cherish her memory even if we were not lucky enough to have met her in person she made us feel like we were part of her life even if it was at a distance
I always forget that for many years her children were away at* boarding school; and she was left without a caring partner. It's very sweet to think that she found some joy and friendship during that time. So often, people can feel our love and care for them through the food we make for them. Thanks for keeping her memory alive!
This made me smile. I adored hearing Darren speak so fondly and warmly of Princess Diana. What a lovely man Darren is and it is very clear that he and Diana had a wonderful friendship.
Thank you Darren for calling her _Princess_ Diana - for indeed she was a princess - even if it was only in our hearts. She was truly one of a kind, wasn't she? She was my age, and I still miss her terribly. I like to think that in some other life, we'd be friends, I know she had a great sense of humor! The day she passed was like my JFK moment, I was absolutely gutted.
I love listening to you talk about Princess Diana. She was beautiful inside and out. No one will ever be able to hold a candle to this truly human princess.
Princess Catherine is also beautiful inside and outside and she has a happier marriage than Diana had. Princess Catherine is a working royal for the Crown while Diana's freedom from the RF gave her opportunities to expand her interest beyond what she could do as a working royal!
I truly wish I could find a friend like Darren. He’s consistently advocated to keep her memory alive. He’s always so respectful of her. And I can just tell he wasn’t JUST a staff member to her. He was a true friend.
The truly touching thing about this video is that you’re speaking about someone who was more than a princess. The way you speak of Princess Diana, is the way someone would speak of a friend. Chef, that says more about who she was than any story I’ve ever read or documentary I’ve ever watched.
Thank you, Chef. I needed that for my heart. I have been to the The Ritz in Paris and walked through the Pont De Alma tunnel and hugged the 13th pillar for closure. Some of the staff at the Ritz were on duty that night and are now around my age or older (55) I was there in 2015 and brought my son (21 at the time) in 2019 and had lunch at Ritz ( it was closed in 2015) they now have the back entrance blocked. Thank you for your tribute❤️🇺🇸🇬🇧 I miss her so much.
From watching this video, I know that Chef Darren was and still is a true friend of Princess Diana. The egg susette looks delicious and I may try that for my family for a special treat. Thank you!
Thank you so much for sharing this. Princess Diana was the best of humanity. I was 17 when she passed and I remember it like it was yesterday. She is still touching lives to this very day. Hearing your stories and seeing you prepare one of her favorite dishes was a genuine privilege. Thank you.
I love your insights into the everyday lives of the Royal Family. You are always so loving and respectful. Well done. Just brilliant. Happy Birthday, Your Royal Highness.
